If I am not mistaken, BKK wanted to start immigration using machines for arriving passengers? Did anyone arrive in BKK in december and make a new electronic experience? So far, i have experienced the following: 1) Departing internationally from BKK: At immigration, scan passport, scan face, leave. Worked well, took only 5 seconds, no queue (ok was 6:00 am), no stamp in passport anymore. 2) Departing nationally from BKK Check-in-Computer suggested to register for face recognition for boarding pass free experience. Having enough time till departure, i decided to try it out: Scan passport, scan face, registration done. Next step is where you normally scan boarding pass. You go to different lane, look to camera and .... access denied! Tried one more time, didnt work. Asked staff, staff thought i didnt register for it, went to checkin terminal with me only to find out i did already register. Back to face recognition, tried different lane, tried without glasses, tried with glasses, access denied. So in the end used classic approach with long queue. Watched a few others trying face recognition, most got through, but not all of them. Overall I dont see the benefit, because a the gates itself is no face recognition, so you need the boarding pass anyway. So in total you have one additional step and you save one queue (if it worked). Not sure if that additional step has to be done at every checkin or just once. Anyone else made experiences with modern technology at BKK airport?
