In 20 Years half the population will live in eight states
Latbear4blk replied to TotallyOz's topic in The Beer Bar
I am starting to think that a a second civil war is not a crazy idea. Will Conservatives allow a reform of the Constitution and the electoral laws to make the USA representation system more democratic? Would let allow eliminating the electoral college and switch to a direct presidential election? Would they accept those necessary adjustments pacifically? -
Do not say sorry if there is no sorrow!

True. But we must vote anyway. https://ilikepinga.com/2018/10/13/vote-now/

You too, Brutus. Hey, no one forces you to read my blog. Please, stop doing it if it bores you. My reaction, if you read carefully the thread, is not at personal experiences, but at the continues use of anecdotal information to make wild generalizations. And this time I do give up. Tis is really, really boring.

Yawn.

I said before that I was not going to get involved in these arguments anymore, but I always fail to honor my promise. It is pointless. It is like explaining to a racist that he is a racist. This is just xenophobic bull shit, and there is no way you will make them understand. They will always come with the last anecdotal information to make their point. My point is be careful. Always and everywhere.

Ladies and ladies, I just received in the mail my absentee ballot. I filled it, put it in the envelops following instructions, and it is now sitting on a table waiting for me to take it to a mailbox tomorrow. This is the first time I will use my right as an American city. Fuck Trump. Voting is a must. Always. But in the next two elections it is vital that we reject ignorance and authoritarianism. If you did not do it yet, what are you waiting for?

So your point is comparing a huge and diverse country like Brazil to specific USA cities, probably picking the ones that back your position. Specifically what cities of Brazil are you comparing against what cities of the USA? You are just adding to the xenophobic American centered (you can replace "American" for your own adjective if you are adding to the bull shit) paranoia that so often shows up in these forums.

Let's make it simple. If you are scared at Brazil's crime, do not go. More garotos for us. Stay in your safe USA paradise reading statistics about shit hole countries. This bitter comment is not addressed to the OP, who has all my sympathy.

I bought a belt with waterproof pockets. I can keep cash, cards, and phone safe and close to my body. I do not think I need to carry anything else. I can even get into the water with the belt on. Anyway, my hotel will be at the beach. Also, I forgot to comment earlier, I never liked wristwatches and stopped using them more than 10 years ago when cell phones started to give you the time.

I am very sorry for your horrible experience, and happy you are OK. Said that, and I said it sincerely, I think you are just overwhelmed for your bad experience and not thinking straight. You are over reacting. You do not know wether or not you would be dead if you were stabbed, because you were not. If you did, I bet the reaction of everyone and everything would have been different. But I do not know, just like you don't. I know people in Washington DC who have been violently assaulted multiple times. None of them is going around asking everyone to leave the city and never come back. Indeed we have to be careful. In Rio and everywhere else. Thank you for sharing this awful moment, it is a good reminder that we have to be always aware of our surroundings. I honestly hope that you can overcome this traumatic experience, and be able to enjoy Brazil again. I am going in December, and thanks to you, I will avoid going around with a backpack as much as possible. Fortunately, my hotel will be right at the beach in Salvador, not Rio. Hug.

Are your developers still working in the logging in issue, @TotallyOz? I have noticed a new change and a new issue. Until recently, when I clicked in the Forum Home link after logging in, the forum would open in a new tab. That has changed, and now I remain in the same tab where I logged in. This is not the problem, but my time reference. Since I noticed this change, I can log in most times only in my second attempt. After I click on log n the first time, the screen says in "validating". Sometimes it just stays there, sometimes I do get a pop p saying that there was a problem and asking me to reload and try again. When I try the second time, I go in with no problems.

This one is waiting for me in Salvador.

I think you should read my post again. But anyway, I give up. This is a lost battle for me. -

I am not questioning about asking for information. Of course not. You are making it more complicated than it is. The question is whether or not it is safe to hook up in Rio, Mexico, or any other "exotic" (for the American-centered mindset) location. My point is that different cities in any country have different crime rates and related dangers. Many "exotic" shit hole cities are considerable safer than many wonderfully civilized and enlightened American cities. Many are not. It does not matter where you are, you always take the same reasonable precautions. If I casually hook up with a guy in Chelsea, I would not have money or any valuables around. If I go to the gas station in Washington DC, I would not leave the keys inside the car, I would not even leave the car unlock. I do not need a report from any services to tell me that it is not safe to do that. By the way, most of the places I have been in South America are considerable safer than most od the places I have been to in the USA. Of course, I am not White.
