Final thoughts And just like that, my trip is over. This particular trip was special because not only for the fact it was my first international trip after a 2.5 year absence, but because it provided me an escape as I had been going through some shit in the weeks prior to my trip. Now being back home, I need to deal with reality again, and more than ever yearning to be back in Thailand. December/January could be an option for my next trip. My final 2 nights were spent in Dreamboys, and since I had been there a number of times I was becoming more familiar with the staff - I don't know the name of the mamasan, the smaller, older guy, but he was really nice and always knew my drink order. My 2nd final night I spent with a dreamboy, not my regular one, but another one that I had my eye one. He was decent though and softly spoken. He also took me back to the hotel on his motorbike, which by the way I am deathly afraid of, but it was only a short distance and I told him to go slow which he did. My final night was spent with my dreamboy regular for the 5th time. I've spoken about him before but he is excellent and my favourite. I even told him that - I said that even if I go with 100 boys, he will always be my favourite. Since I had an early morning flight, after he left, I spent some time packing and checking out at about 3:30am and going to the airport. The weather - going out every day in shorts and a shirt was delightful when it is the middle of winter in my country. Our winter's are pretty mild but I would still prefer the heat. 7/11 - I loved being able to get decently priced snacks and drinks 24/7, and seemingly seeing the same cute guy(s?) serving me no matter what time I am there (I frequented the 7/11 just in front of the Tarntawan). Tarntawan Hotel - it's showing its age, but it is a nice hotel and very conveniently located. I like the safety aspect how guys need to leave their ID at reception. Staff are always friendly. Bum guns - going back to just toilet paper seems gross now. Public transport - being able to get to a BTS/MRT station and having the train show up within a few minutes, and not having to rely on a train timetable is amazing. Food - so much variety and at so many price points. You want a cheap meal? Sure thing. You want something fancy and expensive? You can have that too. And of course the guys - some are better than others, but it is always nice to spend time with these young men. Anyway, thanks for reading, and whilst waiting patiently for my next trip, I look forward to reading many more trip reports now that international travel is becoming easier and easier.

The room type I chose for this leg of the trip was the 'executive' and even though it is smaller than the corner suite I stayed in previously, I think I like this one better as it has a full length floor to ceiling window and a view which gives it a brighter feel (the corner suite felt a little dark and there was not much of a view). I also developed this cough which has mostly gone now, and earlier in the trip I found some red dots that appeared on my leg which I thought may have been monkey pox so I went to the hospital - turns out they were (I think) burst blood vessels and the doctor gave me some tablets and topical medicine (which I didn't end up taking, but the dots went away on their own). I've been doing a lot of walking though, went to some of the shopping malls (central world, Siam paragon etc), and have been eating a wide assortment of food - stuff from 7/11, local Thai food from grab, and sit down restaurants in shopping centres. I even tried out a vegan restaurant which was nice. There have also been numerous times where I am spoken to in Thai, which amuses me, so perhaps I had better learn a little of the language so I am able to answer back in Thai rather than just looking confused before they realise I'm not actually Thai. I have 2 more days here before I go back to my reality, and definitely will look forward to my next trip now that international travel is more accessible - hopefully the end of the year.

I agree with you here. I'm the kind of person that is adaptable and flexible to the situation presented to me, however when they don't even touch you it gets old pretty quick. I respect their boundaries though and would never force anything they are not comfortable with, so for me I think I probably need to be a little more pickier in my selection so that all parties are satisfied. Yes! Being versatile definitely opens more options.

