santosh108 reacted to PeterRS in Lies! Lies! More Damned Lies And Death! We know Trump is a liar. He lies all the time. White lies? Not a bit of it. Whopping great big iies on the international stage - and he gets away with it!
Anyone who does not believe that is living in some weird fantasy world. Take his Oval Office meeting with the South African President last week, Cyril Ramaphosa. He accused Ramaphosa of the systematic killing of white farmers. Rubbish! He has already permitted several white farmers refugee status in the USA because otherwise they would be victims of genocide. Rubbish! He dimmed the Oval Office lights to show a video showing roughtly 1,000 white crosses. "They're all white farmers, the family of white farmers . . . those people are all killed." Rubbish!
For these were not graves. They were props which had been placed during a demonstration as a protest some years ago. They were then removed, but of course the video does not show that. Trump then pulled out a blog post showing an image of South Afrcia. Only it was not South Africa. It was the Democratic Republic of Congo. After the meeting, Trump as he always does doubled down on his false claims.
Also on that Trump trip was his DOGE, the South African Elon Musk who had earlier been party to the false allegations of mass murder of white farmers. Yet Musk's shareholders are surely now a very unhappy bunch. Not only are Tesla models worldwide being outsold by China's BYD cheaper electric vehicles (Warren Buffet's company had seen its 10% investment in BYD made in 2008 rise by a huge 41 times by June 2022), its sales are dramatically down. In Europe alone: 59% in France, 81% in Sweden, 74% in the Netherlands, 66% in Denmark, 50% in Switzerland and 33% in Portugal.

Britain is now seeing what has become quite an extended backlash against Brexit, the 2016 exit from the European Union. The verdict was extremely narrow and one reason for that were the lies told by the Brexit campaigners (called in an article in today's Observer newspaper "mendacious garbage"). Leaving the EU would free up £350 million per week to aid the National Health Service was one of their many false claims. Rubbish! To mention just two, there has been outrage in the UK from small businesses about the massive amount of form filling now required for exporting their products, and from individual Britons who now have to pass passport checks every time they enter and leave an EU country. I had to do that last year to get into Holland and then out from there to Switzerland. It was huge time wasting madness! Overall, the Observer reckons Brexit has already cost the UK "tens of billions of pounds." 55% of Britons now say Brexit was wrong.
Now, though, the new government has taken the Brexit bull by the horns to undo some of that madness. A Brexit reset is finally under way. Immigration controls throughout Europe are being reconsidered, as are items like farming policy.

Finally, Israel. During my education, the mass murder in Vietnam meant little. It was way too far away. The beleaguered state of Israel, on the other hand needed help and many students spent a month or two in the summer working in kibbutz - and were happy to do so. Now, though, the ghastly and disastrous actions of the Netanyahu government in the virtual destruction of Gaza and its inhabitants seems to concern none in power anywhere in the world to the extent that they will actually do something to stop it.
Just today we learn of the family of a doctor, a paediatric specialist dedicated to saving lives, nine of whose ten children were massacred by a missile strike when sleeping in their own home. A tenth child and her husband remain seriously injured. And the Israel Defense Forces have the absolute gall to announce in the light of this particular massacre, "The claim regarding harm to uninvolved civilians is under review.” WIll any israeli be charged with murder? Of course not!
Israel's constant lies are worse than Trump's. At least Trump does not kill - yet! When will all the killing and the lying stop?

