I do the same. I always give a bit extra for taxi. But, I will say. "This is for short time" (agreed upon given) "This is for you to buy present" (tip if given) "This is for taxi" (40 baht in Pattaya and 60-100 baht in BKK) Kiss on check. "thank you so much. Have a nice nights."

The Yellow's will never be happy with a true democracy. They only want a democracy if rich people are the only ones to vote. The Reds will never be happy with all the BS the yellow shirts pull. Lets face it, the removal of the PM last week was silly. I wonder if the only way to bring peace is to let the military seize control? What other choice is there? Is there anything else that will stop the madness?

I was just in Lumphini today and it was still packed with protesters and full of tents. I call it: Lumphini Skidrow.

It's not just any old talent show, it's an institution - an annual event that this year attracted an audience of 180 million. From Sweden to Spain, Portugal to Poland, the show gathers an ever more devoted following each year -- and 180 million people can't all be wrong, can they? What is your passion? What would you do? A hypothetical situation
TotallyOz replied to a topic in The Beer Bar
First, I'd buy the house that the Sultan owned in Vegas that is for sale. The estate is huge. I'd then fill it with twinks and minks and everything in between. -
St. Louis Rams pick Michael Sam in seventh round of NFL draft Watch the video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nW-_fFdkegs The story: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/11/sports/football/michael-sam-picked-by-st-louis-rams-in-nfl-draft.html?hp Over seven rounds of the N.F.L. draft, teams chose more than 200 players, from surefire stars to kickers and all-but-anonymous players from tiny Division II football programs. One player who kept being passed over was Michael Sam, a consensus all-American at Missouri and The Associated Press’s defensive player of the year in the Southeastern Conference, considered college football’s most competitive conference. Sam was also the first publicly gay player waiting to be drafted. Finally, after nearly seven numbing hours of picks on Saturday, the third and final day of the draft, Mike Kensil, the vice president for game operations at the N.F.L., walked to the podium and read Sam’s name. Cheers erupted among the several hundred fans left at Radio City Music Hall. Sam, a defensive end, was the 249th player selected. Only seven players followed. Then the draft was over. Read more from the NYT link above. My favorite quote from the day: Deion Sanders, a former player who is now a television announcer, wrote on Twitter, “Some team needs to Draft Michael Sam and be real the kid can play!”

Federal Police Threaten World Cup Strike
TotallyOz replied to ihpguy's topic in Latin America Men and Destinations
I am a big union guy and I also believe in good pay. But, a strike during the World Cup could be a disaster. Or, no? -
I just hope you are right and I can beat out things here. My mama always told me that I could take the boy out of Bama but never take Bama out of the boy. LOL

Vinapu, I agree with much of what you have to say and do hope to see some new blood. However, in America, the time when any politician could run for office is gone. Only the rich can now afford this or those with great connections and a well-oiled machine. The last election, the candidates spent 1 billion dollars each. Insane. Not many regular Joe's can even get into this kind of situation.

They will just as easily eliminate Thaksin's shadow over Thai politics as America will eliminate the presence of the Bush dynasty. GWB was the worst president ever IMHO. And, he is guilty of war crimes. But, now his brother may be the next Republican nominee for President. So, what does that have to do with GW and his crimes. Nothing. You can't judge a man by his family. Well, you can but to eliminate people strictly based on this is absurd. Thaskin's sister was a good Prime Minister. The Yellow Shirts were relentless and stupid to get her out. I hope they get someone much worse in there to teach them a lesson. The lesson I wish all would be taught is that the few can't undermine democracy for the many. Yes, I do think she should have remained in office just as I think her brother should have. No, I am not a red shirt guy. I just believe in democracy. I was not happy with Bush's first appointment as President of the USA. But, when he was elected the second time, I threw my hands up and said, "Oh well, America gets what it deserves for this shit." Elected leaders are just that. They are who the people want. Unless gross dereliction of duty, they should remain in office until another election. (and no, blow jobs in the Oval office is not gross dereliction of duty). I love Thailand and I hope that those not in power will realize why they are not in power and start to change their policies in order to appeal to the entire country instead of the few. I love America and I hope that those not in power will realize why they are not in power and start to change their policies in order to appeal to the entire country instead of the few. (I just hope they don't do it before 2 Hillary terms)

Well, not much to report. It is business as usual for most of Bangkok. Lumpini Park is closed as it is filled with yellow shirts. The Red Shirts have lost their Prime Minister and they are headed to the city. Not sure what is going to happen to be honest. Most of this is happening in Bangkok so don't let this deter anyone from visiting here. The country is still amazing and this is low season and I have a feeling that the boys will be needing more money to make ends meet so hop on your plane and get over to the Land of Smiles.

