Matthew285 got a reaction from vinapu in NYE which place would you pick?I did IconSiam this year and was glad to see it once but no need to do it again. Densly packed and expensive.
Will stay in Pulman G this year and walk up to Soi 4 which I think will be more fun and an easier trip back when done.

Matthew285 got a reaction from tm_nyc in New immigration App - THIMUsed it when I arrived on the 6th June, coming from UK, no problems did not have to show anything at immigration, the link to my passport seemed to work with no issues. I filled in all my details and trip information about a week before and then 3 days before the trip received an email and app notification to complete the health check, generated a bar code and that was that.
It has stored my details ready for next trip so that is an improvement over the web based system.

Matthew285 got a reaction from Mavica in THIM - Thai Immigration AppHas anyone used this on arrival yet? I have completed details for my next trip arriving 6 June and I now just need to complete my health declaration 3 days before travel.
I did not know about this but it popped up on The Thaiger this morning for me so thought I would give it a try.
It looks like it saves your details for future trips which would be an improvement over the web based one.
I will be interested to see how it all works when I land.

Matthew285 got a reaction from Patanawet in Patpong comings and goingsI think their is only one room and it is in Glasgow. AI search result below
The short answer is yes, but for many years, the UK government resisted them. The first official facility only recently opened in Glasgow in early 2025.
Before that, any "injection rooms" were either unofficial, mobile, or part of a different type of medical treatment. Here is the timeline of how they evolved in the UK:
1. The Official Site: Glasgow (2025)
In January 2025, the UK’s first officially sanctioned Safer Drug Consumption Facility (SDCF) opened in Glasgow, Scotland.
Location: Hunter Street Health and Care Centre.
How it works: It allows people to bring their own drugs and use them in a clean, supervised environment with medical staff on hand to prevent overdoses.
The Law: This was only possible after the Lord Advocate (Scotland's top prosecutor) issued a statement saying it would "not be in the public interest" to prosecute people for simple possession within the facility.

Matthew285 got a reaction from vinapu in air travel in the coming monthsI think you are probably right but it comes down to the reason they cancel the flight. An AI query gave the following summary which I think makes sense
"If your airline cancels your flight, ask them for the exact reason in writing. If they cite "fuel shortages," they are likely exempt. If they cite "commercial reasons" or "network optimization," start your claim for the €600."
I think they will look to give notice of cancellation outside the 14 days window to remove any risk to them.

Matthew285 got a reaction from vinapu in air travel in the coming monthsFlying Air France, Birmingham UK to BKK in June on a ticket bought in January, so covered by EU/UK compensation rules. From what I have read this means that they can not add a fuel surcharge and if they cancel the flight with less than 14 days notice from the departure date they have to pay compensation of £520 plus I have the option to request a reroute rather than a refund. Also Air France seem to have increased capacity on routes to Bangkok so I take that as a positive sign my flights should be ok, but as said above if they can not guarantee the return flight they will cancel due to the high costs of having to pay for hotels, food, compensation etc.
So if you fly from Europe / UK you seem to have reasonible protections and rights compared to other parts of the world.

Matthew285 reacted to mima_bk in Gay visitors in Thai hotelsI think Thais have no problem with seeing older farang with a much younger Thai man. They may or may not notice, but i feel they just don't give a fuck. I am little over fifty and my - idk, situationship - is 24, looking 18. If you respect Thai culture and keep showing affection in public to a minimum no Thai will bat an eye. After all he could just be my son.
Sometimes you get strange looks from tourists, but i came to the conclusion long ago to not give a single fuck what strangers say or think about me. It rather makes me smile because it feels like a confidence boost.

Matthew285 got a reaction from GoldMember in Getting ready - gathering up to date recommendationsI would recommend Pulman G have stayed there 26 days this trip. Joiner friendly although you have to buy third breakfast. Rooms are older but comfortable and an easy 10 minute walk to soi 4

Matthew285 got a reaction from bkkmfj2648 in Patpong comings and goingsWill just put this here as it dose not need its own topic.
Jupiter on a Thursday night bar less than half full at 10.30pm show delayed to 10.45pm when bar was about half full. Stayed at about half capacity the entire night. mix about 70/30 men vs women.
20 boys or so tonight.
1st parade in white briefs, 2nd in black briefs and third in long pants only 3 had numbers visible.
I think more nudity than in the past but more regular visitors will need to confirm that.
Biggest effort made through whole night was to ensure that any bottle opened was consumed by the end of the night.
Not sure how many offs occured.
