If I had a choice between Morocco and Tunisia i'd go with Tunisia when it comes to sex with locals.  I had no problems with the three guys I hooked up with in Tunis (unlike Morocco as I described in my post).  The men are every bit as hot and horny as in Morocco, but I found at least online you are more likely to find just everyday guys looking to hook up in Tunis and less hustling than in Morocco.  Nicely equipped too! 

Sorry for being so judgmental in the topic, but it is how I feel about the escort situation here in Morocco. 
 
Escorts are everywhere and I have nothing against them. In fact, I love them, as long as they are honest about what they do, have a sense of service and be more or less fair. They are not here!
 
The economy in Moroco is bad, so bad that few young guys have a real job and those who do make barely their rent. With the typical Arab horniness and their welcoming nature on one side, and the affluent tourists from Europe and Middle east, it could have developed a healthy and booming escort market. But unfortunately, it hasn't the been the case. The main problem is the lacking of work ethic in the whole region. 
 
I can't help comparing the situation to Cuba. Moroccans are as hot as Cubans, equally open to homosexual sex, but far less educated and ethical. Something good which came out of the communist years of Cuba is people understand in order to get something, they need to deliver something in return. Here in Morocco, they just grab and run. 
 
Which made things worse is the illegal immigration from the neighboring black African countries. Desperate situations made lots of them rotten.
 
Several points can illustrate the issue here:
 
First, Morocco is a muslim country. The escorts here somehow made this their avantage. Most of them are miserable and have nothing to loose, so they are not afraid of making a scene, especially the foreign black guys from Mali, Niger, etc. 
I met a young Moroccan cardiological doctor in Marrakech, who told me that two weeks earlier, he was obliged to pay 2000 dh (200 euros) to a disguised black escort when he refused to leave.
 
Second, they never say they are escorts. Actually most of them deny that when you ask. You really need to be vigilant and dig really hard to get the truth. They have ambiguous way of answering your questions, such as:
- I'm not escort. (But I still want some money for cab, and I paid 100 times more than normal because I was in such a hurry to get to you)
- I just want to have fun. (But you have to pay)
- Dont be silly, not everyone's escort. (But I am)
...
When you try to let them answer just 'yes' or 'no' to a very specific question such as 'Are you going to ask me for money?', they would become silent, maybe for a day. Then they will come back talking to you as nothing had happened, until you ask them specifically again.
 
Third, they lie about everything, they send fake photos, and they don't perform sexually. Again, if I take some examples of how they answer your questions: 
- They are my photos. (But they are not of me, but of a 'friend')
- I'm always hard. (As hard as I can get, while you keep on sucking me)
- My cock measures 25 cm. (Seriously you believe that? How fool)
 
Just to resume, the escort market here is sick and disgusting. And it spoils the normal fun market, too. When people don't have any ethical bottom line, anything can happen. I personally would not recommend Morocco to those who want to meet local boys for fun. 

I am now over 70 and overweight. The only people who might possibly want to have 'free' sex with me look like me and I am just not interested in that.
So if I want a cute 20 year old who is willing, perhaps even keen, to have sex with me (top or bottom) these days, I am going to have to pay them. And that is a price I am happy to pay, even if it is only for a few weeks a year when I am back in the warmth of Thailand where the opportunities can seem limitless !

