In case some posters here, after reading some recent posts about Latin American prison sex trips, might be thinking, “gee, maybe someone can set up a visit to a Brazilian prison so I can get a good romp!” You might want to rethink that idea! (Note: it’s really not a good idea in any LATAM jail / prison, anyway — in case you don’t get sarcasm). https://www.cbsnews.com/news/brazil-prison-riot-dozens-dead-and-16-decapitated-alatmira-prison-para-state-2019-07-30/?ftag=CNM-00-10aag7e

NON-SEXUAL FUN in Rio
SolaceSoul replied to BlkSuperman's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
SmartFit is a nice commercial gym (with great equipment and nice eye candy). But if you want a free gym / workout experience overlooking the beach / ocean (with just as much eye candy potential), simply go to the outdoor gym at Arpoador (edge of Copacabana and Ipanema, near Posto 7). I call it “The Flintstones Gym” because all of the weights are made of concrete. There are also a free beach gym at Posto 12 in Leblon -
NON-SEXUAL FUN in Rio

Gringo Cafe in Ipanema is great! It was right down the street from my last few apartments. It is one of the few places in Rio that actually gets American comfort food right. The TV is always on an American station. And the piped-in 80s music is the best! It’s not a common place for brasileiros, however. You’ll find many expats eating there, plus foreigners who have visited or lived in USA and a handful of tourists. I often try to take my favorite Brazilian boyfriends there to give them a taste of well-prepared American comfort food (which, believe it or not, many have never before experienced). But I try not to go there too much, because when I travel abroad, I aim to immerse myself in their culture. But yes, introducing Brazilians to (a good part of) American culture can be exhilarating as well! -
This isn’t foolproof. When I have booked through AirBnB recently in Ipanema and Copa near Ipanema Beach, I encountered quite a few listings that restricted visitors. Of course, I did not stay at any of those places! The best advice is to, before booking: (1) review the house rules of each rental, and (2) contact the host to confirm the visitor policy. My personal policy is that if the visitor policy is not liberal enough for me, I won’t book.

Mondays at 202 are equal to or better than Wednesdays, and it’s been that way for a few years. It may have been that when Meio Mundo was open, the clients that liked less muscular guys (boy next door types, and twinks) would go there on Mondays instead. 202 has for years gotten the 117 crowd that day (since 117 is closed on Mondays), and has had some spill over with both garotos and clients. I suppose it’s up for debate if Monday or Wednesday is better at 202. Both nights offer free rooms. It will certainly be interesting to see if the new Lions Club can change — or add to — this weekly schedule.

Bluto. I’d hit that! That fug toothpick Olive Oyl had a voice that could remove chrome from a bumper. -

As usual, you need to work on your deductional reasoning abilities, Gabby. I wouldn’t be caught dead vacationing in, much less living in, Florida. I’m not one of those New York snowbirds. -

No need to be so coy and shy, Rioblather. By “seasoned readers”, you’re only referring to yourself and Lucky. You two are the only sensitive hit dogs that holler whenever the subject of garotos being attracted to the money not the man holding it pops up. -

And as a side note, how TF did that fug greasy bag of bones Olive Oyl always get two men to physically fight for her affection? Popeye AND Brutus / Bluto? That purse must’ve had some serious gold coins. -
Big problem in Honduras as well. If you’re connected, there are plenty of men to fuck or who will get fucked — but too many danger and too much murder.

Oh, dear. It wasn’t meant as an attack on you, but it sure says a lot that you took it that way. Enjoy your marriage. -
RISQUE RIO RENDEVOUS

This is very common and should be nothing to be alarmed about. In most cases, the garotos are not as upset about clients seeing other garotos in the sauna as they would have you think. They know it’s part of the routine — and in most cases, are hoping that their passionate show of displeasure or jealousy will convince a client to believe they are into them far more than they really are, and they will eventually get back the business. It’s part of the sell. No one’s going to fight over you like some scene out of an old Popeye cartoon. -

If you take the steps that you laid out, and only bring one guest back to your place at a time, you should be fine. I say “should” because nothing is foolproof. On your first trip, as a pasty white gringo, even with a little Spanish on your tongue, you’re probably much safer at one of the hotels that is accustomed to sex tourists in the Colonial Zone (the Romas, Discovery, etc.) than an apartment. These hotels also take copies of or keep the cedulas while the visitor is in the room. In most cases, as an added safety precaution, you can tell the front desk not to return the ID until you come down with the visitor for him to retrieve it. -

