@bobbalino : I messed with a Venezuelan guy in Bogota last year and I had several regulars in Miami. To a small extent I have benefited from the government facilitated diaspora. Though the misery experienced by the Venezuelans without connections who couldn't get a passport to leave the country is terrible and I would not wish that on anybody.

@AdamSmith : According to Salon "Margaret’s dilemma isn’t moral, mind you. There’s never a question of whether Lucy can escape a life of prostitution or even if she wants to. Her turn in the world’s oldest profession is all but inevitable and not uncommon in Georgian-era London, when one in five women made their living as prostitutes." I ran across this 20% figure before in college while doing research or a paper and it seemed too outrageous for me to believe at the time. However, it is now being used as a widely accepted number for London at that time. I find it amazing how far we've come as a society and how quickly we forget where we've come from.

@likeohmygod : I agree with you 100%! You went with a friend who could ac as a local fixer and apparently you were able to leverage their social network and contacts to have a pleasurable stay. However, most guys on this board are not so blessed. I really love Venezuelan guys but, for me the risk is currently unacceptable. I've taken long meandering walks on the streets of Baltimore, Memphis, Chicago, Philadelphia, Mexico City, Medellin, Bogota, Santo Domingo and many other "dangerous" cities. I will hazard that the members of this forum have a heightened "perceived risk tolerance" compared to the average citizen of the industrialized economies. However, Venezuela gives even people like me pause. If you have to go for work you may have no choice but, please make sure that you can get a trusted local fixer to guide you and that what you are being offered is extraordinary. There are lots of gorgeous Colombian and Brazilian guys who are comparable with the universally acknowledged beauties of South America. I take the media reports with a grain of salt but, all my contacts tell me only bad things regarding Venezuela right now. @whall : If you must go please make sure that it is worth it, that you will have a trusted local to guide you and that you write a good sitrep for this board If the media and all my contacts have been blowing smoke and Venezuela is actually some gorgeous guy paradise I want to know!

likeohmygod, if whall is going there for work he can't avoid it. However, if he's going for the rough trade, maybe he just likes it really rough All joking aside, the cute guys of Caracas are not worth the potential risk you will be putting yourself into. I picked up a taste for Venezuelan guys while living in Miami and would love to go and experience them in their natural habitat. Unfortunately, my tourist Spanish will instantly give away the fact that I'm just visiting and I don't know any local fixers to make sure that I understand the lay of the land. Unless you have a serious reason for going I would not hazard this holiday in hell. likeohmygod, did you get a chance to sample the local produce?

That's probably "Parque de calistenia y street workout Spartans Park" at least that's what the google describes it as. I agree, you can people watch some of the finest specimens in CDMX. I never stood around long enough to find out if any of the guys were interested in making any supplemental income, I'm sure that someone could get lucky though.

Bob, that tunnel area gets interesting at night. I've walked all around that area at night and when I was going back to my apartment past midnight the area was full of young street meat who literally catcalled me. I could probably have arranged a hookup right there if I wasn't a bit weary about engaging a street guy and his friends at 1 am in the morning with tourist Spanish. I agree that the final stage of arranging a session with a go-go dancer is much more economical in CDMX than say Miami, Manhattan or any other fully industrialized economy. However, the process you described was maddening! So much hassle for such a short time in a small room. Still, if the final experience was good "all's well that ends well."
-
bobbalino, this arrangement sounds crazy! It is overly expensive for CDMX and unduly complicated to say the least! 100 pesos for a water while not crazy by industrial standards is crazy in CDMX where I once ate an entire meal of 2 Sol beers, a bowl of chicken consume and a taco for 120 pesos including tip. If they are going to charge nearly industrial prices I would expect a more refined experience. What you described was bordering on chaos. I'm just happy that you had a good time though. Remember to try Tom's Leather bar in condesa.

