garygx Posted June 26 Posted June 26 I have an upcoming 2 week trip to Cambodia at the end of July. I had planned to use my Wise card, but just found out that the USA issued wise card is not supported in Cambodia. May I ask what ways you all have handled the money issue when visiting. I was hoping not to travel with a lot of cash in my pocket as I will be traveling around the Philippines before heading to Cambodia. Thank you! Mavica 1 Quote
vinapu Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I always take cash USD to Cambodia and if I'm getting short of it it's easy to withdraw more for ATM Mavica 1 Quote

I think you should specify that by "you all" you actually mean other US folks. My sense is that the majority of members here are not from the US and they won't have the same problem as you. So, like me, they won't be in a position to give you a relevant reply. However a brief Google search reveals that ATMs in Cambodia will dispense cash against Visa and MasterCards, even US-issued ones. If another US traveller has experience actually doing that, then hopefully he will reassure you that the Google result is true. garygx and Mavica 2 Quote
Travelingguy Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Don’t withdraw from ATM using credit card. Instant high interest. Debit cards also have Mastercard and Visa symbols, so I think that is what was meant. I always use either USAA or Charles Schwab debit cards at ATMs overseas, because they refund the ATM fees. You don’t have to already have a Charles Schwab account to open a checking account with them. Quote
garygx Posted June 27 Author Posted June 27 Yes, that is correct, I did need to mention that it would be affecting travelers from USA. Thank you for the correction. I also wanted to avoid using credit cards if possible for the high interest issue. Appreciate the Charles Schwab information and will investigate that. I also saw some recommendations for a Revolut Card. Have any folks (from USA or other) had experience using that for traveling to Cambodia? thank you! Quote

Both these cards are debit cards, so no interest, amounts deducted from your account. UK based cards. garygx 1 Quote
Olddaddy Posted July 24 Posted July 24 I used my Commonwealth bank visa debit card💳 last year in Khon Kaen ,( forgot my other cards) and they charged me $10 AUD to withdraw And despite 3 complaints the bank still wouldn't budge and refund 🏧 So be careful of ATM withdrawal fees 💵 I must look into this WISE card in case I do need to withdraw from an ATM Quote