santosh108 reacted to PeterRS in Flight routesFor several years, RTW tickets were always cheaper if purchased in Kuala Lumpur. Then Bangkok took over. However, I once hit a snag with a Bangkok issued RTW ticket. After several stops in Europe, I landed in New York. After 3 days, I flew on to LAX from La Guardia. Since I was packed and out of my hotel room a few hours before i needed to be at the airport, I went down to the Village and bought some porn DVDs. On my return, instead of locking them in my suitcase, I just put them into one of the compartments in my trolley bag.
As I went through security, I was hauled aside by a grossly overweight lady and asked if she I would take off my belt and my shoes. She then went through the trolley bag and of course found the DVDs which she proceeded to lay out on a table so that all passengers could see them. That did not concern me as the chance of someone going through that security line who actually knew me was nil. Eventually, everything was repacked and I made it to the gate.
Boarding the 767 business class, I had just settled down in the seat when I heard my name called. I was asked to take my luggage and proceeded to the aircraft entrance door. Great, I thought. Upgrade to first class! Not at all! Two airline cops were waiting to escort me off the aircraft and asked me to wait. Then that ridiculous security lady waddled duck-like towards me. I was asked to put my trolley bag on a seat and open it. One cop asked her what had she found. She fished into the compartment and pulled out the DVDs. The cops then turned on her. "You have delayed this aircraft for something that has nothing to do with aircraft safety? Get back to your position before we report you - and fast!"
The cops then apologised profusely to me for what I can only assume they regarded as an invasion of privacy. They wanted my address so the airline could send an official apology. I waived that off saying all I wanted to do was get to LAX quickly as I had a dinner engagement. Back in my seat, the purser came to me with a large glass of champagne and another apology.
The point of this tale is that I wondered why had this lady pulled me aside. It's not as though I looked anything other than a normal passenger. Only on my return to Hong Kong did a friend who works for Cathay Pacific take a look at my boarding cards. "Look at this," he said. There on my US boarding cards were in quite large letters "SSS". That is because in the US they regard Thailand as semi-dangerous and the letters stand for "Special Security Screening"!

santosh108 reacted to Travellerdave in Reasons why we pay for sexBefore discovering Thailand as a gay holiday destination 25 years ago I used to travel to Spanish resorts with a couple of pals eventually settling on Playa del Ingles on the island of Gran Canaria for its vibrant night life and gay/nude section on Maspalomas beach. I never paid for sex - we just socialised with guys from all parts of the world and it just happened (sometimes in the dunes keeping an eye open for the cops) That changed when we were recommended to try Thailand in particular pattaya where everything was low priced with the U.K. pound buying 70 baht and delicious Thai boys available all night for 1000. I never went back to Playa del Ingles !. I must have spent a fortune on Asian boys since as a gay sex tourist - but its been a great investment, especially as I’m no longer young and not attractive now

Before going to have my usual late Bò né breakfast place, I am chatting in the apps and I book a 2 hands massage with Shjn from Grindr at 3:30pm.
I can eat these Bò né everyday without getting bored - like Vinapu with Chicken with Cashews
After breakfast, I take a walk on the beach promenade and I see this perfect sales truck that would be great for @Olddaddy to open a beach side business here in Da Nang. He does not even need to change the name of the business. What do you all think?
Business opportunity for our @Olddaddy ?? 🤔 🤑
Shjn (the massage guy) and I, we later on move our conversation from Grindr over to Zalo, and I give him the address of my condo and we meet in the lobby. He looks more or less like his Grindr profile picture, which is good. We enter my condo and he drinks some water and we chit chat for 5 minutes. He really likes my 33rd floor view and he is updating his social media from my balcony. I get naked and he massages me only in his underwear. His massage is very good – perfect medium strength with nice kneading stroking movements. When I turn over, he takes off his underwear and he is now completely naked. Unfortunately, his attributes were not very appealing, so I just closed my eyes and let him perform the 30-minute slow edging session that I pre-negotiated. I caressed his nice body and nipples. I have to stop him 3 times – as us edgers – we don’t like fast orgasms. Moment arrives and all is blasting everywhere – it has been too many days without an orgasm like this. I think that all went well because this is the first time in like 1 month where I did not cry in silence due to the break-up with my ex Thai boyfriend. Hopefully, this is a sign of more good fun to cum…
He cleans up and leaves. I shower and as it is now 5:15 pm, I jump on my motorbike to go up the mountain coastal road – as I want to try to catch the sunset. Unlike Jomtien, the sun sets behind the city – as opposed over the sea – as the East Sea (aka South China Sea – but NEVER say this in Vietnam – as you will be chastised) is facing east and the sun sets in the west.
As we are still in the 5 day long weekend holiday of the 50 year National Reunification celebrations, the beach road is literally blocked. It is like a mass pandemonium – as everyone is trying to find parking and run onto the beach sand or into the sea. It is like this for 5km, until I get to where the city limits end and the road narrows and starts to go up into the mountain. It was very stressful driving – but in slow motion – as it is quasi gridlock. I read in the local news that local Da Nang hotels are close to 90% occupancy for this 5 day weekend – amazing.

