Those of us who know Patti are aware that the ego thing is in public only. For her friends, she is as kind and courteous and caring as you could wish for. I thought her costumes were a little odd, but I didn't care as I don't have much knowledge of what was considered glamorous in late 40's Hollywood. My experience there was limited to 2+ years some 40 years ago. There were so many gay men who wanted to be connected to Hollywood. Pompous, curt, ignorant fellows who thought that if they were sucking the dick of some minor honcho it made them well-connected. And, of course, any popular commercial movie or theater was to be looked down upon. I guess it makes them feel superior. It doesn't cost me anything. Good thing, too, since I still run into guys like that.

If I had been in Vietnam during the war, I sure hope I would have known what year it was. But I hear that drugs were common as the Commies knew how to weaken the soldiers. So maybe the "fog of war" would have prevented me from knowing what day it was!

Of course you did, honey. Of course you did. The burden you have...

I loved the series. I thought the sets and costumes are great. Who would be so petty as to focus on whether Patti Lupone has gained weight when she is acting her heart out? That gas station was played quite well. Ryan Murphy is trying to show us what Hollywood could have been, and I, along with millions of others, am along for the ride. If I could have seen positive gay role models when I was young it would have changed my life. There can be no doubt about that. Now Jim Parsons as the nasty agent was not the role I would have preferred, but his character, a self-loathing, pompous closet queer who criticizes everything as not good enough for him, well, we have to live with that even today. So if you are a normal red-blooded homosexual without pretensions of being a New York assistant on some minor film, you will find a lot to enjoy here. If you want something to make your skin crawl, focus on the disdain that the real Hollywood had for women, people of color, and gays. Then enjoy this alternate look and come tell us about it.

HUNKY HEROS These three Marines helped restrain an unruly passenger on a flight from Japan to Dallas. I know that I would have listened to them. https://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/ny-three-marines-restrain-disruptive-passenger-japan-flight-20200506-nenvr6g6y5euvm6e7zwtc7jce4-story.html

Scratch what I wrote first in this post..I think I see your point. You posted about white people shooting innocent black people. I added that many of them are cops, but you see that as a dilution of your point. Your emphasis is on white and I didn't stick with that. Well, hell's bells! Threads often take different tracks than the OP would wish for. But, in this case, it was not my intent to dilute your point, so, if I could, I would not have responded as I did.

There are far too many cases of young black men being killed literally for nothing. White privilege often protects the offenders, who are often cops. In New York a man was badly beaten for watching the cops harass black men who did not social distance. I was ashamed to see the cop who did it wearing a Yankee hat! Since he is Latino, it is not white privilege, but cop privilege.

THE CORONAGAYS! A porn star I never heard of, Ian Frost, help a big party with dancing boys rubbing up against the coronavirus (if present!) Not a smart thing to do. And it's on video! Gays aren't looking too good here, thus the "coronagays title." https://nypost.com/2020/05/06/gay-porn-star-slammed-for-allegedly-partying-during-lockdown/ The video is part of the linked article.

While I am on the Washington Blade page, I see another good story:Dr. Anthony Fauci has commended gays who fought the AIDS epidemic: https://www.washingtonblade.com/2020/04/07/fauci-gay-people-lifted-stigma-with-incredible-courage-in-hiv-aids-epidemic/

THE SHAMPOO CHALLENGE Boyculture.com has a thread on something that only quarantine boredom justifies: balancing a bottle of shampoo on your erection! http://gay.fleshbot.com/8523517/guys-balancing-shampoo-bottles-on-their-erections-for-shampoobottlechallenge For example:

I also really like the 1940's look of Hollywood.

Trump: “They always said Lincoln. Nobody got treated worse than Lincoln. I believe I am treated worse.” Lincoln was assassinated, but that’s nothing compared to Trump having to answer questions from reporters. (copied from @keithboykin)

Is this as close as Donald Trump will ever get to a Washington monument for himself? The gall of it all.

I have only seen the first two episodes, but they are very enjoyable. The husband and I are both taken with David Corenswet, not realizing at first that he was also on The Politician!

Streaming suggestions thread...
Lucky replied to JKane's topic in Theater, Movies, Art and Literature
It's your show. You will note that I made a "suggestion," nothing more. I found it hard to live with my own suggestion because I wanted to promote Hollywood on Netflix with its own thread. It might get lost in a long list. -
Man's humanity to man displayed in a prison in El Salvador. Many, if not most, if not all, of the prisoners are members of the notorious MS-13 gang known for tattoos and cruelty. What to do with them? Photo from Washington Post

The photo is of armed protesters standing in the Michigan statehouse, right outside the door to the governor's office. How was that allowed to happen?
