  1. I do not think anyone can tell without knowing better their relationship. Indeed, his manager advise could be inspired by an homophobic attitude, but not necessarily. I think an actor who wants to be great should be versatile and able to play any character with any accent/mannerisms. It is perfectly possible that the advise was strictly professional and focused on improving his skills and chances to get more jobs. Ultimately, working with an accent/mannerisms coach would increase his self awareness and control and would be beneficial for him as an artist.
  2. I bet you I have even read them and my obsessed-with-Brazilian-guys-memory forgot about them. I will check them later. See you in Brazil!
  3. As always, I love your writing @numazu. I do notice you only write about your adventures in Latin countries. Did I miss the reports on your adventures in SE Asia?
  4. So I bought the AirPods. The noise canceling and the sound quality are amazing. The instant interpretation feature sucks. I had to wait for about three seconds until I heard the interpretation of a simple formulaic English greeting as Good afternoon, how are you?
  5. Considering the things I have put in my mouth and the places where I put my mouth in, I do not think yours would be among my concerns.
  6. @unicorn is planning to buy a device specific for translation. I am planning to buy the last iPods not because of this feature but because overall performance. Additionally, they provide direct interpretation. I will buy it probably next week (I arrived to DC this morning), I will let you all know how it feels once I try it.
  7. Damn, I asked @floridarob to stay away and you had to bring that story. I think I need a new identity in this forum.
  8. Parental? Think twice, grandpa.
  9. I have not yet, although I am planning to buy the pods this week once I am in DC. However, I recommend you to research a little bit deeper, I think I read somewhere that because of the UE regulations, this service does not work in Europe. I am not 100% sure of this, and this issue was referring to iPods.
  10. You do not even need to say "old friends" or specify that you would invite them for dinner. Although I used to do that at the beginning, then I cut out those specifications in my messages to the host. What we do with our friends is not their business, as it is not whether or not they are "old". I think what may cause trouble is the staying over night, and not because of moral judgement, but because sometimes their business model is to charge more when more than one person is staying. Keeping a friendly relationship with the building staff is an excellent strategy. The one time I had trouble with a neighbor (@floridarob stay away), the doorman was my ally and that helped me a lot with the host.
  11. I think it is a matter of preferences. I prefer Airbnb, but that is just me. In Brazil, I often have GPs hanging out with me for long hours, being in an hotel room would not offer the variety of activities we can enjoy in a full apartment. About whether or not you can bring visitors, it depends on the hotel and on the Airbnb rules. When I find an airbnb that I want to rent, before confirming the booking I contact the host and explain that my intention is to hang out with friends during the day (I do not like overnights). So far, I've never had an issue. Although I do not prefer overnights, many times the guys asked me to stay. I had an issue with that only in my last time in Rio. I rented an airbnb quite similar to an apart hotel, and they had a strict policy about guests leaving before 10PM. However, in my experience this has been the exception and not the rule.
  12. Rio is the chosen one. Right now, I am struggling with the Argentine bureaucracy to get some docs I need for my Brazilian residency. Then I have to go to the US to do the same. If there are no delays, I should be arriving to Rio by the end of March to look for an apartment to rent.
  13. Hopefully, I will! and not just visiting, I will be living there by then.
  14. LOL. Every time I visited Casa Grande I did it as part of a group, and it was a lot of fun.
  15. It depends on the city. In RJ, 200 Reais (NOT US dollars) is the mode. In saunas, I was paying 150 in the saunas in Rio (100 in Salvador and Recife). The one time I hired from a website (not Rentmen but Gorotodotcom) was about three years ago, and I paid 250 Reais. Everywhere if you know how to navigate the culture. If you do not, I would avoid the streets and focus on saunas primarily and websites secondarily. You will love Point 202, but they also abound at 117. You will find all kind of preferences in this matter.
  16. That is up to each. If you lust after IG models, do not go. If you like malandrinhos, welcome to paradise.
  17. @topper, I am very happy you had this great match. That said, you paid a ridiculously high price EVEN FOR A RENTMEN HIRE. Believe me, you can have a similar experience for much less money. I advise you to peruse the threads about Brazilian GPs in this forum.
  18. 3000? Is that a typo? If you meant 300 and 380, you paid a reasonably high price. If it was a typo, you broke all the records in generosity.

  20. Are you talking about US dollars or BR reais?

  22. If you are in RJ on a weekend, perhaps you want to take a weekend off and visit Salvador. It is a very short flight, and Clube 11 is fantastic on Fridays and, especially, on Saturdays.
  23. I can tell I saw in Meio Mundo several guys I saw in Bangu. This one is an example: He was a disappointment in bed, but I think he matches the physical type you are looking for. There were several like him at Casa Grande. I am in the process to get my CPF. I am in Buenos Aires right now. Next week, I have an appointment with the Brazilian Consulate here, I should walk out with my CPF approved if everything goes well.
  24. And what about my reading?
  25. Welcome to Paradise Pharmacy. I never before needed to deal with a pharmacy beyond cold and back pain issues, and always loved how well the pharmacists served me in those occasions. But in my last time in Brazil I ran out of my T4, atorvastatin, and tadalafil. In Argentina and in the US, in most pharmacies I would need a doctor's note to get any of those. In Brazil. without a doctor's note and without CPF I got everything at a lower price than with insurance in other countries. Not only that. When I asked for my tadalafil, they offered me 3 x 1. By the way, I like your reports. You seem to suffer some exotic form of OD mixed with Cruising ADHD. Very entertaining to read.
