There was a fascinating article in the NY Times today about a lady who was set up by a guy that raped her. He had a few acquaintances pledge they were robbed by her. She was arrested on 1M bail. After 7 months in jail in NYC, they dropped the charges. The story is here: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/07/26/nyregion/a-revenge-plot-so-intricate-the-prosecutors-were-pawns.html I knew of one guy in NYC who was set up the same way. It took him 4 years to prove his innocence and he was set up for deportation. Things like this happen more than you can imagine.

The Pew Research Center did a study and I was quite surprised by the results. The wealth gap between Whites and Blacks and White and Hispanics is huge. Read a summary at NPR. http://www.npr.org/2011/07/26/138688135/study-shows-racial-wealth-gap-grows-wider?sc=fb&cc=fp

I think Corner Bar may be hard to find in the day time. Anything in Sunee may be hard to find in the day time. You don't have the Neon Lights, the calling out of the doormen or the smell of booze. I appreciate the report Kjun. I am amazed at how Falang Pattaya really is. It keeps moving more and more in that direction. I also love the Alcazar and Tiffany's Shows. Pattaya IMHO has the hottest ladyboys on earth.

California Wow and the Inflation of Prices plus a hard sell
TotallyOz replied to TotallyOz's topic in Gay Thailand
Yes, 2,000 per session is crazy. I remember buying packages of 30 or 40 and it averaged out to 600 or 700 a session which I thought was OK. Currently in Bangkok, the Cascade Club I am paying 1,000 per session and am OK with that. One American Trainer charges 1500 per session and I wish I had used him but I thought 500 more was too much. I was wrong. I have watched him the 3 months I have been here and he is great. He would have been worth the money to me. 300 an hour is a great price and I would do that every day if that were the price. I love personal trainers if only to know I have an appointment and I feel guilty being late. I broke my shoulder a few weeks back and told my trainer I needed to hold off a month till the doctor gave me the go ahead to work out with him again. I was going with him every day at 10am. Needless to say, my workouts then went to 11 and then 2 and then 3. Yesterday, the boys and I hit the gym after 4. Oh, well, some of us need the motivation and for me it is a trainer. And, the cuter the better. In NYC, I was paying 100 up for an hour for a trainer and I picked him out when I went to the gym and watched for a few days and picked the youngest, cutest Latino in the place. Smooth, 6 pack, 19 year old. He was adorable and made workouts fun. I have yet to replace him in my life. -
California Wow and the Inflation of Prices plus a hard sell

I used Tony's for a long time and I like it. They have a big pool (not always the cleanest in the world). They have decent showers, towel service, etc. The work out equipment is nice and they have a lot of it. They don't keep it as updated as they should but I have not seen the new annex. I got a few guys memberships at Tony's as it was cheaper than Cal Wow. They are all happy with Tony's and I think you can use any of their places. One other to think about is the place at the end of 2nd Road. All the way down is a place called Fairtex. Great facility. IMHO, Cal Wow was the right choice for me. But, it all depends on what you want. My friends who do Muay Thai love Fairtex. -
hitoall, how big is your city? Do you think that size is important? (not dick size but the city size in the South?)

I will be back in the USA later this year and I'd love to have a few of these meetings. I have met many great guys from this site and Hooboy's old site.

The sad scene in Norway has really brought many conversations in the public. One long one on here. Luckily, there were heroes that day. Two were lesbian ladies who with their boat went to the island and loaded up and took campers to safety. They did this over and over. Some have estimated they saved about 40 people. http://www.samesame.com.au/news/international/7113/Lesbian-couple-are-Norway-heroes.htm

Growing up in the South, I have always understood why Clay was closeted. I was until my late 20's and I was out of the south. I never once met an openly gay person my age in the south when I was younger. I hope that times have changed. we have many members here from the South, are you seeing more gay guys openly out? Here is a link to Clay's article: http://www.advocate.com/News/Daily_News/2011/07/22/Clay_Aiken_on_Being_A_Gay_Teenager_in_The_South/

California Wow and the Inflation of Prices plus a hard sell

It all depends on where you are located in Bangkok. IMHO, Fitness First is the best gyms around. They are clean and they have great classes and the place is easy to work out in. California Wow is crazy and loud from the moment you walk in. I hate going there but they do have the Les Mills classes I like at the right times. I had bought myself and about 10 other boys lifetime memberships 3 years ago. The lifetime membership expires next month and costs 2,999 baht each year. LOL So, I was going to need to renew or get a new membership later. I decided to go ahead and renew. The reason is Cal Wow is in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya. Another great gym is the Cascade Club. Much more expensive than the other clubs but fabulous. I currently go there but they don't have the classes I want during the day time. Other than that, it is an amazing place. If I were you sir, I would wait till you get situation and then go to each gym and ask for 3 days (they all gave it to me) and test them. See if they are busy the time you go. See if you like the atmosphere. Etc. -
Absolutely. Keep Posting. Many of us love these photos!

