December 11, 20241 yr As a young exec decades ago, I stayed at the Mandarin Oriental. It blew my mind with its service. When I called the front desk, they addressed me by naime (unheard of then). I stepped out for a few minutes and they were in my room refreshing my fruit bowl. Wish I could afford that shit now.

I also stayed there decades ago. I found I could not turn off the radio, in the bedside console. I summoned help. It turned out that the radio wires went through a hole in the wall to the next door room! The radio I could hear was from next door! You could see through! So much for the best hotel in the world. I changed rooms! Mind you in those days it was affordable, not now.

Now you know why I always wonder why Pavillion place in Patpong 2 is not on that list of best places to stay in Bangkok