whall, you're really brave! I consider myself an adventurous American and wouldn't dream of vacationing in Venezuela right now. I know the guys are hot, horny and hungry, I also know that the American media likes to exaggerate external dangers to keep the complacent trapped in their industrialized bubble. However, I know several colleagues from Venezuela who have repeatedly poured ice cold water on any suggestion I make regarding visiting their country. I have never had a colleague speak so disparagingly about the conditions in their native country. In fact nearly all my foreign friends always talk up their countries or at least the "developed" parts that are safe for tourist. Even the Cuban expats in Miami say how wonderful Cuba is despite the lack of a proper market economy and being a playground for the Castro family. Venezuela has gotten nothing but negative reviews. Still, if you do go please let us know what the scene is like. I know that the guys are gorgeous but, my backpacking and "roughing it" days are probably behind me. I'm not sure that you can successfully do this kind of trip without a local fixer. Please let us know what transpires!

asdsrfr, I concur! While Mexico lacks the easy accessibility of hot guys found in Brazil, Colombia and the DR the cities are huge and an enterprising papi can always find suitable companionship. CDMX has become my go to quick getaway precisely for that reason. My next city to explore is Guadalajara.
-
Guys, thanks for the info! I've made several trips to CDMX in the last year and was looking for a short fun vacation for Memorial day. I was originally looking at Puerto Rico pero, decided against it for now. I agree with tomcal's assessment of Mexican potential, the great guys are there you just need to look a bit harder or have a good procurement network in place. Mexico has not let me down so far, so I will take a leap of faith and try a new city. I love to experience new (to me) museums, architecture and restaurants while meeting great guys for fun. I'm trying to branch out so I don't become too complacent with the experiences available in just 1 city

I'm wondering if I should travel there as well. The information available online looks promising but, I'm not 100% sold yet.
-
Thanks Tom, it should be common sense but, I've been dealing with airlines for such a long time now that I like to be cautious before I make any assumptions.
-
Msclelovr, their flakeyness is what turned me off. I'm probably a bit weary now when it comes to "the beautiful people" as we should all be. I do my best to remain emotionally detached and enjoy the experience for everything it is in that moment. I have had a great time traveling around the U.S. and Latin America visiting museums, eating in restaurants and meeting a lot of gorgeous guys. I just try to treat the experience as many of them do. It's is fun but expensive hobby yet, I love my lifestyle now and I'm excited by the possibilities of even more opportunities to travel, see new countries and meet great guys! I do have a question regarding the refundable tickets though. Whenever I've had to call and cancel a ticket in the past I've always been told that the ticket could only be transferred to the person's name on the ticket, even the ticket insurance I purchased was useless. Is it different with a refundable ticket?

lol, if only! I like to date and play with models but, I it would take some serious effort to convince me that a model was long term serious relationship material at this stage in the game. I'm more likely to start thinking crazy thoughts about a nice middle class guy who can have an actual conversation with me and will appreciate the restaurants and museums I'll drag him to
-
I've had this happen to me purchasing tickets for a guy I use to see on a weekly basis when I lived in Miami. I learned my lesson really fast, the toys have their own lives and even if you have what appears to be a solid relationship with them make sure that they can be trusted. My guy did apologize and offered to reimburse me the $375 the tickets cost. A lot of guys have spent a lot more and received a lot less in return. If all this cost your friend was the $700 tickets, he probably got off lucky. Unfortunately, I don't think the primary brain has been convinced that the GP does not represent the slice of paradise cake he's been longing for. I can hear Burno Mars' "Locked Out of Heaven" playing now

What a wonderful world that would be

Bob, what you wrote just got my head spinning wit possibilities. Imagine if he had a twin! Even I would pay hard earned Yankee Dollars for that awesome experience

