All boards are suppose to work together to rid the Gay Thailand community of dissent. I am glad you and Gaybutton have a good relationship. That is great. I am happy with that. I did not know that this board was in the outside of the mix and not successful working together. This is news to me and I am glad you bring it up. I do not think that working together prohibits the free flow of comments on a board. If you feel we should give you or him special treatment as you own another board, well, that is just insane. IMHO. As a member, I don't see either of you treated any different than another member. The main difference I see is that you can't control the flow of discussion the way you can on other boards. I don't think that is a bad thing. But, I have read this thread over again since reading your comment and have yet to see how Gaybutton was disrespected in the thread. He got as good as he gave and he is the one that started the giving. In your world, it may be better to let him have his say and then for the admins to jump in and protect any negative comments about him, but to me, that is just weird. He chose to get involved in the discussion. He chose to be aggressive about his stance and he was challenged. Isn't that what a board is suppose to allow and encourage? I have known Gaybutton for many years and I think he knows that when I have a disagreement with him over a post on a message board that it is not personal. Some people just don't understand this. But, adults do not have to agree and just because he owns another board, that does not mean that he deserves preferential treatment here or on your board. IMHO

I see people able to post about issues they want to post about and then a discussion is had. It may not end the way you or someone else wishes, but free and open discussions are important to a forum community IMHO. And, may I ask who piled on who? There seem to be statements that were in support of the original poster and against. And, I didn't see any group pile on anything. But, then again, I may be blind and sometimes need a guide to help me navigate.

Yes, I think we will. I say your site is a business. You said it ain't. We disagree. Isn't that what we both agree to? My own feedback on the maps? Really? Do you really want that? OK. I'll tell you what I think about them. I think maps are a great way to get around. Just last year, I was traveling across the US and I used a Garmin. It helped me get from point A to point B in a superb manner. I find great value in maps.

We will agree to disagree with the definition of a business. Facebook did not make profit for many years and operated at a loss. But, like you, they are not a business either. I admit that I do find it amusing that people that state there is no need for nastiness when directed at themselves are OK to direct it at others. And, I think Gaybutton does a great service to the Gay Thailand community. Probably more than anyone since GayPattayan (I think that name is right) was around. But, for years I have said that there was no need to be nasty to him because he likes his "Iron Fist" and to shut down conversations and discussions. People that don't like it can not participate in his board. I know he is OK with that as he has stated that many times. But, regardless of what he says, his site is a business. It may not be in the money making business but it is a business and one that many rely on. Likewise, Out in Thailand is a business. They try to provide a different service. And, when they get things going well and the site is updated, they also will provide a valuable service to Gay Thailand. They are in the business to make money and thus, they must take their customer base suggestions and do with that as they will. Gay Button's business is not about money but it is about him having a voice in Gay Thailand and in the Gay Pattaya scene. When suggestions are given to him by his customer base, he can take that and do with it as he will. I see no issue or problem with the way either run their business. I think there is room for both and regardless of GayButton's Iron Fist or the lack of updates on Out in Thailand, I still enjoy looking at and reading both sites.

Something on the Internet is inaccurate? Holy Shit. Let me call the New York Times. Maps are hard and difficult to do in Thailand as businesses come and go VERY fast and it is impossible to keep up with the data. Even if someone visits in Dec, things really change by April. So, it means almost having an impossible task. Relying on readers to give input is the best way for them to go. And, if you value their site, you will contribute and give them better info. If you don't give a rats ass about their site then take it and shove it and let them do their thing. If they get good detail and don't use it, that is on them and is bad business. If they take it and make the site better, then it is a valuable commodity for the gay Thailand community. Does anyone need to be nasty to them just because they don't update their maps. Holy Shit. Totally. Totally. Totally. Disagree. Tips are nice and while not expected, I don't think the guys that get them think you are a putz for giving them. I have done the full gambit. I have given tips, shopping trips and paid for entrance fees. All are appreciated. Having run a NYC escort service, I would say that most of the boys were tipped on most calls. IHP, you speak the language and you are there year round and not really a "foreigner" per say. You are a special case. Most of us are not.
