Why do both those locutions sound more than a little dirty?

I think we are all interesting, and interested in a lot of different experiences, and in the very different & differentiated individuals we encounter, and that this notion of sexual ‘orientation’ as an absolute categorization is pretty primitive and not at all descriptive of how we actually live and explore and experience.

Certainly in prosperous & job-rich America it is self-chosen.
