Bangkok vs Pattaya ,why ?
On my trips to Thailand, I typically go for around 10 days, but spend only 2 or 3 days in Pattaya - the rest in BKK. I've always enjoyed the side excursions to Pattaya. But when my trips to Thailand resume, I'm thinking of no longer going to Pattaya. It just doesn't seem worth travelling down there, just to visit slightly different bars, when the bars and guys in BKK are so good. Secondly, as mentioned on posts above, I find there is not much to do in Pattaya during the day and the selection of restaurants and hotels there are not as good. (In BKK, I can't fit in the amount of different restaurants I want to try - but in Pattaya, I can barely find any). My sense from reading these forums is that there was a craziness in the Pattaya scene many years ago - which was worth coming to see. But unfortunately that seems to have faded, and now the scene seems like just a smaller version of BKK.

Long pants are officially off in Silom Soi 2
I find Viet boys gorgeous! I'm thinking of some of the Viet guys I've "known" from Jupiter (and some cute waiters from X-Boys, in Soi Twilight days). I don't think I've ever been to Fresh Boys, but I will definitely add it to the list for next time.

Third time lucky - December 2021 trip to Thailand in covid time
Spectacular thread Vinapu. I'm madly jealous of all your adventures, but I'm also delighted to hear that there are still so many opportunities for fun in LoS in this uncertain time. Gives me hope. I can't wait to get back.

Berlin
Hi All Anyone been to the bars on Fuggerstrasse lately? Thinking of a potential trip to Berlin next. Haven't been in a long time. I love those small bars with the rough Romanian / eastern european / middle eastern guys. But not sure if they have all gone home because of COVID, or if they have come back yet. I'm aware Blue Boy has closed permanently, but I believe there are still a couple of other bars left. Thanks.

Bucharest, Romania: Any Info?
Thanks xpaulo. Was this recently, or pre-covid? I'm going to Barcelona in a couple of weeks, but don't know if I'll visit Thermas or not.

Barcelona (Thermas) 2019 latest recommendations
young11 thanks for your report. I'm going to Barcelona in a couple of weeks. I was not planning to visit Thermas. I assumed it might not be great, given the whole covid / tourism situation. But I am slightly tempted. I have only been there once before, so I don't have much context for whats good or bad. But when you say the quality was a lot worse, what are you referring to? The guys not performing, or generally not great looking guys? And where are they from? I have my eye on a few guys from Hunqz anyway.

Thailand's History and Culture: Why Gayness Remains a Stigma for Many
Thanks for this post. It's also interesting to consider, in the west, the link between a society's changing attitude to homosexuality and the prevalance and nature of gay prostitution. The creation of the "identity" of the homosexual, and its constant discussion in western society has seemingly reduced the amount of casual gay-for-pay male prostitution. I'm reading a book currently about the sex lives of authors in the 1940s/1950s. There seemed to be a steady stream of young soldiers, sailors and street hustlers in major U.S., UK and European cities who were willing to offer serices for a quick buck, which does not seem to exist any more. We can largely put this down to poverty at that time. However, another aspect, I suspect, is that these young "straight" men were also less inclined to gloomily deliberate about their sexuality because its not something that was generally known or discussed in every day life. The subsequent promotion of gay rights in following decades inadvertently created fairly rigid definitions of straight and gay. Today in U.S. and western europe, poverty still exists. But we would rarely see a poor western boy REDUCE himself to escorting. Because that would be "gay." And secondly, gay men themselves are now less likely to seek undergound paid sex, than during a time when homosexuality was literally outlawed. It would be simplistic of me to view Thailand through this same lens, but I wouldn't be surprised that the broader promotion and acceptance of gay rights actually reduces the prevalance of a gay prostitution scene over time. This has probably already begun.

Athens – Pandemic Update
Thanks for your post Xclay. I was intrigued by Santiagodc's Athens post as well, and I still hope to get to Athens at some point this year or next. I wonder if the police presence on Omnia was only temporary.

When do you expect to be in Thailand next ?
Thanks for the link z909. Very interesting. Am I understanding this correctly that Bangkok will not be open until 2022? It only seems to be referring to those 5 other provinces.

The future of gogo bars in Bangkok
I love the gogo bars. Seeing guys in the flesh is far more appealing to me than seeing them on a thumbail picture on my phone screen. Seeing their personalities on stage can make a big differece. To be honest, some of the best guys I've been with in Thailand, I probably would have scrolled past them on app. The apps are boring for me. I can do that at home.

Restrictions being lifted
Hi Guys. I'm not sure if this has already been asked, but does anyone think the "guest" policy will change for hotels in the new covid era? Will hotels really allow you to bring back random strangers to your hotel room every night, given that everything else is so highly controlled?

Athens Report
Great post santiaodc, thank you. Athens was never on my radar, but this post has definitely intrigued me. Hopefully this kind of action is still available post-covid. I will book flights!
