I was in Chiang Mai ~6months ago.
Adams Apple Bar was good. They had a varied selection of guys when I went; but as with all go-go bars, the guys that are there can change like the tides.
For something more along the lines of fun.. I don't think you can go wrong with RAM bar, it's a fantastic show, and different each night. I found myself going back night after night.
 
However, Chiang Mai has an entirely different vibe to Bangkok. Expect things to be much quieter, and much less choice.
 
Don't forget to spend some time during the day exploring the temples and coffee shops.

Adam's Apple bar and Classic House massage are the must I'd say 

With Thailand's borders effectively closed for the last year or more, I have been (inter alia) exploring Twitter and discovering that there are a number of Boy Massage Spas in Myanmar that have public Twitter pages advertising the 'assets' of their staff. Mostly still pictures, although some 'clips' of training sessions to hone the skills of their new boys.
Now I have never been to one of these spas, and much as I would like to, that seems highly unlikely during the current pandemic yet alone the volatile political situation in Burma. But I though that some of these pictures might be worth sharing. Most were taken by a Twitter site guy named Phoe Thar, who seems to take pictures for a number of these spas.
I will post a token few now and see what the reaction is. Can't promise daily updates and may not be that organised in their presentation, but here goes (almost all the pics have the Spa name and phone number).



 






 
Whereas the BKK spas and massage shops often say whether their boys are tops, bottoms or (the magic) both. Its not clear here, I assume most of them are tops?, in which case I am clearly going to have to get used to spending more time on my back with my knees in the air! Haha.
If anyone has any experience of these places I would love to hear from you.
 

From my experiences at Adams Apple over the years, YES!!

Its distressing to see footage of the flooding north of Chiang Mai - towns like Thaton, Fang, Chiang Rai, Mae Sai - dirty brown water floods places you would never expect to see threatened by water. The beautiful Blue Temple in Chiang Rai surrounded by metre deep water- and sadly there have been fatalities. Chiang Mai itself although rained upon for several days has so far escaped any serious flooding and today has been relatively rain free.
For visitors Chiang Mai old town is  great for walking and exploring - innumerable innovative coffee shops, great street food and restaurants- markets- temples - massage shops
The gay scene is not as it used to be - not as expansive or vibrant but places like Adams Apple,New Circle Club,Orion Bar, Connections Bar, Ram Bar keep the flame burning - all have Facebook sites.
Chiang Mai venues have mainly lads from Myanmar  - the Shan State in particular with ethnic backgrounds of Tai Yai and Lisu. Dark skinned? Well I guess they are compared to Moonlight models - and if they are outside working construction dark as you like.

I suspect @Fred Joos is the owner or in some way connected with Adam's Apple. If that is the case, thank you for updating the information. Adam's Apple was always a great bar, although there was a time when it dipped a little at the same time as it and the downstairs lounge bar were taken over by a new owner probably a dozen or so years ago.
It was the variety of dancers and the helpful staff that made it the best of the few Chiang Mai gogo venues. The nude parade along the catwalk was always popular and the shows were fun, even though the boys were amateurs as performers. Drinks also were very reasonably priced. Hopefully little has changed.

Large number of good looking, friendly Gogo boys there on recent visit. Show started around 10:30. One boy with hardon
and costume followed by lip synching lady boy. Total 4 boys with hardons and 2 ladyboys interspersed during show. Many
boys sit with customers. Bare bones show.

I shall make sure to stop by for an evening during my stay in Chiang Mai next month

Yes, it's true, the gay scene in Chiang Mai was no longer what it used to be before the pandemic, and after the pandemic even more have given up. which is very sad. But more and more “Host Bars” are springing up like mushrooms. These "Host Bars" are open until late in the morning and are actually only frequented by Thais; I have never seen a Falang there myself. Maybe the reason is that I don't really understand the purpose of these venues. You book a boy to sit at your table for an hour (from 250 THB) he then drinks your Wisky and plays with his phone the whole time and doesn't exchange a single word with you, then after an hour it starts all over again.

As @PeterRS .... With the exception of Adam's Apple and a few others, Chiang Mai's gay venues are primarily for the local population.
That's true if you look at the time immediately after Covid, a year has now passed, I can only speak for Adam's Apple Club here: We now have around 50% Thai visitors (from all over the country, mainly Bangkok) and the rest is made up from 25% Asian neighboring countries and 25% Western visitors. The number of western guests is slowly but steadily increasing, I think we can make new statements after Loy Krathong (Festival of Lights) in November.