At the overlook point that I had in mind, it is already packed – but there is still enough room to park my motorbike and I start to take some pictures and some selfies, when this young Russian guy, Nikita offers to take my pictures. Nikita is cute in a kind of Russian way. He tells me that he is able to sustain himself in Da Nang on only $1,020 USD per month – I am impressed.
Sunset from Son Tra mountain coastal road – too many clouds made the sunset hazy
Nikita is super friendly and he is alone here in Da Nang. He is madly in love with his girlfriend (he shows me some pictures of her – and she is absolutely beautiful) but she only wants a friendship with him. We talk for quite a while, but it is getting dark and I want to get back into the city, as I don’t feel comfortable driving in the dark mountain roads with my motorbike.
I forgot to mention in yesterday’s trip report update, that while I was at the Lady Buddha temple grounds – I was trying to take some selfies of the city view when this very sexy young Italian guy from Verona, who asked me to take his pictures – which I did – but only if he reciprocated the favor. I had a strong feeling that this guy was a possible “friend of Dorothy” (i.e., gay), but he was with a tour group and when him and I were becoming super friendly, his tour guide called him away from me. Also, I was pretty much focused on my mother’s birthday yesterday – so I was not in the right frame of mind for some fast cruising.
I head back to the city and the pandemonium is still underway – but now in the reverse with a gazillion people trying to leave the beach and randomly crossing the 6 lane beach road (3 lanes each way) to get back to their cars, hotels, or over to the other side of the Han River into the proper Da Nang city center. I manage to get the motorbike back to my condo but my nerves are frazzled and I head over to my favorite place for dinner, and I order my favorite dish, the Houston Platter, with an ice cold Saigon beer.
Afterwards back to my room and after about 1 hour I am already sleeping.

