I no longer post in real-time ….but can give you an account of BCN Thermas a few days ago

They now do parties where women are welcome.  Seems to be on holiday weekends and Saturday late night.  The opening hours are not necessarily what you will find online.  

It’s always busy around 3p or 4p everyday, although the crowd thins out quickly on off-days.  The garotos do a program or two and they are out, unless they know they have a dedicated customer.

It is basically the same as before Covid.  There’s always someone there to get what you need.  Ideally, make a connection w someone that works there & then you can ensure they will be there when you want.  It’s still possible to leave it up to chance, but not necessary when the boys are so friendly and appreciate good customers.

You will all be happy to know the legendary sling room does exist.  I wouldn’t describe as behind the bar, but I understand how it could be described that way.  You’d never know unless you ask for it & even then, they pretend like it doesn’t exist.  a garoto was finally successful in getting the coveted key.

My one time there about 15 years ago, there seemed to be a lot of good looking and somewhat tough East European guys with hard bodies. It was heaven to me. Is it much different now?

I’d say majority now are Brazilian, Colombian & Cuban.  Yes, there were usually some Eastern Europeans, but I didn’t notice any last visit. Some of the guys working have a very tough exterior look, but are absolute sweethearts in private. As with any sauna, it feels like the best guys wait to be approached vs the ones that will approach you first with a hard sell.   As for the Brazilians - several graduates of Pointe, 117 and old Lagoa

Thermas never disappoints for me, but I always go with an open mind & no preset outcome.  Just be wary that the hours of operation seem to in flux so you might find them closed when says they are open.  No idea what’s going on with that.  If you want private room, ask for it when arriving, otherwise they will all be occupied for hours and won’t be an option.  The rooms are all controlled by the guy who checks you in, so tip him accordingly.

My experience at Thermas is there is always something for everyone’s taste during primetime from 3/4p until 8p. After that hit or miss. 

Thermas is my favorite sauna just because it’s the closest thing to a Brazilian sauna outside of Brazil and BCN tends to be an overall easier destination to manage.  Barcelona remains overrun with tourists so that’s not great just in terms of the city….in summer it almost becomes unbearable.  Before or after summer is fine & much different. Feels like there are plenty of options to hire outside the sauna, but not comparable to either Rio or SP in that way.

i see that announcing it publicly could attract more boys who may be hopeful to have a woman as a customer some day, but they may quickly be disappointed. 

It would be awkward for me to see a female customer in the sauna. Just my opinion. Major buzz kill.

I had no idea we are suppose to tip the guy on the front desk...lol.

When I went, one time there was this huge muscular guy and he was very sweet on the front desk. But the other days there was a guy with glasses, didnt look spaniard to me. He was kinda rudish type.

I also would add that there are Venezuelans also there. Ahh I met this dreamy venezuelan boy 😍. I miss him so much..lol 

Agreed. Thermas is amazing. I have never been to Brazil but I met one guy at thermas from brazil and he told me that if I like this type of scene I really need to visit Brazil.

true - it’s just confusing at first, if unaware of new structure.  but I think the parties cause delays in regular hours also because then it requires more cleaning ….I know, it shouldn’t affect the other hours…but, it seems to in current operation.  some garotos seem confused too for now

It’s not customary to tip front desk - but if you want to make sure they have a room for you when you want it…or a specific room. Then tipping will get you much further.

when considering BCN - there are some economic considerations too:

in-sauna Termas at 50 euro (30 min max) compares to in-sauna Lagoa at 200reais = $40us

BCN per hour outcall is 150euro as minimum (and thats a good rate for the customer).  Compared to Rio/SP where it’s 300 reias/$60 for the best outcalls on garotoscomlocal….so, if you prefer finding men in the sauna and then going to hotels, Brazil scores.  It can get expensive in a Spain 

Brazil is way better on the whoremonger calculator. A little more danger/way more savings

Exactly what I was thinking. Likely a major cleaning gig following each ‘rave’ that the average cleaner is not keen on, likely no cash tips for him as place vacated, and also overall sustainability of such staff that likely receive minimum wage. When there in May the reception staffer was often downstairs trying to train a bar counter newbie just to serve, let alone handle room keys and charges that also go on the computer customer tab. They also seem to be routinely advertising for hires. The parties don’t all get listed on Thermas’ media; therefore, one might anticipate a disruption to the main business by always staying abreast of the account I linked. I suspect the profit collected from parties compensates for the lost business that is often meagre at off-peak hours anyway.

