  1. Very nice, please feel free to flood the forum with more about these hotties! I feel like I missed out on the 'golden days' of Brazil, with it now being too expensive and a pain in the arse to get to. But info on getting in on the ground floor of a similar trend in Columbia is very interesting!
  2. Having once been in the same room with Ms. Barr I must respectfully suggest that someone KILL IT WITH FIRE! I've rarely heard a more annoying voice in my life and never seen reason to believe she has anything of import to say, combine those two things and give it a platform? Oh hell no!
  3. I'm glad for anything that stretches out the Republican bloodletting, but am surprised it's Santorum! When your base is proudly anti-intellectual you get what you deserve, I guess!
  4. Thanks for doing the math for us Lucky. The mark of the beast! Guess I won't be hitting 2190... but hopefully 2 entries in the raffle will count for something, and maybe if all the 2190 post awards aren't taken they could become secondary raffle prizes...?
  5. So far I've been watching Alcatraz and The Finder, but neither are doing that much for me. Very ho-hum. Alcatraz has the feel of the typical Lost wannabe that will ask question after question but never provide any satisfying answers. The Finder is cutesy but the setup and reasons for stuff are very contrived. Anybody disagree on these or everybody else not bothering? I've already given up on Grimm and that other fairytale one. At the moment I can't think of any new mid-season show that's compelling, this year.

    Today's funny

It does have 4 wheels pushed out as far as possible to the corners, so it should be more stable than some of the 3-wheelers I've seen on Top Gear at least. Hilarious caption though!
  7. I do worry about the 9th circuit getting overturned more because it's the 9th than legal reasons. I'm thinking the best outcome would be for the Supremes to refuse to hear it...

Perhaps it's the statue Newt Gingrich has already commissioned to commemorate his second term as president?
  9. So many people think "I can't shop there for just myself or 2 people, can't buy everything in bulk like that" but they're WRONG. Yes, there are some things almost no sane person (without a mansion) buys at Costco, such as their massive packages of paper towels or toilet paper. But so many other things are a great deal and you know you'll use it up fairly quickly... 20+ packs of 1-liter water bottles for about $5. Great fresh meat, often comes pre-subdivided so it's easy to separate and freeze what you aren't going to use right away. Good selection of media and electronics--which are backed with by far the best return policy you'll find anywhere, and if you need glasses do yourself a favor and save several hundred dollars at Costco Optical! It's also about when you shop, if you go on a weekend or weeknight it can be a zoo. But if you can go during the days it's usually very reasonable. And is a great place to have a cheap lunch, between the grazing (samples) and the food court! The gas is open before and after the store too.
  10. I agree 100%! Love Costco. And their return policy is so generous. I've bought some clothes at Costco with good results, have had very bad luck at big and tall, because in every fucking Casual Male I try I can find big or big and tall, but never just mostly tall which is kinda what I need now... but a lot of average sizes are getting longer as the average population height increases... Just started with Costco Amex and all the executive/business membership stuff a couple months ago, so far so good. I've found that different Costcos can sometimes have vastly different stuff, places like Van Nuys and the shiny new Pacoima store have a larger selection of staples and economy-type stuff, for example. I've also heard they're good to work for. Certainly treat their employees better than the Walton empire, which is why Costco and Sam's Club ARE NOT THE SAME.
  11. Liked this one!
  12. Damn it, beat me to it Expat! But that is a great response by Ellen!
  13. Hahahaha, like many others, I'm still waiting for the party to *start* on Google+. But there's some interesting content, esp. for the geeky--and a lot less of the BS one apparently puts up with on Facebook.
  14. Yeah, how the fuck do they go from Ann Richards to THAT?!
  15. I didn't pay much attention to the show, but is anyone else getting tired of that LMFAO song, or the national anthem of West Hollywood, as I think of it?
  16. About time, but I shudder to think who they'll inflict on the nation NEXT!
  17. Is Ryan Gosling cuter than a puppy?
  18. So you despise figs? They say the leading cause of atheism is actually reading the bible for yourself... Learning more about the bible than the vast majority of Christians has certainly re-enforced my beliefs, but the crux of my rejection came upon me in middle school during a discussion (--led by a devout Christian and good teacher) of ancient gods, how they were used to explain things mankind did not yet know, and is best summarized: "When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours." Of course I believe in some of the teachings/goals. But do I believe that we have to grovel for favor to a magical being in the sky who created us in his image then punished us for being imperfect? No. Do I believe that some fairytale in a book demonstrably mistranslated, edited and embellished over time is required for people to act in a moral or just way? Hell no and I think that is unbelievably insulting! In fact that book can be shown to be a catalyst for immeasurable human suffering, in my lifetime slightly different viewpoints on it have had Christians killing other Christians (Northern Ireland). And it's been simultaneously used as justification for the actions of: Martin Luther King Jr and the KKK, abolitionists and slaveholders, Fred Phelps and sane people. But what I do believe in, most strongly, is the US Constitution and it's establishment clause (among others). And that any move towards public secularism is a net gain for society.
  19. Didn't see this one yesterday, or the barking dogs... only other memorable one I saw was the Doritos bribe one. Overall, very meh, made more so by stupidly leaking almost all of them. They're just fucking commercials, the twits are luck we care enough to watch them ONCE!
  20. Never occurred to me before these are celebrations of a monarch's parent's death! British are weird...
  21. Just watched the first true sequel episodes to the last that Whitfield stared in. Didn't really bother with the prequels... Spartacus: Vengeance... actor that replaced Whitfield is maybe a little fairer of face but less defined of body. Acting, well, do you like gladiator movies, Billy? Not sure if I'll bother to continue to watch it, but the second "Surprise! guess who's still alive..." has me slightly intrigued. Lucy Lawless is maybe a slightly less pale shadow of Polly Walker (in Rome) this season, but still nowhere near. Plenty of room to grow, at least.
  22. Congrats to Oz, TY and and everybody who made this place possible!
  23. If Ron Paul can't come close in Nevada he needs to sit down and shut up! It's an electorate made for him and his pathetic showing kinda justifies the media ignoring him. Not that I wouldn't welcome him to run as a third party and split the Repub. vote ala Perot!
  24. Now, now, they also get involved in cases where they might be able to steal the vote without anybody knowing, especially if it also helps a big-business benefactor! But a general theme of "don't let them darkies vote" does pervade, I'll grant. How long 'till some some wingnut adds drug testing to mandatory ID requirements?
  25. Still a repudiation of what heretofore would be business-as-usual.
