  1. Day 5:

I went to the Mercado de Las Pulgas in Usaquen. It was actually really nice to see different types of products. I eventually got my first taste of Jugo de Lulo, Chirimoya, Mamoncillo, and Anon (certainly an easy name to remember). It was amazing how many exotic fruits Colombia has. I think I bought too much, so there's no room for other fruits (in retrospect, I really should just get one of each). Lunch was at Boho. I find that the price there was only slightly cheaper than comparable stuff in Canada. So I was like how were local Colombians able to afford that? I understand that Bogota is the capital of the country, but definitely not everyone there was tourist from abroad. I find that the weather tends to be much nicer in the morning because it was pouring in the afternoon. Thank god I got into a cab before it really started to pour.

I had nothing else to do since it was pouring outside. I turned on grindr for sure. Being the exotic guy here certainly has its benefit. I am the rarer species than whites. Bingo. This Cali mixed guy that works for an American company invited me out for cafe/light dinner. That's just perfect. He knows both English and Spanish, so the opportunity of being able to learn Spanish is just too good to pass up, so I was like right on. We talked about a lot of things including the social class, gay culture, things to do, and how to learn Spanish. No sex and I suppose there's just no mutual chemistry, but the convo was great, and I will never say no to a Spanish class.

However, things brightened up very quickly when I got back to my room. This young guy in his 20s originally from Pereira wanted to meet, so I was like who was I to say no to a Paisa guy. 178cm tall and 65kg. 20 cm I believe. Perfect size. Communication was easy because he was learning English in the UK for almost a year. I also find that guys that speak English tend to be safer and of high social class here in Bogota. I could be wrong on this. He almost got hard instantly and we made out and did all the naughty things together. I must say that topping seems to be 2nd nature to the Paisa guys. They can be soft spoken, but as soon as they are in bed and starting to make out, it's a different story. The ones I have had so far all like to be in the driver's seat and really take control. They would give you a couple minutes to warm up, but after that, I am their bitch. They just pounded ignoring your begging and screaming. He also had really stamina. He pounded me for a good 30 minutes and after a deep moaning, he shot a huge load into the condom that almost overflew. Damn, I have to say I am kinda hooked on Paisa men. I also find that Paisa guys tend to have light skin tone and higher statue.

Oh for me StM was to see and sample the massage trade, though the one session I had was in a small space taken up by the table and awkward to navigate thru the motions of intimacy though it worked not badly.

I thought the hotel idea is based on keeping your cool and doing what you want unless the staff have something to say about it. If you are buzzed in, I would think you want to look like you are engaged in animated conversation or looking together at your phone, in case the staff think it is a non-guest who slipped in as you entered.

Certainly. Thank god all the guests behaved themselves. I am just worried if I continue to bring male guests over at various times, they will certainly raise an eyebrow. The only good thing is that none of them is a paying situation, so I guess I am sorta okay?

Gigolo Erotic House was closed Sundays in September (Open only Fri Sat) but now seems open again and tonight is “casting live” theme. Your big audition? LOL

It is not for me and I typically like strip clubs, see previous notes, but you should be able to beat the cover entrance if you go to St Moritz baths below it first (you may as well have a look some time). The overlap between the two is 20:00-22:00, on weekends GEH got fairly full by 22:30 as it is a small space.

In StM a hunky bodybuilder (about 35?) client kept looking at me so I got the nerve to give him my number as he was dressing to leave. He accepted it graciously and seemed enthusiastic  but seemed quizzical about the country code (+1). No follow up, so he either lost interest or messed up the contact entry. I should have just tried to leave with him for dinner etc but it was the night I wanted to check out GEH. I applied my FOMO to the wrong choice! ...                      My point is that you might score, but personally I do not regard the private cabins as suitable for hookups. The one I peered into had only a dirty worn looking vinyl ergonomic sex bench. I cannot imagine the floors being free of moist detritus. The showers and high temp spaces seem reasonably OK though.

Audition can be fun? I bet the guys wanting the role will try really hard to please.

