  1. I have not read any of Holleran, but have read Edmund White. One of his includes an account of the Stonewall riots. Interesting!
  2. Was a unanimous winner, though I'm curious why that would be known. I read Alan Hollinghurst's The Thin Line of Beauty which won. Were there other gay winners?
  3. Is this going to be their next Benghazi or their next Birther conspiracy? Fucking Republicans. Seriously. ....and now, something funny.
  4. I learned about Douglas Stuart last September when I read a short fiction in The New Yorker. a good read called The Englishman. Yesterday Douglas Stuart won The Man Booker Prize 2020 for his first novel, Shuggie Bain. The Brits and much of the world have come a long way. https://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-54976523
  5. IMO, a winner. DASH & LILY, on Netflix. Plenty of positive buzz on the Internet. A good choice after binging Queen's Gambit.
  6. Augustus is an example of why I quit that forum. He cites as fact widespread voter fraud in NV, yet does not cite a news source. False claims about the election are supposed to be removed, yet Daddy does nothing, while he punishes other members, usually on the Blue side of the arguments. I don't have time for Daddy's inconsistent and often questionable standards.
  7. Watched through epi 3 of the Good Lord Bird. There is a lot I love about it. Tomorrow night, epi 4.
  8. Of the things I miss during the pandemic, one thing that's crossed my mind more than once is when will I attend a Rufus Wainwright concert again. He has concert dates set for next summer and fall in Europe, but nothing in the States. I look forward to COVID free times! He will perform tomorrow night on Austin City Limits taped last month. In the meantime here is an oldie. Tomorrow's set list is from his latest album plus an encore of an old fave.
  9. What a great film! Being a fan of President Obama, I loved this movie even more. WH photographer Pete Souza's film is a documentary of Obama and of being the photographer for Obama as well as for Reagan. The times what they are, I post this under Politics. Yes, it does cast shade on what came after, but that is just one piece of a comprehensive look at the times of Pete Souza and of the Obama's.
  10. The man is risen like Christ!
  11. SNL found a sub this week after the scheduled musical guest was canceled. Jack White is being hailed tonight as one of the best performances in a long while. For his 2nd number, he played on an Eddie Van Halen guitar.
  12. ....more on Cruz. (a little Saturday night humor)
  13. Just watched The Good Lord Bird epi 1 on Showtime. Ethan Hawke is amazing. Perhaps an emmy or two.
  14. I like that idea. So I guess I could say I threw away an old pair last month. A weird coincidence, my favorite poster over there also decided to quit about the same time I did. I know a lot of guys go back, but not sure if I ever will.
  15. During tonight's VP debate, with questions about COVID and about reacting to Trump refusing to leave office, the thought crossed my mind how the inauguration itself will most likely be scaled down to almost nothing if the Dems do win. As far as Biden's team moving in, the idea of a hand off from the Trump mask deniers seems daunting to me. The money that would have spent on the inauguration balls might need to go towards ridding the White House of the COVID virus. But any hand off meetings strike me as risky. I would not trust any of Trump's quislings.
  16. I worry the White House is one big germ box, how many are at risk, people that work there for their career, before and hopefully after the Trump crowd clears out. How many of them are getting sick? And whoever does Trump hair and makeup: What a risky job!
  17. The story sort of begins and ends with Michael. I loved the entire cast. Not a Ryan Murphy fan so was pleasantly surprised by the movie.
  18. Kim Deal and sis.
  19. Here is a video of Senator Klobuchar getting all up in Ted Cruz's shorts, that people are voting in droves now, knowing what the Republicans are trying to pull with this nomination. A powerful message getting a lot of attention. A great Minnesotan!!
  20. The President's doctors are already backpedaling.
