  1. Will do! Sounds absolutely delightful and I'm looking forward to checking out all the displays!
  2. I’m very excited to be going to Thailand again, in January. The last time I was there was in June/July this year which was the first time after a 2.5 year absence. This trip will only be very short as it will be book ended by family commitments in the Philippines and then work commitments back home. Thanks to some suggestions here I’ve decided to spend 2 days in Pattaya and 4 days in Bangkok. In Pattaya I originally wanted to stay at Welcome World Beach Resort as I wanted a room with an ocean view, so I messaged them on Line to check what their joiner policy was, but they didn’t get back to me for nearly 2 days so I booked other accommodation in the meantime. Turns out they charge 800 baht for joiners which I’m not really prepared to pay. I ended up booking at the Agate which I have not stayed at before but seems to be positively reviewed. I can just go to the beach during the day. The last time I was in Jomtien I didn’t have the best time as I was a little unprepared as to how the host bars work, so I’ll read up on that. There are also the apps, which I found to be successful as I met a bar boy there and subsequently offed him 3 times. As for Bangkok, I’ve booked at the Tarntawan as I’ve stayed there before and I’ve found it comfortable and affordable, and I do like the security aspect that the guys have to leave their ID at the door/reception. It’s only a short trip so I plan to fit in as much as I can (might have to start early and have 2 guys per night lol), but I am very much looking forward to it. Trip report to come!
  3. Also, I forgot to ask, how much did you tip the driver?
  4. Thank you for your report. I will be going to Pattaya next month and I usually take the bus from Suvarnabhumi but I was toying with the idea that this time I might take a taxi, and your report was helpful in helping me make my decision.
  5. I'll be arriving at around 11am, so starting in Pattaya does seem like a good choice. I usually just take a combination of ARL/MRT/walk or ARL/BTS/walk. Rolling a suitcase from Silom or Sala Daeng station is always a fun time lol. Yes to all of the above! Massages - yes, restaurants - yes, gogo/host bars - gogo preferred but host can do also, twinks/masculine - I like both, but at the end of the day I will usually go with whoever has the nicest face (amongst other things), sky bars - they are nice, but not too fussed, shopping - I'm not a big shopper like I used to be but I like both malls and markets. I like the way you divided it up - I'll be there for 6 days, so now I'm actually thinking 2 in Pattaya and 4 in Bangkok rather than 3 and 3, thanks for the suggestion!. Bangkok is my favourite but I would like a bit of a beach getaway too. Ah this is what I did not quite think about! Thank you for alerting me to this as it is quite an important factor in deciding where to stay!
  6. And just to hijack my own thread, if one was to spend a short amount of time in Thailand, would you prefer: 1. Bangkok then Pattaya 2. Pattaya then Bangkok 3. Just Bangkok. Can't really decide, all I have booked is the flight in and out of BKK and they are at reasonable times.
  7. Ah yep makes sense, cheers. I probably should have said 'ocean view', that's what I'm after.
  8. Hi all. I’ve managed to book myself a short Thailand holiday in between family and work commitments, was hoping for 2 weeks but could only manage 6 days, but any time in Thailand is better than no time in Thailand I reckon. Anyhow, I’m toying with spending half the time in Bangkok and the other in Pattaya (Jomtien), and I’m kinda wanting a hotel with a balcony with a beach view. Has anyone stayed at Welcome World Beach Resort or Avalon Beach Resort? Do these hotels have beach views? If not, is there anything around the general area that would be suitable? Cheers!
  9. I'm pretty shy and introverted, so likely won't start a conversation with anyone, however I will attempt conversation if someone talks to me, I'm just not very good at it lol. I prefer gogo bars as I feel there isn't so much of the social aspect there compared to a host bar. I can just happily watch the show by myself, have a drink and choose a guy, plus conversation is too hard anyway due to a combination of English skills and the deafening volume of the speakers.
  10. I have a regular in dreamboys who is not shy to kiss me in the bar, but then again it's probably because he is a regular.
  11. I've used them twice - CNX to HKT and HKT to BKK. Can't fault them really, to be honest I can't remember much about the flights so it must have been non-eventful which is good in a way.
  12. Perfect opportunity then to practice my topping skills as I usually seem to be on the bottom!
  13. I think another trip to Thailand is on the cards, but I'd like to visit somewhere new - perhaps Taiwan or Japan. Other than that, just staying healthy and maybe working on my fitness as it is usually ignored..

7/11 for sure, and in a pinch, some hotel mini bars stock them also. Bars guys usually bring some too.
  15. Great, thank you!
  16. Quick question - do you take prep daily, or do you take it as needed? I've been meaning to go on prep but I don't know whether it would be worth going on the daily prep as I hardly ever get any action here in my home country, or just use it as needed whilst I am in Thailand.. there is like a holiday dosage, I forget how it works but it was explained to me by my GP.
  17. I was raised catholic, but am more agnostic these days. I respect religion (as long as it's not shoved down my throat), but it's the religious extremists that sprout hate that ruin it.

Also depending on how much luggage you have, the BTS will likely be quite full at that time of the day so it would be a little difficult to travel with a suitcase. MRT possibly a little quieter? May I also suggest if you go the MRT route, get off one station after Silom - Sam Yan. The walk is a little further but you don't have to cross busy Surawong Rd to get to the Raya. If it is raining, then I would forego the above options and just catch a taxi!
  19. I sometimes wore a mask in Bangkok prior to the pandemic, and when I was there in June/July I also wore a mask. For me I liked the added benefit of providing me with kinda a sense of anonymity and also because I look ethnically ambiguous I just kinda blend in when wearing a mask, often being mistaken for a local.
  20. My situation is somewhat similar to @vaughn - Australia, in my 30's, comfortable life, with a kinda specialised field. In the next few years I hope to have a year off from 'life' and have a go at living in Thailand, learning the language and whatnot. Then can decide if I want to stay and find a job, or try another country, possibly China or Singapore. It would involve giving up my comfortable life, but I really just want to do something else for a while as I've never experienced living or working anywhere else in the world. I can always come back if it all goes to shit.
  21. This sounds exciting! Can't wait to hear what unfolds!
  22. I also hired Woody as my guide when I was in Chiang Mai a couple of months ago, and visited Classic House too! Glad to hear business is picking up a little.
  23. I've only been to Jomtien once and had an average time compared to Bangkok, but willing to give it another try - I like it because it is walking distance from the Suvarnabhumi bus station (I like to walk to most places - I'm scared of riding motorbikes, and haven't quite worked out how to use the baht bus) and it is near the beach where I like to hang out during the day. I'm just uncertain how to host bars work - when I was last there I had a bar guy come on to me quite strongly so I ended up offing him even though he wasn't really my type, but didn't know what to do lol. Another guy I offed I just found on Grindr. Gogo bars just seem easier. Any tips?
  24. It is their knee which makes contact with the pole! Anyhow, looking forward to hearing about your adventures!
  25. I will happily take all of the tattooed boys! 😍
