Has anyone got any updates on the resurfacing work that closed the road down to the beach Road please? (the road that goes past the compex near Dick's Cafe) it was a pain in the arse with the baht bus coming out on Soi 7 when I was there in February. I'm back in a few days and would like to visit Dongtan again.

Just in case you need a little extra motivation to strap on a rubber, turns out Ebola can be spread through the semen of former Ebola patients long since fully recovered from the disease. If the medical boffins don't get a handle on this one quick, we may have a new STD spreading. (Syphilis was originally an Andean skin disease that evolved into a VD after Europeans picked it up.) ---- Sucky, it occurs to me that this also means you better make hay while the sun shines (unless you enjoy the taste of latex).

David Letterman Reflects on 33 Years in Late-Night Television The New York Times In a single bound, David Letterman seemed to leap the full length of the stage at the Ed Sullivan Theater, racing from backstage as if he’d been thrust forward by the fanfare played by his longtime bandleader, Paul Shaffer, and his CBS Orchestra, and by the rumble of his announcer, Alan Kalter, bellowing his name — “Daaaaay-vid Leh-terrrr-maaaaaaaan!” It was a routine Mr. Letterman, 68, has performed countless times but will repeat no more after May 20, when he will preside over his last episode of “Late Show,” the CBS franchise he established and has hosted since 1993. Like the veteran sl…

Unplugged Along the California Coast Solo, or with the right person....this could very well be "Heaven on Earth" http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/03/travel/unplugged-along-the-california-coast.html?_r=0 The Answer - Poem by Robinson Jeffers Then what is the answer?- Not to be deluded by dreams. To know that great civilizations have broken down into violence, and their tyrants come, many times before. When open violence appears, to avoid it with honor or choose the least ugly faction; these evils are essential. To keep one's own integrity, be merciful and uncorrupted and not wish for evil; and not be duped By dreams of universal justice or happiness. The…

Another (straight) fella strictly in it for the cash. I love dancing boys and I spend a lot of money on them. But "exposes" like this just make me want to tell the guy that he needs to find another line of work. http://www.vice.com/read/what-its-like-to-be-a-straight-go-go-dancer-in-a-west-hollywood-gay-club-427

Disclaimer--This is a business story, nothing salacious. Unless you get off reading quarterly reports and 10-Ks. Sergio Marchionne, the unconventional CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA), spent much of the company's quarterly earnings call today giving a 25-page PowerPoint presentation explaining why the auto industry spends more money developing and manufacturing its products than it can ever earn back, with its current structure. Here is that presentation: http://www.fcagroup.com/en-US/investor_relations/events_presentations/quarterly_results_presentations/SM_Fire_investor_presentation.pdf How it begins: Confessions of a Capital Junkie An insider perspective on…

mvan1's thread on ordering the sandwich at O'Hare while still on board, got me thinking. I liked San Fran, and Dallas wasn't bad, but curious about others, and right from the git-go let's not mention LA...

For those of us who travel a lot and do not like to check luggage, Boeing has come to our rescue. Below is a link to a video that shows the new overhead bins that will eventually be standard on all new Boeing aircraft. Overhead space on an airplane is often difficult to find unless you board early. With the new type bins, there is up to 48% more bin space. This will make a lot of customers happy. Take a look at this 2015 video that shows the bins -

Now I have heard everything (almost). I.e., an app to order a sandwich (to pick up in the terminal) while you are still aboard an aircraft. This sandwich is in high demand at the airport and it is nutritious and tastes pretty good. As the author states in the below linked article, there is often a line to order this sandwich. The fact that people are willing to stand in line for this sandwich, indicates that the sandwich must be good. If you are connecting through Chicago, O'Hare, consider this as an alternative to various restaurants at the airport or waiting to eat airline food - yuk! http://viewfromthewing.boardingarea.com/2015/04/25/now-you-can-order-your-sand…