What's there to see at the bathhouse? I am quite a hygienic person, and I can't really picture myself having sex on floors that could be covered by cum, sweat, and bacteria.

Anyway, big mistake on me for taking so much precaution. I booked a boutique hotel in Zona G, and I have to be buzzed in every time. It's good that I know I am super safe. However, I don't know how they feel about me bringing guests over even though there's nothing in the hotel policy saying that I am prohibited to do so. Should I continue to bring people over?

Thank you for your report! Would you explain what you mean by "morbo", please?

    1 hour ago, Riobard said:

I have seen the term in ads and quoted by a provider (image appended) I booked, but it still seems ambiguous to me. So I am curious as well.

I take it to mean “sick”, as in edgy or unusual in relation to conventional standards of intimacy, so in the gay context it essentially seems to have no significant meaning. I do not think it means “anything goes”, but that the provider is trying to communicate he is open to deviation from heteronormative. So perhaps “kink”? Or simply “foreplay”?

”trato de pareja” is easier ... BFE.

Going to Gigolo Erotic House on Friday or Saturday is a must if you like sexy shows, hot boys and fun with them ! Have a look to the thread "Columbia full list of hot spots"

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I have already missed the opportunity given that I was pretty occupied by the Paisa guy on Friday and didn't want to go to Theatron on Saturday. Because I don't drink and speak very little Spanish, it seems a bit pointless to me. Is Sunday a good idea for GEH? I just realized that it's a holiday tomorrow, so not sure if it will get busy on Sunday.

However, from my understanding, morbo means kissing, touching, body contact, and basically stuff not covered by other words like beso negro, penetracion, I can be totally wrong in this regard.

One of the few perks of card-carrying Golden Girl status is free admission to Museo del Oro. But you evidently got the better tradeoff. LOL

Are you finding yourself to be an effortless hottie-magnet simply in the general community?

Enjoy the hot DARK PARTY rumba tonight!

I wouldn't say effortless, but I have certainly improved my learning and understanding of the language in the meantime. But being the rare commodity here, it certainly has its benefits.

    Day 4:

Today is slow so far, but a nice Colombian showed me around Zona G and we tried a local traditional Colombian restaurante. The best perk is that he was studying abroad in NZ and the UK, so communication was very easy. We didn't have sex cuz he's only into morbo. I did learn quite a few naughty gay expressions in Spanish and we spent quite some time talking. No sex is perfectly fine for me.

I am not a club person, but still debating if I want to go to Theatron tonight. Any suggestions? With my limited Spanish skills and not an alcohol drinker, I am not sure how much I will enjoy the club. Any suggestions? But venue itself is probably worth visiting.

Tomorrow I am going to the Mercado de Las Pulgas in Usaquen, so that should be fun. I am definitely taking my time slow here in Bogota.

I think that forecasting a shitty trip, a week out, is not a great idea and I hope that the OP does not feel compelled to go back to the drawing board unless it is possible and convenient.

I had essentially 6 full days in Bogotá. I would definitely return. I do understand that Medellín has some appealing features. Much has to do with the "luck" of scores. A guy in Chapinero pushed all the right buttons to the level of (my) obsession). But yes, Bogotá is chilly weather-wise. I followed the temperature months ahead and packed accordingly. I had a gas firepit on the terrace and was happy as a clam sitting out there with coffee.

However, I walk for hours and prefer cooler weather to keep up energy and stamina.

I think that I always had enough small bills to pay for drinks without depending on accurate change returned. Otherwise, I cannot comment on getting rooked. Yeah, the private dance space is one square meter and after one sample I determined was a lost cause.

I forgot to mention that ATM withdrawal was exactly at formal exchange points, 0 markup compared to 15% markup at Calforex outlets in Canada. I used BBVA or some other local bank I cannot remember on Carrera 13 just north of Calle 63 (across from the open space Plaza Lourdes), but then discovered a Scotiabank right next door that allowed far greater withdrawal limit.