This is probably a universally safe approach to taking tricks back to your hotel room / apartment. -
DICK-stractions in Santo Domingo

Oh well, I tried. As my late grandmother always said, “advice is what people hear when they end up doing what they want to do, anyway”. Enjoy continuing your life of misery. -

Usual blathering pomposity aside, your reasoning here seems ridiculous to me. If a provider doesn’t bring you something you like, tell him so and be specific. In most cases, he will try harder to bring someone who meets your needs (unless your needs are unreasonable). And if he cannot find what you like, find another service provider. My first procurer in the DR was Freddy, more than a few years back. Nice enough guy for a first-time visitor on a short trip. His first few introductions were on point for me. However, after a while, for me, he ran out of steam. I soon determined that what he specializes in just ain’t my type. And that’s OK. He’d be great for plenty of others — he seems to be an endless source of young twinkle types. But after a few initial intros to great muscley guys, all he brought me were Twinkletoes, in spite of my direct requests. That was the end of our business dealings. No hard feelings. -

Canadians are generally not known for the “qualities” assigned to an Ugly American. The worst a Canuck might do is polite you to death. Or in your case, write in puzzles and bore you to death. And the Québécois get a little salty if you speak English to them, not French, in Québéc. But Canucks when traveling rarely ever seem rude, arrogant, loud, obnoxious, or entitled. -

@Riobard, surely, you’ve heard the term “Ugly American” used in its most current context? It’s more than just an old Brando movie. Unfortunately, I hear the phrase whenever I travel because some Ugly American is Ugly Americaning. ”Ugly American" is a term used to refer to perceptions of loud, arrogant, demeaning, thoughtless, ignorant, and ethnocentric behavior of Americancitizens mainly abroad, but also at home. Although the term is usually associated with or applied to travelers and tourists, it also applies to U.S. corporate businesses in the international arena.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ugly_American_(pejorative) -

Loud, obnoxious, broke and cheap is no way to travel. But it’s very American. -

I can’t speak for others in groups. In my personal example, all of my travel buddies are my long term lifelong friends Stateside. I have known one for 30 years, another for 26, another for 20, another for 9. Two women who I also often travel with, I have known one for 32 years. I often travel solo, but when I do not, the people that I travel with are friend that I have known forever and trust. I don’t just pick up stragglers on the road or message board chatters and decide to do trips abroad. And I don’t do “new friends” very easily. So, I have plenty in common with my travel crew, other than just being African-American or Latin American. Diversity is the least of our concerns when we get together. Salvador — as well as most parts of the African Diaspora — have (or should have) a special connection to African-Americans and anyone of African descent. That is one major reason that you might see many African-Americans traveling there and other places together. -

Hopefully, you’ve considered the obvious: that two very different individuals who are African-American may not think alike, may not look alike, may not have similar backgrounds, values habits or ethics, may not socialize the same way, may not like the same friends, may not like the same kind of sex or romantic partners, and may not even like each other. I would hope that I wouldn’t be judged and stereotyped based on one group of loud, obnoxious, ostentatious but broke black Americans that you see sitting at one 24 hour cafe. Who knows? If you happen to talk to them (or me) in person, you very well may enjoy them... and dislike me — or vice versa. Or maybe like or dislike both. And that should be okay. Everyone doesn’t have to be best buds Good Judy Girlfriends with everyone. -

HA! I would hope they wouldn’t think that. There’s absolutely nothing special about what’s in their Rolodex. Anything hooking up with them is community property trade. -
Merida Mexico July 18th - 30th

Congrats for you are in order. I recently looked into planning on doing this in Brazil, as it had a retirement / pension visa. The monthly income requirements or any kind of annuity or pension were (for me) very low — only $6000R a month! — and the minimum age requirement had been lowered from 60 to 50. And like the one in Mexico, it had perks that you can’t get from a tourist visa — ability to work legally, federal healthcare, permanent residency, come and go as you please and stay as long as you wish, banking options, etc. So, I was planning to do it in a year or so. However, I learned from the Brazilian Consulate that as of Jan. 1, 2018, the Brazilian legislature inexplicably suspended the pension visa.
