Was back to Bali for the first time in around ten years. I have to be honest i didn't really enjoy the gay scene the first time and felt it was the same or worse this trip. The couple of bars are over run by drag shows and there are only a couple of places to go. The selection of guys for me wasn't great but if you like more macho types or hunky it might be for you. With all of the airlines devaluing their miles I am thinking I need to plan something soon for autumn next year. Whilst passing through Bali recently I decided to get a massage and body scrub with extras at Banana Spa, the massage and I had I would rate at 7 out of 10 (I asked for medium pressure but he would have dug in deep if I had wanted and now I wish I had). The extras after the massage I would rate at 9 out of 10 and well worth it, it wasn't a happy ending it was an extremely happy ending with plenty of the extra on offer (more than one option given for the ending). It seems that 200,000 rupiah shortime and 300,000 rupiah longtime are prices that work in Bali. Given that there are no off fees, Bali can be a very economical place. And if you're young, dumb, and full of cum then perhaps you'll get it for free. While the baht's been appreciating the rupiah has been depreciating so if you liked Bali two years agp, you'll really like it now. Drink prices are high, but there are no boy drinks, so there is an illusion that you're really picking someone up who likes your personality and hot bod. Air Asia has some cheap flights making it a good location for a visa run and change of scenery.

Hulu Cafe was firebombed last year and in August moved their drag show to the nearby Bali Beach Shack. It seemed to me that the old show was more elaborate. But more importantly, the old location was solely devoted to the show. There were Indonesian boys hanging around that you could buy a drink for and chat up. The atmosphere at the new location is different. It seems to cater to drunk, straight Aussies. Thumbs down, don't go out of your way to visit though if in the area the 20K Bintangs are reasonable.

OK, I know the fly by night money changers are known to short change people. And I know the exchange rate at the airport is bad. In the past I've exchanged traveller's checks at licensed money changers but this time I don't have enough TC. Are there plenty of ATMs around? Any special things I might need to know about Bali ATMs compared to Thai ATMs. Is the exchange rate for baht to rupiah a fair one? In other words should I bring baht to Bali or should I first change it into dollars or rupiah in Thailand?
