  1. Decided to take advantage of Amex offer and fee free for the first year and see how it goes. Hopefully bag enough points to upgrade the odd economy fare into business.
  2. I don't normally fly with any one airline in particular but that is part of the reason for starting this thread. Having shopped around for deals on cheapest fares, by the time I add in the (often) extra costs associated with travel to the airport and possible overnight accommodation, the savings can be minimal. I am now looking for my best option - probably Etihad or Emirates, maybe EVA.
  3. What do find to be the best credit card/ points to go for?
  4. The prices are still very good from UK - frequent sales, and the ability to fly over Russia cuts down the flight time. The cabin, although older, was much better than I expected it to be. The in flight entertainment is shockingly bad, which is not an issue as I just load up the iPad. The airport in Shanghai that China Eastern flies into (I think there are a couple of airports in Shanghai?) is really dull. Often when the flight arrives (early or late) the shops are shut and it is very difficult to restock on water/ snacks for the long leg back to the UK. The security screening on transfer is the worst I have experienced anywhere (no joke). Having done trip a couple of times now, I think I will look at alternatives.
  5. Having now been there and back again from the UK a few times, I have tried a few different routes/ airlines into BKK and Chiang Mai. I have always found SWISS and Austrian pretty decent - not direct but the transfer is easy and efficient. Recently, I have flown China Eastern which has the advantage of being much cheaper than everybody else, but the Shanghai transfer is always pretty shit. Just wondering what others' favourite routes and airlines are - do you always fly direct or do you take the cost saving and add a transfer on route? I am tempted by Ethiad. I have not done the UK-Thailand route but recently went to Sri Lanka with them and it was very good.
  6. I always found that the groceries in that supermarket were on the pricey side, I am surprised the boys shop there - or is it the convenience factor of always open and close?
  7. Yes, my last stop before the trip to the airport and flight home 😪
  8. I am in Chiang Mai at the moment and felt the building shake whilst in my 7th floor apartment. There doesn't appear to be any damage here but the earthquake was felt by all. Some reports from others in the building say they had bits of ceiling fall in, and my bathroom sprung a leak in the bathroom ceiling but other than that, it seems as if Chiang Mai has not suffered much. It was a very scary few minutes whilst the building shook. It is quite an old building so you are never sure how it is going to cope. I left Bangkok just two days ago. The footage from there and reports from Myanmar are terrible.
  9. Anybody know anything about shipping items back to the UK from Bangkok? I have seen a picture I would like to ship back. It is framed and I can't take it out of the frame so will need to ship it as is. Do shipping firms like DHL have packing materials in their shops? Any recommendations?
  10. What's the deal with safe fucking in massage places? Do they have condoms and lube?
  11. Thanks @Daniel. Where would you recommend for a fairly relaxed place on the south coast but also has a bit of life? Restaurants and bars, good accommodation options? A good place for boys on grindr would also be good!!
  12. Thank you so much for your responses. Is this true country-wide, or more particularly central and south? Or is it very much concentrated around Colombo?
  13. Do you approach them on Grindr or just outright ask them in person? I am thinking of changing my travel plans...... 6,000 SLR for short time or long time?
  14. I'm thinking of going in November. Anyone know if you can find equivalent to Thai money boys? Be interested in long times, maybe few days.
  15. I really liked the rooms. I was in the FuramaXclusive before in one of the rooms that @vinapu described - pretty much an apartment. Siam Heritage rooms not nearly that size but very appointed and I really enjoyed it there. Would definitely stay there again. I stayed at the Raya before and liked that as well but would chose Siam over it. Probably cheaper as well as Raya seems very expensive recently.
  16. Email I received - Dear Sir, Thank you for your email, Regarding to the Hotel’s Visitor Policy; - In case the customer accompany with the visitor to hotel the hotel will not charge any visitor chagre. - But in case the customer call the visitor come to hotel alone and ask hotel's staff open main door, we have to charge 900THB,
  17. They have changed the reception lay out (so I am told). The reception is what was in the cafe at the front. The entrance to the lifts is towed the back and had separate key card entry. When I wrote to them I was told that as long as they didn't have to open the door then visitors were ok. If they had to let people in you had to pay. I will see if I can find the email and post it here.
  18. I stayed at the Siam Heritage in an Executive Room last May. I really liked it. Also close to Patpong. I confirmed with hotel before going that visitors are ok.
  19. I too would like to know about legit massage places. Are there any telltale signs that indicate whether a place is good for therapeutic massages?
  20. Definitely checking out Winner Boys when I am in town. Presumably, boys are happy to travel (with me) back to Jomtien Complex? What are the drink prices like?
  21. I asked about their joiner policy and had this back from the The Siam Heritage Hotel. I remember reading that there was some uncertainty if this hotel allowed joiners - "Dear Sir, Thank you for your email, Regarding to the Hotel’s Visitor Policy; - In case the customer accompany with the visitor to hotel the hotel will not charge any visitor chagre - But in case the customer call the visitor come to hotel alone and ask hotel's staff open main door, we have to charge 900THB,"
  22. for my trip later in the year I am thinking of booking the first week but then seeing where I end up. I have not done this before, I usually like to have a bit of a plan and book hotels in advance. What are your experiences of booking in advance or just rocking up and sourcing a hotel on the day (or the day before)? Do you find there is a difference in rates that you will pay - can you get a good deal as they try to fill rooms or is it better to secure better rates in advance?

    Hua Hin

Planning a trip for later in the year when I can get some funds together. I am thinking about spending some time in Hua Hin. Does anybody have any recommendations or thoughts on the place? Is there a scene/ any boys? What are the apps like etc etc.
  24. What is the Tawan S+M experience? Does it still happen?