Some of these are day parties, with one I see starting at 5 a.m. on a Wednesday! I'd be tempted to attend to see what's up with whacky Europeans and their strange hours. Other parties were advertised as starting 11:59 p.m. and going until the next day. That makes more sense.

There may be some rhyme and reason at times for example Wed Oct 12 a national holiday, and the dawn to afternoon event an after after after party for diehards starting celebrations the evening prior. Perhaps the chems these days. But it’s a residential zone above storefronts and I have to wonder about subwoofer contact vibrations’ impact even though down in the building bowels.

not sure about a set schedule - the party is when they decide it’s a party.

 you might be surprised about who is at the party….and quite likely someone that will make you very happy. just keep an open mind & ask the right questions.  I don’t really mind the unpredictability bc it is more interesting. 

oh - and when the tops switch & want cock to destroy their hole..…muy bueno, as noted I like the unpredictable. a big hairy Dominican top w a hungry hole is going to get whatever he wants

Apparently, the whole facility is open and operating for these parties when they occur, which makes sense, but I don’t know if the fee-based private suites playbook is the same. What is meant by sauna rooms is the venue cabins. Not that it’s relevant to me as my biorhythm is in shock just thinking about these event hours.

yes - still functioning….just not 100% as previous. check their social media for exact day/times of operation.

i feel like the garoto sauna business model has limited time left….clientele base seems to be aging out & the younger generations are not interested enough to support the facilities.  The apps have completely taken over.  Make the best time of whatever is left - they will not be around much longer is my prediction.  I hope I’m wrong

You gonna make me cry! Garotos in sauna is so easy and affordable. You see what you are getting and selection of so many handsome guys. I do understand what you are saying though. 

I really hope it doesnt end. Time to go to Barcelona again!

no, I havent been to the parties - but the garotos say none of them work at the other parties.  It’s promoted as an inclusive gay party, so it’s a completely different crowd…that said, if there is money to be made I’d wager you’d find someone for hire.  

a couple more notes about Thermas - 

It’s as crowded or more so than I remember before Covid. Absolutely packed with a lot of Brazilians who dominate the scene. They give it the feel of a real Brazilian sauna.  The going rate by all is 50euro and nobody asked for more.  Others have noted staffing is an issue and the cleanliness has deteriorated to the point where it’s a bit uncomfortable- it’s hard to find soap in the showers & next time I’d probably bring some along.  They’re doing the best they can because it seems like very hard to get workers anywhere in Barcelona.  Bar service and check-in or anything from front desk can require a wait. Everything feels like it needs a better cleaning.

I prefer the sauna when it’s less crowded, so I’d avoid the peak hours of 4p - 8p.  There is open “party favor” use going on by a small group of guys…and I’m not a prude….but I was uncomfortable at times.  In my mind, I correlate that with other unsafe things that I really don’t want to be around.  But, it’s a garoto sauna and same exact things go in Rio saunas although did not see any of that in new Lagoa.  They guys doing those things tend to stick in a pack and gather on second floor in the rooms, so they can be avoided and are easy to spot.  I would not hire any of them.

I also don’t remember being pestered so much with stories about plane tickets, family emergencies or other drama for money as my recent trip to Spain.  I felt like the minute they spotted an older gringo who was kind & open with them, then the floodgates opened with pleas for money. Not with all guys, but enough times that it was noticeable and unpleasant. A few firm words shut it down, but they do try again another day.  I think it’s a sign of the times where inflation is hitting everyone and they try to make more however possible.  There is a general feeling more people are desperate for money & not just in the sauna.

Thermas is still a favorite - but the best experience for me is completely dependent on going non-peak hours where pestering is at a minimum and enough working guys to have fun. As mentioned previously, the best way for that to happen is to arrange for preferred guys to be there when I go - and that usually requires a minimum commitment beyond one programa. I’d also be careful about payment & time spent with boys ….some will try to go over a programa time and then ask for more money.  That’s why I like to pay before and then tell them to watch the time…never a problem that way. 