santosh108 reacted to PeterRS in GAY ICONS 6: “FUCK OFF I’M GAY”This time an icon who fortunately remains with us even though now well into his 80s. On a visit to Scotland during my student years, I was exceedingly fortunate to catch a couple of plays being performed at the celebrated Edinburgh International Festival, Shakespeare's “Richard II” and Marlowe's “Edward II”. Playing the title role of each king was a young English actor about whom there was a considerable buzz in theatrical circles. The friend who accompanied me was then at drama school and madly in love with him. Unfortunately, he told me, the actor already had a steady boyfriend. That was the first time I knew Ian McKellen was gay.
The young McKellen as Shakespeare's "Richard II": Photo Prospect Theatre Company
Outside the theatre ‘business’ the public had little idea that this young man emerging as one of Britain's finest stage actors was anything other than a hot-blooded young alpha-male. Actors were never identified with their roles, which was just as well for one very much in the closet. The character of Edward II is not only bisexual – or possibly even gay, he comes to an especially nasty end when his enemies at court thrust a red-hot poker up his anus. The very conservative Edinburgh audience was shocked with elderly matrons walking out and many indignant letters sent to the press.
A love scene between King Edward II and his favourite, Piers Gaveston, played by actor James Laurenson: Photo Central Press
Having been at Oxford University with several friends who were to become theatrical luminaries in their own right (the director of “CATS” and “Les Misérables” as well as future head of the National Theatre, Trevor Nunn, and fellow actor Derek Jacobi), Ian McKellen was already known in the business and marked for success. He joined both the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre where his roles included Macbeth and Iago in “Othello”. In tandem he worked on a host of contemporary commercial plays in London's West End and occasionally on Broadway. In New York he had a huge success as Salieri in the Peter Schaffer play “Amadeus” when he won every possible award. Back in England, he even took on a role in the very British Christmas pantomime entertainment, playing Widow Twanky in “Aladdin”.
As a gloriously camp Widow Twanky: Photo Manuel Harlan
Like many of his generation of British actors, he was late making the move to Hollywood. After a few smaller roles, he played the aging lead of a famously gay Broadway producer in "Gods and Monsters", a role for which he was nominated for an Oscar. Soon after, his movie career shot him to worldwide stardom through his roles in the “X-Men” series and Peter Jackson's “Lord of the Rings” Trilogy followed by “The Hobbit”. Before then, though, he had finally decided at age 49 to come out publicly. Violently opposed to a proposed policy of Margaret Thatcher’s government to prohibit city councils from promoting homosexuality, he made his own sexuality unexpectedly known in a radio programme. Around this time he claims he was visited by Britain’s Environment Secretary, Michael Howard. Howard refused to lobby against the new policy. He then had the cheek to ask McKellen if he would sign autographs for his children. McKellan agreed to do so, but added the words “Fuck off, I’m gay!”
Such an admission could have had a negative effect on his career. Not so for McKellen. Only three years later Queen Elizabeth conferred on him a knighthood for services to the Performing Arts. Since then, being an openly gay public figure Sir Ian has helped by lending his support to a host of gay causes and organizations, not limited to his native country. Invited to perform "King Lear" in Singapore in 2007, the city state which still had anti-gay laws on its statute books, he took part in a 'live' morning radio show. When asked what he would like to see in Singapore, he quipped, "Can you recommend a nice gay bar?" Allegedly the programme controller had a fit and pulled the plug on the rest of interview. Some years later, Sir Ian recorded a video message to be played prior to the Shanghai Gay Pride Parade. At home he is a co-founder of Stonewall UK.
An atheist, for a time he was especially concerned that copies of the Old Testament were placed in every hotel room in the USA. He particularly disliked the passages in Leviticus which warn men about “lying” with other men. Whether this is true or not, it was openly discussed that he would always rip out those pages before replacing the book back in its drawer!
Sir Ian has always had a wide variety of very close friends, far from all being gay. Perhaps the most famous is the actor he met in the 1970s when both were members of the Royal Shakespeare Company. McKellen was playing major roles. His friend describes himself at that time as “little more than a jobbing actor with a wife and two young children, always a little intimidated by Ian.” That friend was Patrick Stewart. In 2013 the two played on consecutive nights in Samuel Becket’s “Waiting for Godot” and Harold Pinter’s “No Man’s Land” on both Broadway and then on tour in the United Kingdom.
Stewart and McKellen in "Waiting for Godot": Photo Joan Marcus
When Hollywood beckoned, it was first for Stewart when cast in the hugely successful “Star Trek: The Next Generation” television series in 1987. It was another 11 years before McKellen landed his starring role as the ageing real-life gay movie director James Whale in “Gods and Monsters”.
The friendship with Stewart was renewed a year later when both were selected to star in the first of the “X-Men” movies. So close have the two friends become that the tabloids call it “the most famous bromance in Hollywood”. For Stewart’s third marriage in 2013, McKellen flew from London to New York to officiate at the ceremony.
McKellen went on to even greater international success in Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy followed by “The Hobbit”. At the same time he has actively encouraged young gay men, especially well-known personalities, to sweep away the closet. In Gayety magazine earlier this year he was quoted as saying, “I have never met anybody who came out who regretted it. Being in the closet is silly. Don’t listen to your advisers, listen to your heart. Listen to your gay friends who know better. Come out. Get into the sunshine.”
At the venerable age of 85, there seems no stopping this modest knight, a gentle man for whom gay activism is as much part of his DNA as is the stage and screen.