I still haven't booked any accommodation yet (the trip got rescheduled to the 6th). As long as I have a place to crash and return to Bogota intact on Nov 15, I am good. I am really debating between these two cities. Damn, why is traveling so hard? haha

If you only have 11 days,  I would stay a week in Medellin and 4 days in Bogota.  I went this past spring for the first time and did not enjoy Bogota at all, but loved Medellin.  Bogota was big, cold, and it was difficult to meet people. Theatron was fun, but it it a mix crowd and the music is terribly loud making it almost impossible to meet guys if you don't speak spanish. Most people there weren't looking to hook up with a foreigner either. they were busy having fun with friends.  Gigilos, Riobard said, was also very loud. I had to shout the little spanish that I know in waiter's ear and couldn't hear is response ever. They also tried to take advantage of me many times by not bring the right change, charging me more than they should have and so on. I waited for 2.5 hours and still didn't see anyone naked. The two booths with a curtain are so dark I wouldn't enjoy taking someone in there. I was really disappointed. I didn't go to the baths. I stayed in Chapinero and while it was interesting, was kind of disappointed with it overall. The several gay bars that are by parque de los hippies are very small and were either empty or jam packed. I did meet up with a couple of guys there that I met online and one through Grindr.

Medellin, on the other hand, was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. I wasn't impressed by the gay bars. they were also small, too loud, or jammed packed, but the weather, scenery, things to do, and guys I met were awesome. It takes a little work to meet guys, but you can easily through grindr or miloerotico.

I stayed in 2 airbnbs. Both had security personnel at the apartment entrance but I had no problem bringing guys back. If you there's nothing in the airbnb listing about not being able to have visitors, they can't stop you. You rented the place. They can't make up stuff after the fact. There are a few listing in Medellin that say no say no prostitution in their listing, but I avoided those. There are plenty of others.

Again,  you'll enjoy Medellin much more than Bogota in my opinion.

    I'm Canadian as well

    Good luck

Thanks for the feedback, and it's really helpful!

I actually just got the air tickets and haven't booked my accommodation yet which was crazy considering my trip was like 2 days away! The only problem is that I want to go visit Theatron, and with Saturday being the busiest, I will have to stay through Saturday and probably leave a bit time to recover. We Canadians should be used to the cold and wet, no? lol

Any guys you met that were reliable and you could recommend?

By intense I mean young mixed high-energy crowd and ear-splitting subwoofer volume, fine when I was that age. Similarly, at Gigolo Erotic House, a small space with volume nearly at eardrum hemorrhage level. And you will not interact with gogos at Theatron unless a local guides you or you are extroverted and fluent in Spanish. It is not easy-peasy.

Mileroticos ads are hit and miss, many fakes and scams, and I def suggest you require a three-finger selfie as well as meet in public. A good steak lunch around Lourdes will run about $15CDN apiece. The one date from there was great, unrushed about 2 hours about 175,000 (70 CDN) including ‘voluntary’ tip.

You will likely get free Grindr offers.

Cautionary tips? The usual, I am not going to repeat them.

If you are not adept I suggest networking for your trade at Saint Moritz and the providers may also hook you up with friends. They get $60,000 for erotic massage ($25CDN!) in a shitty space because the house gets the other half. So they may have contacts to your liking if you butter them up with generous tips. Not that I tried that method.

The guy I hired there was a sweet hot muscular top who did everything a top does. My sense is that they may score once per shift if lucky, and are mostly killing time, as it doubles as a regular sauna with clients on the prowl for free hook-ups in the disgusting cabins.

I would not say being a foreigner is an advantage for hooking up locally, unless it is a hire, or a non/hire that is closeted and prefers non-locals to maintain image.

I had a gono scare back home that turned out to be a pharyngeal virus that did not morph into a sinus cold. I had let my guard down (receptive oral). However, rates of STI among trade likely call for condomented oral. Researching drug-resistant gonorrhoea info yields conflicting data. It may not be as super-duper as feared, but I def do not want exposure. I had also worried that I may have been exposed and transmitted it to the bar staff guy I convinced to take pay-for-gay. There are some data suggesting that Listerine kills gono among folks who are infected, so that leads me to believe a thorough gargle is good practice following oral, as it may prevent the pathogen from taking hold.