Apartment was nice enough, $20 per night, I only booked for 1 night, although I'm planning to stay in Hurghada 2 weeks. I ran in and out of the apartment several times, bought bottle of gin, then some other stuff, maybe in and out 3 times since arrived. Never saw anyone in the building, my apartment on 4th floor.
Now things get interesting. Sat next to a local guy at Sheraton Rd bench, there are several benches, from McDonald's down the street, many local guys are sitting around, sitting is free and they always ask for a cigarette. I bought a pack just to share, it's a good way to start conversation.
So in about 15 minutes I spoke to a guy, handsome enough, maybe 25, I said I have a private place, we walked to my building. And then suddenly there is a stranger, just a guy, a local, asking my guest something in Arabic, loud tone, shouting almost, looking almost angry. I had no clue who this guy is, but my guest spoke to him in Arabic, and told me in English that guest is not allowed in a building. I called my host, apartment owner in WhatsApp, we had spoken earlier about building location. He told me no guest is allowed. I replied, this is my home, I rented a full apartment from him, and my guest is my friend. NO! No guest allowed. 
So he suggested he knows a quiet place, few minutes taxi ride, we took a taxi, not far, a construction site with no fence, no staff, it was dark by then. But what is a big disappointment is the situation with my so called private apartment. No guests. Just like ever hotel, except nowhere does it state this while you are booking the place. Contrary, booking site says 'private apartment with a private entrance'.
So I'm writing this next morning, I'm checking out, looking at other places in the neighborhood. The whole point of not staying in a hotel is privacy of apartment, without it there are downsides, no security, noise from the street all night. Thinking if I should fuck this host a claim a refund, not sure but seems unfair to misrepresent the booking conditions.

Turned out, he was needed to grab a towel and walk up with me to the third floor.

He needs cigarettes. Normal enough, they never have cigarettes. We walk to corner shop, LM are 100 EGP, $2 for pack of 20. All is good, and then he starts chatting with shop keeper, guy maybe 35-40. I pay with 200 local bill, he needs to give me chance, 100, but he hesitates. I put my hand forward, and he gives me 100. Then my young Grind friend tells me, give him tip, give him 100. Now, this is not normal. I put my 100 in the pocket and slowly walk away, back towards the street corner where we had just met. The guy is not following me, I look back, don't see him, first thought was, he just needed cigarettes and never intended to do anything else. But no, minute later he was running to catch up with me. We stopped at the corner and I asked, how old are you. 20, he says.
Thing is, he looked younger. Arab guys age quickly, 20 yr old can easily look 30. But this guy looked way too young.
I ask ID, just plainly like that, be it rude or not. He doesn't have it, but he has it in his home, lets go in and he will show me. I said no, bring it, because I'm not going to enter a residence with someone who can easily be under 18. Trick is, they lock the door, try to extort money, they declare that they are not of age. Certainly not a pleasant situation, I imagine, it has never happened to me, but there are reports online about this sort of scam. The way out is to sit down and say, ok, call the police. They won't. But there is some chance that they work with police, and if  that's the case you are fucked. Paying your way out can be expensive, I believe.
So I walked away. He started texting furiously, but he never called out in the street, although this street was very quiet. I blocked him.
Now, how does someone like he have a place of his own? At 20. It is highly unusual. Why is his English so good, nearly fluent? Everything about him seemed off. 
It 2pm now and the day has barely started. 
Not sure how to find a private apartment here, will start looking now.

30 years ago it was. A monarchy very European friendly and moderately Islamic.  There were big contrasts between cities like Tetouan or Marrakesh, very traditional looking and with women absolutely and evidently oppressed, next to other cities like Tanger or Casablanca, with a much more European feeling, and even local women dressing as their Westerner sisters.

I did. I visited Marrakesh in 1993, traveling with a friend. We asked to our hotel concierge and he pointed us to a hammam nearby the main market. Sorry I do not remember the details after almost 3 decades. I was very discrete and did nothing "inappropriate". I do not know how the situation is now. Back then there was nothing like a sauna where you can have sex. They probably are. About the concern for the local laws shared by some friends, you are correct. Be super careful in public, but you will be safe in private, specially if your date is in the privacy of your European hotel. 
My experience in Saharian Africa es limited to two weeks in Morocco, 30 years ago. If that experience is transferrable, the secret for your safety and the gate to experience the local culture is hiring one boy to be your local guide. In Spanish, we call them the "espantamoros", something like "scaremores". Not only they keep other hustlers away from you, but also bargain best prices (remember bargaining is the standard) in markets, keep you away from dangerous areas, give you the best possible tips on local life, and provide you any goods you may need, including themselves or of you do not want them, other male or female companions. They work for a vey low daily fee, and may even invite you to their homes to share a meal.
