  1. Curitiba Gay and Gay Friendly Hotels Motter Home Curitiba Hostel | Rua Desembargador Motta, 3574 | 41 3209-5649 | http://www.motterhome.com.br/?lang=en The budget entry on our list, Motter Home is a hostel; if you want a private room, ask for the Ensuite. Otherwise, it's a cheery, colorful place with a welcoming atmosphere, comfortable common areas, an on-site grocery, and free wifi.
  2. Curitiba Gay and Gay Friendly Hotels Hotel Granville | Rua Desembargador Ermelino Leão, 45 | 41 3322-8081 | http://www.hotelgranville.com.br/ The difference between their rundown rooms and the Premium Suite resembles a chasm, so make sure to ask for the latter when booking – it's worth it. It's also worth it for their hot buffet breakfast, 24/7 room service, and of course, free wifi.
  3. Curitiba Gay and Gay Friendly Hotels Hotel Golden Star | Rua Mariano Torres 135 | 41 3888-7888 | http://www.goldenstar.com.br/english/ The Golden Star is close to a cruising park and tons of shopping, which is more or less the best thing about it. It's perfectly functional and a good deal, but there are nicer hotels on the list. However, it does have free wifi, buffet breakfast, and a decent cable TV selection.
  4. Curitiba Gay and Gay Friendly Hotels Mabu Royal Curitiba Hotel | R. Quinze de Novembro, 830 | 41 3219-6000 | http://www.maburoyalcuritibahotel.com/ The Mabu Royal has suites with Hawaiian, Arabian and Indian themes; it's more of a throw pillow here and there rather than full immersion, though. In any case, they are clean and well-designed, and the hotel has valet parking, wifi, a heated pool, and 24/7 room service.
  5. Curitiba Gay and Gay Friendly Hotels Hotel Nikko | Barão do Rio Branco, 546 | 41 2105-1808 | http://www.hotelnikko.com.br/ As its name would suggest, this hotel has a Japanese theme throughout, including on the menu at the on-site Toya Restaurant, which also offers 24/7 room service. There's free wifi, an amazing breakfast spread, and a VERY small indoor pool – more for soaking than swimming laps. Nikko is right in the middle of the gayborhood, too.
  6. 7. Curitiba Gay and Gay Friendly Hotels Ambassador Residence Hotel | Av. Visconde do Rio Branco, 1338 | 41 3219-1800 | http://www.ambassadorhotel.com.br/ While it's not the swankiest hotel on our list, it does get points for mini-kitchens in the room and a clean, bright indoor pool area. It's also close to one of the cruising parks, and within walking distance of almost everything. Wifi and laundry services available.

  9. I have told my morning memory of this morning in the past. But, I was living on 49th Street and 8th Avenue. I have never felt so alone in the city. My apartment was full of boys (I ran a service back then) and the sadness and uncertainty of the future was overflowing. I had to take my phones off the hook that day as they would not stop ringing. We didn't do business for several days afterwards as the boys were all in shock and none of us knew what was going to happen. When I did decide to listen to messages, I had over 200 messages. Many expressed their desire to see a guy and the basic theme was they were not sure what would happen tomorrow and they wanted someone to stay with them all night. Everyone I knew was speculating as to what would come next. We all wanted to leave the city for a few days but none of us did. It is not easy to run New Yorker's out of anything. The one thing I remember from that week was we never heard one car horn blow. It was the silence that frightened us and for those that live in the city, you get use to the sounds of the masses living, driving, fighting, etc and those sounds are carried inside your home to make your sleep sound. The quite of those days made it hard for us to sleep as it sounded like we were living in the woods with no city sounds, no police sirens, no ambulances, nothing. Just the dead silence that made us even more frightened.
  10. I really liked this show and I am glad he won. I liked him and think he will be great as a chef. I was rooting for Chrissy, as she was too much fun. I didn't think she should have been eliminated. I enjoyed the 3 judges this season but I like most of Gordon's shows. He really has a fun idea to bring this to the masses.
  11. I have friends that love Colombia and Bogota and say that this place is the next Brazil for those of us that are into the hooker scene. Take a look at the article on Bogota: http://gaybogota.boytoy.com/ And, take a look at the Gay Bogota Business Listings: http://www.boytoy.com/forums/index.php?/forum/199-gay-bogota/

  13. The worst thing happened today for me. My Vitamix went dead. It may be because we were using a converter for it or it may have just died. But, I'd like to have it checked out. Does anyone know a good electronics repair place in Bangkok?
  14. I was at Siam Paragon last week and the BF needed some running shoes. We went to the store there that has the most shoes and asked for him to try some one. The salesman had zero knowledge of the shoes, which ones were for running and which ones for leisure and he didn't even know how to measure for the right shoe size. I got very frustrated and left and told the BF that I would not buy something like this from someone who knows nothing about the right fit. I asked around a bit and was told to try Super Sports in Silom Complex. We did and had a much better experience. The guy actually knew shoes and how to size one's feet for the right fit. I guess little surprises me in Thailand anymore but I still get very frustrated when someone is selling something they have zero knowledge about!
  15. I was at my gym today and in for a swim. I met a guy that I had heard about in the past but never met. His family got into the Bangkok Real Estate building long ago. He is at least 60 and I really enjoyed chatting with him about Thailand and life. I was surprised when he said he wanted to keep in touch and then said, "Do you have Line ID"? It is the first time someone really surprised me. I thought we would exchange business cards but instead, he wanted my line info. Perhaps it was because we were in the swimming pool and almost naked and he didn't have a business card on him but it did make me realize how much this is used in Thailand. I guess I am really far behind on this trend.
