PeterRS Posted December 3, 2025 Posted December 3, 2025 A word I had not read until I read it today in the CNN website. Apparently scromiting is the term given to those who overuse cannnibis and end up with a combination of screaming and constant vomiting. Acording to the article the pain is horrendous. https://edition.cnn.com/2025/12/02/health/scromiting-marijuana-vomiting-syndrome-wellness#:~:text=“I'm just begging God,rise in the United States. Members unicorn Posted December 3, 2025 Members Posted December 3, 2025 I've diagnosed a number of patients with Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome, but none of them reported screaming. That's new to me. The improvement of symptoms with hot showers is almost diagnostic (other causes of vomiting don't generally respond to hot showers). Of course, patients may deny THC use, so urine drug screens should be done on anyone with persistent vomiting. floridarob, Ruthrieston and PeterRS 3 Quote

I lived in Amsterdam for many years (in and out of 'brown cafes') and never saw anyone have ill effects or violent reactions to smoking joints. Could it be these new fangled chemical concoctions mixing with cannabis to cause these effects? pong2 1 Quote

The patients I knew with this smoked it, but that's a limited sample. Quote
Travelingguy Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 Marijuana is perhaps the most engineered plant in history. It has been selectively grown to increase the THC and decrease the CBD level in the plants. It is thought that this significant imbalance of very high THC to very low CBD levels increases the risk of hyper emesis associated with chronic use of marijuana. The marijuana you get today is not the marijuana that was available in the 70s and 80s smoking or edibles can cause this This condition is extremely common. It was first reported in Australia, and everybody shook their head when we initially heard about it. Within a year it was seen basically throughout the western world. It is seen virtually every day in emergency departments. Never heard the term scromit floridarob 1 Quote

Travelingguy Posted December 7, 2025 Posted December 7, 2025 Loud retching si commonly heard down the hallway. Screaming less common, but it all comes down to people’s ability to cope with what they are suffering through. Some people are very stoic. Some have no coping mechanisms and most are somewhere in between. Quote
