I have always found that one of the great joys of travel is you can step out of your comfort zone and nobody cares. You are usually well away from your home environment. All it takes is the willpower to see new places and try new things. Not everything will be to your liking but you will be surprised how much will satisfy your desires. CB perhaps  sensed competition as his mood today Is completely different, nice to observe he become his former self. Financial matter settled I suggested we go to Golden Mount temple vis Saen Saep canal boat. He never went there that way and was not even aware about that commuter boat. So off we went. BTS  to National Stadium, then short walk to the boat and  at terminal another short walk to the temple itself.  He was serious with his prayers and I soaked in the atmosphere, enjoying nice breeze from the roof. Very calming experience  for both of us. We returned straight to Foodland for a meal and then retired to the room. As Obama would say ‘ yes I can” , fired up my smartphone and in few minutes we had ticket, slightly under  80$ one way.
He was not very happy with such arrangement as he still needs to travel about 5 hrs to his home town but at least that is solution to closed land borders. I was happy because it was cheaper option that one previously tabled.
Still it seems it’s hard to get him to be bit more intimate today so seeing that I decided to go for a walk which handily brought me to Arena, what a coincidence I’m telling you !

It was easy to get to as most Charoen Krung buses are going there. Nice setting  on the banks of Chao Praya with lots of shops and restaurants and crowded with tourists. I liked Ferris Wheel so we went there, not particularly cheap at 800 baht a ride but it was worth it for a view from above  and even better, since we were alone in the cabin we did some ‘ adults only stuff, nothing drastic but it was sneaky fun , stolen kiss here, , misplaced hand there, you get the picture. Best part it looks that gloom finally left CB and from then on things were more like in good old days.
Returned home by bus / BTS combination ( there’s direct bus  to and from Silom to Asiatique but after 10 mins of waiting I decided to jump on first going toward station ).
Around 10  we , at CB suggestion , went to Dreamboys . Far  from crowded  , certainly more boys than customers. Novelty was  quite big, 7 or 8 strong, pack of Indian tourists of mixed gender Not long ago almost impossible to see them I bars, now they are almost everywhere.  Funny part was they couldn’t figure out what the best spot is and changed seats at least 3 times.

Day 4
 Starting day at 11 am  seemed bit weird to me  but what the heck, I’m on vacation anyways. Today forced expulsion from hotel. We were informed 2 days ago that it will not be electricity in hotel today between 3 and 6 pm. So I decided to spend afternoon in Pattaya – Night Market, foot massage and pedicure, just to kill time,
Then to Jomtien bus station to buy ticket to Bangkok for to tomorrow and from there to Complex for dinner of chicken with cashew nuts at Sophia’s . There were 4 dinners at the time there and three of us had the same dish , including myself. It was almost 7 when I arrived to hotel, power was back !
 After few hours of rest and sprucing up I returned to Jomtien Complex hoping that Max hunt will materialize tonight. I parked myself over Chang at the Best Bar , noticed preparation to show outside but no sight of Max tonight either, Yesterday’s guy joined me for a beer and then another  round. We watched show together but discouraged by failure of my hunting mission I decided not to off anybody tonight.
 Show was entirely lip syncing by various ladyboys, not really my thing but still quite enjoyable because of selection of their hits  about half of them I know lyrics off and signed along , impressing my guy quite a lot! Of course tipped him for his time and past midnight actually walked  to hotel. After sitting whole evening I felt like I could use some exercise.

Don’t believe that dramatic tittle of the report. Yes, it was not one of best and memorable trips but still , when comes to boys,  it brought  plenty of fine moments. Still it did not work as planned and envisioned, partially because life intervened, partially because I made hasty decision so my sentiment reflected in the tittle about that trip is accurate.
 Original plane was 4 nights in Bangkok , followed by three in Pattaya, carefully chosen to coincide with show at The Best Bar in Jomtien as part of Maxhunt ( more about that in relevant part )  and then 6 days in Bangkok again.
Then life happened, owing to family matters  I was forced, or to be more accurate, I had chosen to be forced to cancel my original ticket. Since it was  low cost non-refundable one and I never buy trip cancellation insurance, it meant I threw 700 USD it originally cost to the dust bin. They were other related  costs amounting to roughly the same , before I stepped out of plane in Bangkok, three day later than planned,  I lost about 1400 $. No wonder I’m glad it’s over. Still , mind you I opted for that misery and I’m glad I did. Life, sigh.
Then before I even left home I noticed that one of my boys, lets call him Cambodian Boy (CB), changed his Line avatar to something teary. So out of curiosity I asked him if all is ok. It was not as he explained. Due to border dispute  between Thailand and Cambodia he was forced to leave his bar job , returned home  but told me he will come on 14 to utilize his 7 day visa, all currently available. I did not spill the beans that I  should be in Bangkok for part of his time there but I knew that first bar I visit will be Moonlight hoping for that big smile of surprise.
Anyways after all those tribulation , instead of Sunday I landed in Bangkok on Wednesday after having  extremely pleasant  last leg from Doha with all three seats in my row at my disposal.
 Day1
 
Landed early afternoon which is the best time as removes all problems with early check in in hotel and allows to change money at best places. Immigration was  a breeze this time , 5 minutes and I was out.
Speaking about changing money, in the basement by railway station I got 37.10 for euro, and assumption that it was the best rate lasted only until arrival at Phaya Thai station. Immediately after one leaves paid area there are two booths and one offered 37.28 and next one even 37.30. That rate , by the way was matched by XOne  hour or two later.
My original plan was to stay in Baan Silom but since my 4 night shrunk to one I went for Raya. Owing to low season that had very friendly rates. Settling there I went to post office as  had something to mail , then to XOne to change more money and finally to Foodland for my first chicken with cashews – sadly , this time very average. I love that first day there when I’m settling for promising trip buying necessities and checking what is new. Building rising out of soi Twilight ashes is almost completed , that was big and tall  new thing.
At 8 p.m. I parked myself in front of Banana Club , soon joined for a beer by one of their guys but since he is diminutive guy I was plain social occasion. Still gave him 2 reds for his company by way of patented ‘vinapu tuck”. Then he went inside and I strolled through both Patpongs , in Patpong 2 enthusiastically welcomed buy some guys knowing me from better times. I was tempted to enter Atlas as boys on the stage were in pure and tempting view  but one of them spotted me , went down from the stage and immediately lowered his briefs asking for a tip ”for food”. That was bit too fast so I politely explained I just arrived and did not have  a chance  to change money and declined invitation by boss himself to step inside. At that moment I was not even sure I will go inside that trip at all. I don’t mind spreading money but such antics were too fast moving for my taste.
At 10pm. I went to Moonlight and this is what I reported in “Patpong” thread on that day :
   “I was customer #6 . When show started at 10.30 grand total 12 customers. 10 models, Mean returned but Babe not present. New guy Joey with broad smile quite impressive.  About 8 floor boys but regretfully none of two I was hoping to see. I was disappointed I did not see neither  CB nor Y but at least M I offed twice in winter was on the stage and just before I was about to leave bar I motioned him to dress bypassing mamasan who use to leech to me from minute on I show in.
It must be dearth of clients because  even one of their models I had pleasure with before come to shake hands and exclaim ‘ long time no see you “.
 
Light dinner in Happy Beer Garden and soon M and I were in my room . M is not long time material and I did not expect him to stay past normal short time but low season kicked in and it was already  5 am when he suggested he will go home. Nice surprise for start of trip earning him extra 1000 in the process.