santosh108 reacted to PeterRS in Patpong comings and goingsYou will love Danang and the area. I started a 10 day trip 5 years ago just as the airlines were stopping flights due to covid. Hoi An just 30 minutes away is a glorious little town, with lanterns lit up everywhere in the evenings.
There is also at the west end a 15th century Japanese bridge
In the centre of this area is the large city of Danang with its fabulously long beaches
A little further north there is the old Imperial capital of Hue. The French destroyed much of it, espeically the imperial palace, but it is slowly being restored. This was the scene of a lot of fighting during the Vietnam War.
Sorry we have moved somewhat away from Patpong! Not much gay life in the cities but my app started buzzing even before I was out of arrival at Danang airport.

santosh108 reacted to PeterRS in TALES from a GAY LIFE (mostly in Asia) – Part 7I am not mentioning Hong Kong here, even though I lived and/or worked there for all of 38 years. The gay scene has changed so much in recent years and the places I used to visit are virtually all gone now. It suddenly became a very cruisy city after 1991 when the old British Victorian law against homosexuality was finally changed. All manner of bars, clubs and saunas sprang up. The beach at Middle Bay close to Repulse Bay on the south of the Island became very cruisy at the week-ends with action in the changing rooms. The centrally located Propaganda nightclub was hugely popular, later to be renamed Works. I once met another Taiwanese there maybe around 20 years ago. We both got rather drunk and he came back to my apartment. At one point when in bed he told me to stop what I was doing, close my eyes and stay still. He went to the bathroom but quickly returned. He had filled his mouth with warm water into which he then placed my dick. It was a wonderful sensation I had never had before.
Also within Asia I have visited and written photo blog posts about my two visits to Nepal and one to Bhutan, both fascinating trips. I know that I have been extremely fortunate in working mostly for international companies based in Hong Kong, for the regular travel to regional and head office meetings not only enabled me to take many side trips - thank you those round-the-world air tickets! - but also resulted in tons of air miles.
For a decade I used some for annual business class trips to spend New Year with friends in one of my favourite cities, Sydney. Others resulted in photo blog posts to several countries in South America, including Chilean Patagonia and Machu Picchu; to Petra; to seeing the Northern Lights from a frozen lake near the lodge where I was staying far beyond the Arctic Circle, mercifully on the very last day of a 9-day excursion; and in 2017 an amazing two weeks in Iran. It really is so desperately sad that this absolutely wonderful country and its lovely people are ruled by mullahs they all seem to loathe. I would go back like a shot if it was not now so dangerous. The astonishing ruins at Persepolis; the desert city of Yazd where the world's oldest monotheistic religion, Zoroastrianism, was founded with images of its arms-stretched out all-wise deity Ahura-Mazda everywhere; the utter magnificence of the main square in Isfahan with its two stunning mosques and royal palace; the simple quite lovely beauty of the gardens in Kashan (the Persian word for garden basically meaning Paradise) and the majesty of the religious centre of Qom where I was shown round by a young mullah who could not have been more kind to this unbeliever!
With age creeping up and much less desire to travel given that I have already seen so much of our world, my trips are limited mostly to Taipei several times a year to meet up with my good friends there, once a year to Japan and once to Europe, mostly to meet up with similarly ageing family members. Lastly, though let me return to a subject I mentioned in part 1 – history, and specifically a series of gay icons.
Before then I will pause. The final part of this overlong blog posting will refer specifically to Gay Guides websites in which I have described travels, many with photos, to some of the countries/cities/events referred to above. Hopefully they will still be of interest to some. Tnank you for reading thus far.