Does it matter if the majority vote for a corrupt party or the minority vote for their corrupt party? A court does seem to me to be important to maintain law and order but it seems this court was playing partisan politics. The charge which she was convicted and removed for seems to be a load of horse shit. And, the court made a mockery of itself by allowing this to happen. Neither party is ideal. But, does it matter in a democracy? Should not the majority rule?

IMHO, no, do not cancel your trip. Once you get to Thailand, everything is fine in most areas for now. No one knows what the future holds, but I would not let this deter a trip here.

Today, they closed down Sathorn for hours as they were marching toward Lumpini, I expect. We watched the masses of yellow shirts block traffic and walk through the streets. I don't think they will disperse anytime soon.

Not out of the closet but out of a job. According to the Bangkok Post, the Constitutional Court ruled her ineligible to serve as Prime Minister. What a mess!

Anti-Gay Republican Outed As a Drag Queen Named ‘Miss Mona Sinclair’
TotallyOz replied to AdamSmith's topic in The Beer Bar
LOL I had anyone getting outed but if they are actively pursuing an anti-gay agenda, it is easier for me to deal with. And, a drag queen Republican. Too funny. -
Growing up watching this Club Kids group on Geraldo, it just made me fantasize about living in a city like New York where being freaky could be cool. It was something I longed for growing up in Bama. Now, one of the most notorious of the group is released from prison on May 5th after serving time for murder. Here is a great letter to him: http://worldofwonder.net/dear-michael-alig/ risoner #97A6595 aka Michael Alig is officially released from prison today. In honor of that occasion, I thought I’d jot down a few thoughts about life in the new millennia to pass along to him. Dear Michael, It’s a very different world you’re re-entering into. So much has changed in the 17 years since you last walked among us. For instance: We have talking pictures now! And cronuts! Boys are cuter in the 21st century. And dicks are bigger. These are facts. If you don’t believe me, spend an hour on Tumblr. Another odd thing: EVERYBODY has killer style now. Kids in Peoria are as fabulous as the kids in Williamsburg. It’s all rather dizzying, and kind of depressing. When everybody is fabulous, nobody is. OMG. Burger King changed their french fries and the world has never been the same. Cabs take credit cards now. We don’t use the “t” word anymore. (It’s “trans” now) And don’t even joke about it. The PC police will GET YOU. Also: “cisgender” is a thing now. Sprinkle it liberally into conversations to give yourself a bit of gravitas. Viral videos, blogs, GIFs, memes – there’s a whole world waiting for you online. But the internet is a scary place. Things get weird fast. I suggest dipping your feet in slowly. Gently. Here are a few fun, soothing videos to get you going: David After Dentist, The Prancercize Lady, Charlie Bit Me, Sweet Brown, Two Girls One Cup… Technology develops at light speed now, you don’t want to get left behind. You NEED a smart phone, a computer, a DVR, and a tablet. There are no two ways around this. And be sure to keep up on all the latest upgrades and gadgets. You don’t want to be like me. I still have an iphone 4. Its calculator is an abacus. My Grindr only has Pilgrims in my area who want to hook up. It’s OLD. Read the entire letter at the link above!

Jack Bauer is back to save the world in another season of 24. I feel like I have hit the lottery as this has been one of my favorite shows of all time. When I was in Thailand for years while this show was active, the boyfriend would sit across from me playing his games on his computer and I would watch 24. As soon as he heard the music, he would say: "Jack's going save the world?" I'd say, "Yep. He is going to save the world again today." It was always funny but he also knew how intense I got watching the show. I love the characters on this show and I have truly missed it. Welcome back Jack. The world needs you!

Etihad Airlines takes First Class to a New Level
TotallyOz replied to TotallyOz's topic in The Beer Bar
Private loo and shower I think in the high end ones. -
I love Korean Air's A380 configuration as it has a lounge in the back to stand and stretch and relax. I don't think I'll ever be able to afford Etihad's new first class "apartments" but maybe one day someone will invite me along as a companion? http://edition.cnn.com/2014/05/05/travel/etihad-new-first-class-cabins/index.html?hpt=hp_c4

Story is here: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/05/03/delaware-rape-child-attorney-general/8651517/ Now, I'll be curious to know if the guy knew he was 16. I know legally that doesn't matter. But, what are 16 year olds doing on Grindr? And, I thought odd at the end, they were asking other victims to come forward.

Yes, I can see where you have those blocks. I live in Thailand part of every year and I always expect a she to be a he or vice versa so I am usually tuned into these things. Just today, I was standing in line with a lady and her husband and I chatted them up. The boys then told me that the she was a he. I said, NO WAY. They said. WAY. The great thing about the country was at the same time (movie theater) I saw two lesbians making out, multiple gay couples and numerous Ladydoys. No one even blinked when the lesbians had their tongue down each others throat or when I sashayed in with my two cute Thai boys.

As soon as your mind went from cock to ass, EPIPHANY!