Going to Thermas post-Covid & Monkeypox is definitely different for me & I’ve noticed I have more lingering anxiety about being in closed spaces with too many people.  Unfortunately, the carefree days of mingling & intimacy with the guys is a thing of the past - it’s still worth going as it’s the easiest & safest way to find sex in Spain with a variety of choices at a reasonable price.

As others have noted on other threads - I’d be very very careful about using apps for meeting anyone…especially younger guys. Even more so if those guys are using the apps to solicit customers. They are super aggressive & feels like there is a pattern.  If you can verify an apps user identify through a substantial legitimate following on Instagram, OnlyFans or Twitter…then that would be ok.

Spain is relatively safe to visit - but petty street crime is a thing and like anywhere else…always be aware of your surroundings and walk quickly at night with no phones out or anything to distract. The area around Thermas can be dicey after dark when not many people around. 

btw - notorious Egyptian is nowhere to be seen.

so, I was in Barcelona a couple times in last 30 days & made several trips to Thermas.  I’m going to update the cleanliness comment - on one of my visits, they were doing industrial level cleaning the entire place methodically..I mean ammonia, bleach & totally disinfecting everything.  I noticed it on less busy days and closed off small sections as they cleaned.

I think the thing w Thermas is they do volume and it’s extremely busy on certain days..packed w working guys and clients if that’s what you like : Wednesday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday are best days for crowds.  The majority of cabins are at no charge, so of course those get heavy repeated use & cannot reasonably be cleaned between uses although someone does occasionally check.  The rooms for hourly rent are cleaned between uses and I found them to be well prepared & clean upon each use. 

I understand why they are no longer open everyday 24/7 - I stopped by one Monday early afternoon & although they were open, there was literally nobody there.  They said comeback at 4p and they would be people there.  So, if nobody shows up during the day on certain days, then I wouldn’t open my business either….and, the private parties they do on off nights does not really seem to impact the regular sauna business.

The owner is active on-site and was a super nice guy from a brief interaction. Likewise, the staff working front desk, bar & locker room were friendly and fun.  The guy that does massages is amazing at 20euro for 40 minutes - totally legit, thorough and non-sexual.  He uses whatever cabins are open, so hiring him when you have a private paid room is better. 

You really cannot go wrong at Thermas. Even on slower nights, there was always someone around that was exactly what I was looking for.
 

 

I forgot to check at Thermas in May if the free cabin vinyl mattresses are removable. At Paragonya in April the escorts tended to just flip them over (all rooms are included in entrance fee and they are pathetic) when you took a cabin and even prior to Monkeypox I had in my sex kit a pack of disinfectant sheets to clean them, as that bacteria on both sides just accumulates and I suspected the venue cleaned them once a day and perhaps neglected to do both sides. While one cleaner at Thermas was a ‘going concern’ constantly cleaning, despite the evidence that had emerged that fomite contamination by coronavirus is a minimal concern, I doubt that the free cabin mattresses got very regular attention. Therefore, watch out for the bad habit of guys merely flipping them between uses … Staph, Strept, and other infectious microbes, viruses, bacteria, fungi, what have you.

what is the name of the massage guy? many guys there offer massage but never took it because i just assumed it would be bad

I was at Thermas in November. Got there Friday night around 8 pm, which turned out to be very late, whereas, pre-covid, it would have been peak weekend hour. There were only a handful of working guys, but I found one slightly spazzy Brazilian twink with a good-sized lollypop. Saturday was almost up to pre-covid times. I made 4 hires, probably a record for Thermas, but I was there practically all day. Sunday was pretty dead, with only one gorgeous (but slightly boring in the sack) black bodybuilder. Monday was beyond dead. However, one of my previous lays - who now advertises on Rentmen for much higher rates - shows up at Thermas for 50 EUR. (Tried to contact Junior on Rentmen but he never responded - or showed up at Thermas.)

So all in all, Slvkguy must have really lucked out on his visits. The guys at Thermas on the Saturday I was there said it was the most crowded Thermas had been in ages. And to me, it was only an average pre-covid crowd. The "residents" who used to live there (the Polish guy, the Asian Brazilian, the Egyptian guy, etc.) have been replaced by new residents from Venezuela, but even they weren't there on Monday.