santosh108 reacted to FunFifties in Cambodia January 2025Recently completed my first trip to Cambodia. I absolutely loved it, so here are a few highlights, starting with 6 days in Siem Reap.
I traveled over land from Bangkok by train to Aranya Prathet. The train is 3rd class only, so it was a warm and dusty affair, but really cheap. I forgot the exact price, but less than 100 baht for the train ticket. There are two trains a day - one early morning and one around 1 pm. Train departs from the old Bangkok Central Station and is scheduled to take 4,5 hours, but I was warned that there were often delays. I was on the afternoon train and it was only about an hour late, so I had time to cross the border at Poi Pet before it closed at 10 pm. I crossed the border and had a meal while I set up the e-sim I had bought to access data in Cambodia.
VID_20250115_124544.mp4
I then proceeded to find out if I could get to Siem Reap the same evening, and was squeezed into a Phnom Penh bound sleeper bus that dropped me off in Siem Reap around midnight.
A few days before my trip started, I had tried Grindr’s roaming function to see if I could make any contacts before arriving to Siem Reap. I made a few and one of them, an early twenties college student, was very eager to meet me and we kept in touch as my journey progressed. Since I was a day early, I asked him to call my hotel to see if they could accommodate me already.
I stayed in the King’s Rock hotel thanks to @vinapu's recommendation from a previous trip report. I found it good value for money, conveniently located, and visitor friendly.
I spend 6 nights in Siem Reap. First day I explored the town itself with college student as my guide. The next three days I had booked a private tour of the big and small temple loop on the first two days and a trip to Kulen mountain on the third. I booked through Affinity tours and was very pleased with the experience.
In the evenings I went out with college student for dinner and drinks and he slept over most nights. On a saturday evening we visited Bar Code for the drag show which started at 9 and finished around midnight. It was not as polished as Stranger Bar in Bangkok, but more camp and equally fun. Besides college student I hooked up with two more guys I met via Grindr. One mid thirties with a great body whom I met twice, and one early twenties cutie who asked for 20 usd which I was happy to give him. There were also offers of massages on Grindr, but between all the sightseeing and me enjoying the company of college student there wasn’t really time to check out that scene.
My next stop was Battambang - plan to report on that stop in the near future.

santosh108 reacted to simcity in The effects of drugs in gay community'sIt is nice to see someone giving good information.
I have experience (over 1 year+ perhaps 2) with sex drug, retired at 40, getting bored with the routine (Telephone bar, DJ etcetera) fall in it pretty heavy (perhaps 2 times a week)…
15 years ago this was not main stream..and i am certain some of you want to know what i tried: Main was T (ice / meth) smoke only, Foxy, K (ketamine), GHB, E (ecstasy).
Sure sex is good but it is never perfect (and every little thing multiply x 100)… quality (drugs) went down greatly.. After a while I just stop, my experience was done!
Absolutely I do not regret it, learn a lot with myself and became wiser from it.. but it is very easy to take a bad turn or meet wrong people.
Now I am 67 - 100% healthy eater, rarely drink.

You're right..... why you drinking so early, frustrated and alone again?
I'm kind of impressed that you talk about my ass so much.....seeing that you like hairless child sized dicks like a pedo does....or will that hit you too close to home because you deflect that others in Pattaya are like that ☠️

santosh108 reacted to a-447 in Phnom Penh reportThe Soma massage is right next to my hotel so I decided to give it a try.
I asked for a male masseur and one soon turned up with a basin to wash my feet. He seemed to have a great body but, of course, he was fully-clothed. And he was wearing a mask.
We headed upstairs where he told me to change into some baggy pants and t-shirt while he waited outside. Not a good start.
I last down on my dich and he worked on my back and legs for an inordinately long time. His m massaged my butt but his hand never stayed into my crack. And certainly no "accidental" brushing of the balls. Oh, dear.
After I'd turned over things slightly improved with the odd touching of my cock. Instant hard-on. Then he moved down to my feet again.
"Hey! What are you doing? I've got a hard-on, for Christ's sake! Doesn't that tell you something? Hello!!" I thought.
A bit further into the massage he at last asked me what I wanted.
"We jack each other off. Ok?"
"How much you pay?"
"$20"
"I want $30."
Now, he had me in a vulnerable position - I was horny add hell, so I agreed.
I asked him to take off his pants but he only pulled them down a bit so I could grab the goods. Nice hard Cambodian cock.
I tried to "smoke" him but he wasn't having any of that. He then told me he wouldn't cum.
In the end, I just paid him $20 and he seemed ok with that. I thought I'd actually over -paid him because the hand-job was nothing special.
I'll try and find another place tomorrow where the boys are more "amenable."