I totally agree and he is the last of the media barons. I think this will really disrupt his company and reduce his power a great deal. I hate all monopolies. Expect with escorts in my hotel when I am in their city. That is the only monopoly I see worth fighting for.

California Wow and the Inflation of Prices plus a hard sell

I hate going into most places that start with one number and will vary it down according to how hard they want to sell you. Every California Wow in Thailand is this way. They start out with crazy prices and go down the more times you get up to leave. I started out with a number in mind today which was 13,000 baht for a 3 year Red VIP for all gyms, towel service and one free guest each visit. I thought that was a fair price and a Thai friend paid less than that a few months ago. They started out at 38,000 and then to 24,000 and then to 19,999 and then to 15,999. Each time, I told them what I would pay is 13,000. He got up to talk to the manager a few times and finally said 15,999 was OK with credit card. I told them 13,000 with credit card. They went back and forth and said no. I said OK. Thanks and started to leave. The manager came over and said OK. OK. Special for you! I also made them write into the contract each item I was to get. I had them write all classes, all yoga, free towels for me and guest, 3 years prepaid, all clubs in Thailand, etc. etc. You leave a place like this exhausted. It took 25 minutes before they agreed to the price I told them the first 30 seconds I walked in. -
Wow. I am shocked. I have been there several times over the last 3 months and never seen less than 10 boys. Perhaps they see me hobbling down the street and say, "hey, here is that sucker again" and then call all their friends. OK. You are a late person. I am an early bird. I am usually there are 8-10 at the latest. Later than that, I don't know. My BF tells me I have to be in bed each night by 11PM. I think he must go out at night but not sure as I am usually asleep.

Why were you unable to see the massage boys? They are all sitting in the chairs. When I went this week, there were about 15 - 20 guys there. All were in the massage area and I could see all very well. I pointed to 2 and asked if they wanted a drink in Super A and they both said yes. I agree with Super A in it being very dark. But, if you bring your own fun, it is a blast. Otherwise, I would never have much fun there. I don't think the boys would go to Solid as I think different owner. But, I never asked. It might be possible.

For my friends who live in France, it is a great worry to them. I don't think they are worried much about illegal immigrants as they are extremist Muslims. I am not sure what to equate that fear with in the USA. Growing up in the deep south, there was a fear that blacks and Jews were going to take over America. I never even met a Jew until I moved away from Alabama and still I have more Jewish friends than I do Christian friends. The fear was not something I felt. But, it was a real fear among many I knew from my childhood. People don't understand someone different than they are. I'll admit I understand less about Muslims than I do any religion or people. I don't have any Muslin friends that I know of. In Thailand, there is a big fear of Muslims in the south because of the violence. The people see the headlines and that fear is encouraged. When I was at the gym yesterday, the Thai papers had the massacre from Norway on front page. The Thais were all talking about how the guy was trying to kill all the Muslims in the country. That is their perception. I have rambled but I am not sure how to express the fear of many I know against people who are Muslim. I heard one of the Republican candidates for President talking and he said there would be no Muslim members of his cabinet. Is that far from the fears of many others? Why do you think the Republican's paint Obama as Muslim? They want him to be hated by the American people. These fear tactics have worked for thousands of years. What country is immune?

You can ask for a Single Entry or Double (if they give it and you need it). A single entry gives you 60 days in Thailand. You then go to Immigration after 60 days and request and extension for 30 days. I think that costs 1900 baht. That is what I have done for years and if you are US Citizen, I have not heard of a 90 day Visa other than the above. However, if you have a 1 Year Multiple Entry Visa, you get 90 days upon each entry. I don't think the country you are going to will give it to you.

I understand now. Thank you. I think every little step is important. I also think NY is a big step and not a small one. I think the repeal of DADT was a big one as well. The real biggie is DOMA.
-
Yeah, but you never know what kind of damage they could do!

I am just loving this series. Thanks so much. Can you guess who I have a crush one? Hint: dreads

That looks like a 90 day entry for Malaysia. Sorry, I thought the poster was asking for a visa to Thailand while he was in Malaysia.

I was at Central World the other day for Lunch as my hotel has a shuttle van that drops us off to shop every day and after lunch we went to the IStudio store. We looked down and saw ice skating. It was lovely. I had never seen this before and not sure if I was blind or it is a new thing. But, the people skating looked like they were having a good time. So, I got some skates and started doing my Brian Boytano imitation. jk. I can barely roller skate and ice skating is not my cup of tea. But, for those of you into this, check it out at Central World!
-
Well, they have a mix. But, it is often too dark to tell what they look like. You need to get up close to them to tell. Downstairs is the massage place and it is well lit and you can tell what you are getting. It is the one upstairs and down from Solid.

10 Lessons Learned by a Traveler to Gay Thailand
