If you are bored to go to the beaches in Copacabana and Ipanema, you can go visit other beaches nearby. There are quite a lot ! All beaches in Barra da Tijuca, Recreio, Pontal, Macumba and Secreto and partly Grumari are sand beaches. From Grumari, it is sand and rocks. Abricó is the only nudist beach in Rio. With Prainha, it is for me the nicest. Praia de Abricó It is relatively small. During week days you can keep your clothes pn if you want. During week ends, you must remove all clothes. Spending time in Rio is great because there are the boys and beach. But there are many other things which can be done ... Tartegogo's 2018 comments on why you should go to this and why you should not go are still valid. I would add that you can also go there on a saturday nite if you like really wild parties ... It is funny to see evolution of fees : 20R$ back in 2012 (but it was a boy at a saturday party who was willing to get some R$ to buy booze) ; 60 R$ in 2018 and 100 R$ in 2023. Following recommendations of Tomcal, we decided to go to Bangu sauna on sunday which is supposed to be the best day there. Bangu is located 30 km from Rio. We struggled a little since the sauna Casa Grande is not well poditionned on google : it is actually on the opposite side of the railway. But it is well positionned on uber so if you use uber, it should be ok.