I had an unusual itinerary where I flew Air Asia to Bangkok from Kuala Lumpur. Air Asia uses Don Muang airport. I seldom have reason to go through Don Muang - must have been at least 10 - 12 years since I last did, coming in from Chiang Mai. At that time, there was no easy rail connection to get downtown from Don Muang. But now there is the Red Line connecting the airport to the spanking new Krungthep Apiwat central rail hub.
I made a careful note of how I got from Don Muang to Sukhumvit-Asok (where my hotel was) by rail. Possibly this may be useful information for others. It took me 1 hr 15 minutes between exiting the Customs gate after landing and reaching Sukhumvit MRT station (Blue line).
The same blue MRT line continues to Silom and Samyan MRT station. Just add a few minutes more.
The first step is to get from the International terminal of Don Muang airport to Don Muang train station (run by the State Railway of Thailand SRT). It's a bit of a walk (15 minutes), but nearly all in airconditioned comfort. I had to go southwards from Terminal 1 (International) via the full length of Terminal 2 (domestic) till I reached the south end of Terminal 2. Then there is a bridge over the highway; the bridge connects to Don Muang train station.
For an overview, here is a sketch map:
First, walk to the south end of Terminal 1. There, near a money changer and a 7-eleven store, you'll see a sign saying "SRT Red Line".
The route takes you past nice toilets. A good spot to get a leak before the long trip downtown. Every now and then, there's a sign, assuring you that you're going in the right direction.
Then you enter Terminal 2
Keep walking, Look carefully, and there are signs indicating "Red Line".
Finally, at the southernmost end of Terminal 2, it said to go up an escalator.
At the top of the escalator, more convenience. There's a Magic Food Court.
Finally, you turn right and get to a pedestrian bridge that crosses the highway. In fact, you can already see the elevated train station at the upper right corner of the window.
At Don Muang train station, tickets to Krungthep Apiwat station (20 baht) can be bought either from machines or a manned counter. I had to struggle a bit with the machines. They just wouldn't accept my 20-baht notes (tried several times). I had to insert a 100-baht note, but then it gave me eight 10-baht coins in change.
This is the platform level of Don Muang train station. Take care that you're on the right platform for the train going to Krungthep Apiwat. The station is not the final stop for the trains; they run north to Rangsit as well as south to Krungthep Apiwat and beyond. Take the south-bound.
Inside of a carriage. Lots of room for luggage. I don't know if it can get crowded at other times, though. There seems to be a train every 15 minutes or so.
On reaching Krungthep Apiwat after only 15-16 minutes, you can't miss the signs for the MRT blue line.
You will need to exit the SRT fare gate, go through an underground tunnel to get to Bang Sue MRT station. Including buying an MRT ticket at Bang Sue, it took me about 8 minutes' walking. (the fare to Sukhumvit station was 41 baht). Then take care again to board at the correct platform. That they have mounted a big sign suggests that many people make mistakes.
The blue line took 23 minutes to get from Bang Sue to Sukhumvit station. Total time = 1 hour, 15 minutes. Total cost = 20 baht + 41 baht = 61 baht. Precisely because my hotel was in the Sukhumvit area, notorious for choked traffic, I was glad I didn't have to rely on taxis. Taxis might also have cost me 7 - 8 times more, and I don't know how much in tolls might be involved.
Hmmm... two pictures seem to be repeated at the bottom of the post. don't know how to remove them without screwing up everything else. Please ignore. the last two pics.