Some of us had very repressive upbringings and want a chance to experience the great sex and love we weren't brave enough to have until we were 45, an ex-wife behind us and professionally established However, many straight guys fall into the same trap. The number of lonely middle income professionals is truly mindboggling! This need for connection and faux intimacy is what keeps Chaturbate and its ilk in business. Yes, this guy is most likely professionally successful unfortunately, leaving the bubble that is the US, and most of the other industrialized economies, has given him a taste of what the real world can provide. This is simply the primacy effect for Toys; which I will admit did rope me in also. I really pray that this guy finds the companionship that he is seeking and it does happen the way he dreams about. However, it rarely happens with Toys as their mentality is usually too geared towards extracting the maximum amount of money possible from each client and they tend to compartmentalize their "work life" and their "real life". If this was some middle class guy he met on the apps I would be more hopeful unfortunately, unless this GP has a heart of gold I don't foresee a "Pretty Woman" outcome. An acceptable, the most likely favorable, outcome would be a kept trophy boy situation. Unfortunately, the distance both geographic and linguistic strongly work against that. If the toy really wants to be someone's "kept boy" I suggest that he learn some basic English and that he does so fast. In this Don Quixote's defense, who wouldn't want an opportunity to fantasize about bringing a guy like this to the US so that he can keep your bed warm at night, give you envy inducing companionship during the day and top it off with great sex virtually on demand. This is one of the prime reasons PLU travel to the tropics, to enjoy the exquisite fruit in quantity and variety unavailable to us in the "vigorous North".

Tom, the libertarian in me totally agrees with you. It's his money and if he wants to "make it rain" as I have seen many do in Miami he is totally free to do so. However, I don't think this is a business decision I think the poor guy may believe that he's in love which means that the toy is in charge and will definitely take him for a hard ride I agree with the consensus here that $350 plus travel, lodging, food, entertainment and shopping (yes, the poor guy will probably end up taking the toy out to buy new swim trunks or something) is outrageous given all that is available in Mexico. However, I think that he has a strong case of the Latin Fever and as long as he has money the toy will continue to give him the interest that he wants. I just pray that he isn't making a terrible mistake though given the communication difficulties and the amount of money that he's spending. Still, he's a grown man and who am I to interfere with consenting adults.

Another thread about overpaying garotos.
Darkseraphim replied to likeohmygod's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Tom, I completely agree with you! The boys do not respect you because of your money! In fact they may start to think you are an easy target if you continually over pay, flash excessive cash and give in to their petty demands! Pay the going rate and even try to negotiate down in my opinion. Some of the middle class boys on the apps will appreciate gifts, dinners and the whole "boyfriend experience". Unfortunately, most of the toys will not, most are just gay for pay and if you continue to make yourself appear weak and an easy target you may end up in a very bad situation. Not to mention you ruin the market, when barely passable 6 guys are asking for $100 USD in the DR you know something is extremely wrong. You are already giving these boys 1-2 days worth of work for giving their bodies to you for an hour spending any more will just result in diminishing returns. -

Congratulations Tom! I'm standing by for reports of beautiful brown boys frolicking by your pool. We should all aspire for our own gay boy mansion -
Mexico a unexpected visit
Darkseraphim replied to Tomcal's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
Tom, so you are getting a "curated experience" I love Latin guys and Mexico is very convenient however, to get the type of guys I like I have to dig a bit harder. So when you were describing literally a dozen gorgeous guys in one place I was shocked. However, it makes perfect sense now. Your new friends have connections and access to high quality guys through the varying modeling agencies in the area. From what I've seen in the states the legitimate modeling agencies don't have to do anything but gather a bunch of gorgeous guys and gals in one place. As you describe it, some, but by no means all, will be interested in making some extra money as most models hardly make anything in terms of cash. Tom, I see what your'e planning you're going to open an agency with a few local partners and enjoy a very pleasant semi-retirement -
Planning my First Latin American Trip
Darkseraphim replied to Anthonyvan's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
That's always the way. Even the middle class boys occasionally ask me for rent money Yeah, it's hard to tell them no especially if they were really nice to you and you want to spend more time with them on your next trip. However, keep in mind that you are hundreds if not thousands of miles away and the boys no that. I don't blame them for trying but, a lot of their stories are just that stories. Please keep your wits about you and though it will hurt you will have to cut them off. There are plenty of boys who want to accompany you. Now if you're falling for the guy, I'll pray for you because there will probably be no end to his requests and the "emergencies" will keep on occurring. I've had to simply block a few boys that I really liked for being too persistent. -

Mexico a unexpected visit

Tom, I'm very happy for you! When I'm back in the office I'm just counting the days until I can escape to Latin America. I feel as though I'm in a straight jacket when back in the States. However, if I never traveled, I would never know what I was missing out on. You are definitely living the dream! How are the flights to the rest of Latin America, are they as reasonable as I imagine?