Some thoughts about Phuket. Tourism is starting to pick up again which is great, and even though it’s slightly busy, it’s not at pre-pandemic levels just yet. I’ve been here once before and I decided to visit again as I wanted a bit of a beach holiday. I stayed in party central patong (which is not really my scene, but I thought I would try) and don’t really recommend Seaview hotel for a number of reasons, one of which is I was put into a room with an adjoining door and I could hear everything very clearly from the room next door (including s3x, but fortunately, or unfortunately for them, it did not last too long). I did book the cheapest room type though and I didn’t really complain as I was only there 2 nights. Can’t fault the service though, it was actually very good. They also played the Thai national anthem at 8am each morning quite loudly and I’ve never experienced that in a hotel before. In terms of guys, I visited 4 massage in the past and I thought I would return as I had a good experience previously. The guy that massaged me in the past still worked there and remembered me (but not quite at first) but I chose him and fun times ensued. Later on after exchanging line details he even invited me to have drinks with him later, which I thought was nice, but declined in the end. Grindr has been a lot more active than in bkk and cnx and 2 guys I was chatting to also worked at 4 massage. I told them they can massage me next time I come to Phuket. Phuket is generally a little pricey but it’s a good time to travel now. Hotel prices are decent and it’s not yet overrun with tourists. Would I come back? The past few days have been spent in Chiang Mai, which I’ll get to soon but my last night in Bangkok (part 1) I didn’t end up going to any bars. On my first day I hired a guide from Siam roads and we went around Doi Inthanon national park, went to the highest point in Thailand (amazing how the weather is so much different at the top of the mountain - it was quite cool), looked at some waterfalls which were beautiful and also visited Pha Chor which is a really cool rock formation. So many steps up and down though throughout the day. I was wrecked by the end of it. The second day I walked the perimeter of the old city which took a good few hours as I had to stop 3 times when it started raining. The hotel I stayed at was DusitD2 which was quite good, it has a pool and gym etc but I didn’t check them out. This hotel had carpet which I hadn’t ever seen in a Thai hotel before, and it didn’t have a bum gun which was disappointing. But it was neat and tidy. I visited classic house a couple of times, massages were good, and afters were also good. Nothing particular earth shattering but enjoyable nonetheless. Coincidentally the 2 guys that I chose (on separate occasions) both had mooks - first time I’ve encountered them. Next stop is Phuket for a bit, then back to Bangkok. Just regarding tip expectations, my last trip in 2019 I didn't discuss the tip beforehand with any of the guys and they were all happy with 2000 baht, which is why I didn't bother discussing the tip beforehand. I understand that inflation happens, and not being able to work for a while during the pandemic so I'm happy to go a little higher if required. I was in Freshboys last night and the mamasan actually told me to tip my guy 2000 baht. I think in future I will discreetly discuss the tip with the guy just so we are all on the same page. Massage: I've been to Prime twice so far, and it is top quality. Both times I had a 1 hour foot/1 hour Thai massage, which were great, but today I think I may not go back as the guy yesterday went pretty hard and I am still a little sore and need some time to recover. It is 500 baht for the 1 hour foot/1 hour Thai and I've been tipping the guys the same amount as the massage cost. The place runs like a well-oiled machine and smells really nice. Tawan: I went here on my first night, and to be honest, the guys at Tawan aren't necissarily my type (apart from that one 'smaller' guy) but I was curious and wanted to expand my horizons so to speak. I have been waiting for the day where I could visit Thailand again, and in a week's time will be that day! I'm super excited. Leaving and entering my country has become quite straight forward, as has Thailand and I finally have some time. Applying for the Thai Pass was pretty straight forward, and even though I know it won't be required anymore from July 1, I will be arriving a few days beforehand. Starting and ending in Bangkok, I'll be keeping it flexible for 3 weeks and probably will visit Chiang Mai and Phuket too. The last time I was there was in December 2019, just before the pandemic, and I have been itching to go back for so long. Anyway, trip report to come at some point, just wanted to share my excitement!

I stayed at the Raya back in 2019 and quite liked it. The rooms were spacious, and the location is convenient. The only drawback (for me) was crossing Surawong Road.. there just seemed to be an endless stream of traffic and it was difficult to cross. I can't remember what sort of room I booked but I had a window, and a balcony. Not sure if it was meant to be used as a balcony as I had to climb out the window to use it, but it was there nonetheless.