santosh108 reacted to vinapu in Phnom Penh, Angkor, Koh Ker and Sambor Prey Kuk - trip to Cambodia in Jan 2024Day 12
Today we repeated yesterday’s morning routine, breakfast was quite pleasant affair as I noticed few other patrons including few young girls were following S when he was picking his food and drinks and I swear I was object of their jealousy having landed such handsome guy in jeans showing quite a nice bulge. Doubt anybody was thinking ‘ oh that’s is guy with his grandson” . I did not mind S sending some smiles toward those girls fully knowing who winner is, let them have it.
Today’s destination is Sambor Prey Kuk, temple complex predating Angkor with most temples made not of stone but of bricks from 7th century on, located near Khompong Thom , half way to Phnom Penh. It took us 3 hours to get there.
Entry is 10$ , they suggested hiring guide for the same amount and I agreed . She even dragged with her another girl- guide in training. Having guide there is good idea as objects are dispersed in the forest , trails are well marked but still on you own one may miss this or that.
It took us about 3 hours to visit every corner, I tipped that trainee 5$ then we went to local restaurant for a meal , 16.50 $ for three, not a bad deal .
Again long trip home , fortunately today Saturday traffic was quite light and it was driver suggestion we go there on Saturday as he was afraid Sunday traffic will be heavier.
At home S suggested artistic part – dinner with Apsara traditional dance show on Pub Street so we went there. I like when my travel companions have own ideas not only asking “what we are doing now ? ”. At the table beside us young farang couple was sitting and I noticed both of them were paying an attention to S presence . Bit later when we had chance meeting on the street they even said " Hi " to him ignoring me entirely. You can't imagine how my fragile ego was hurt at that moment
I meantime S got message from his bar friend , Siem Reap native, who came to see his folks at home and when he show me his picture it turned out I also know him from 2 long time offs, one threesome included. So we went to see him , he was dining with another boy and somebody suggested ‘lets go check Barcode “.
I offered to finance that escapade but at the door we were sent away- today bar closed for some private function. Other two boys said they are going to bed and that was idea S and I borrowed from them so we parted ways every couple marching to different bed. I had another senior moment – why I did not suggest “ lets go all to our room”. Knowing that friend there was chance idea would be approved. Oh well. S and me still managed to had some fun including feasting on some pistachios and fruit while sitting naked on balcony right above hotel’s pool closed at that hour.

A great less expensive way of seeing the Norwegian coast and fjords is the daily Hurtigruten ferries. Take the amazing train ride from Oslo to Bergen and then stay on the ferry right up past the Arctic Circle to basically the top of the civilised world if you wish. The only problem is that the cabins are very small. But I thoroughly enjoyed my four days November trip some years ago.

santosh108 reacted to PeterRS in Lonely Planets' Recommended Travel ListsYes, "lists" is correct. Not content with just a list of the ten best places to visit, Lonely Planey outdoes its competitors with five separate lists. The Best Travel 2024 list has no less than five different categories - Countries, Regions, Cities, Sustainable Travel and Best Value. Results are in many cases surprising.
Best Country is Mongolia. Now I wonder if that country is even included in any other list!
Best Region is Western Balkans Trans Dinarica Cycling Route. Well, and what if I don't fancy cycling? You'll probably prefer #5, Southern Thailand.
Best City is Nairobi. Huh? Not for gay travellers. it ain't. Homosexuality can be punished by between 5 and 21 years in jail. Stick to #2 which is Paris - as long as you can avoid the bedbugs LOL
Best Sustainable Destination is Spain. This is largely because of the country's efforts to expand renewable energy and bring tourism to hitherto emerging areas. I totaly agree with £2 on the list - Argentinean and Chilean Patagonia. Sorry if this is repeating photos, but I utterly adored my trip there way back in 2010.
Torres del Paine National Park with great views from the mega-expensive Explora Hotel
Guanocos are watching you!
Perito Moreno Glacier
Best Value is the USA's Mid West. Well I suppose if you take a gun with you, maybe so. The blurb stresses the cities of Chicago, Milwaukee and Detroit. Huh? Chicago is cheap? Not when I have been there!