Thanks man. Can't wait for the trip.

Yes Chapinero, low C60s east of one of the main n/s drags, K7. Liked it. The PH price a steal for what it was.
Theatron rather intense for me, an older guy in bed by midnight. I am more into the arts apart from getting laid.

Personally I think adding Cartagena in that time frame would be rushed. But I do not work so I can pace.

As you are in Canada(?) flights from TO are cheap and direct. AC adding direct from MTL to BOG year-round starting June. Air Transat to San Andres weekly in winter is also an option, from where one can hop to the mainland on domestic flights.

    Thanks a lot.

Intense in a good way or bad way? Just not quite sure what to expect there. But it seems that as a gringo, it's not too difficult to get laid?

Yes, I will be flying from Toronto. I didn't realize until I booked it. I will probably just visit Bogota and Medellin this time. Costal Colombia does not interest me as much as I can probably get that elsewhere.

    Any cautionary tips?

7 days more than adequate for Bogotá. You may have seen my sight suggestions.

I could not have guests in my Airbnb (it was clearly restricted), but Las Palmas love motel started at about $6USD for a surprisingly really decent room and bath for a date. There were pleasant staff around and it is for young couples without privacy at home as well as for escort trade. Classy place, though, and very welcoming of my agenda. I think they are equipped to be vigilant about the dynamics that might occur, in contrast to a regular hotel. And I am pretty sure the escort has to be let out of the premises formally on departure. Buzzed through both directions.

Technically, Airbnb type homes must have a federal tourist license. I doubt mine did. I think hosts in compliance list the registration in the ad. I did not inquire. I spent 100USD for a gorgeous penthouse, likely cheaper than a decent hotel there. Certainly quieter. It was just rented out permanently; maybe the host got flack from the authorities.

I do not stay in hotels. I would likely rent a room in a family home first. It is a matter of personal choice. I am a light sleeper and slamming doors at all hours of day and night keeps me awake. But there are also some boutique or conventional hotel room options on Airbnb ... the distinction is becoming less clear with the cross-pollination.

Thanks man. I follow your posts almost to a tee.

100 USD/day? That must be a gorgeous place. Did you also stay in Chapinero?

How was Theatron? Did it live up to its hype? I was debating if I should also visit Cartagena. Do you think I will have enough to enjoy all 3 cities?

  11. I finally booked my trip to Colombia, and will depart on the 4th of November and return on the 15th. After reading virtually all the posts about Colombia, still curious about a few things:

    1. Are 7 days enough to get a taste of Bogota? I plan to stay in Bogota from the 4th to the 11th, and will be in Medellin for the remainder of trip. Is that a good time split?

    2. I am debating if I should stay at the hotel or airbnb in Chapinero. Any suggestions?

    3. Besides the Gold Museum, Mount Monserrate, Museum Nacional, and Theatron (lol) any other must-go-to places?

    4. I have seen different opinions about having guests over. Some recommend love hotels, and some say you can bring guests over after vetting them in public and getting a sense of who they are. What is the best approach?

    Thanks guys!

    Finally, some replies...

It is irrelevant.  Almost every major Colombian city has one (or three). And normally these types of compression socks look awkward on some guys, but on these guys it works! Even the boys, who are cam boys and therefore used to seeing naked hot man flesh every day (and get to have sex with it), got so hot and bothered by the strippers.  They even asked me if I can pay these strippers to pay us a visit in the apartment. I seriously thought about it, but alas we did not have time.

This is a great idea for a follow-up post! Maybe when I go to a Colombian sauna this could be something I can work on. There's a lot of stuff on Brazil, might as well have one for Colombia too.

Thanks for the tip! Definitely for next time. I must admit, we hardly minded the "bad quality" booze during the 4-hour window. We were constantly going up and down stairs and dancing our asses off, so I guess we fully metabolized the awful alcohol, as we did not get hangovers. We left around 3:15 AM after having two rounds of beers (I forgot the price, probably insignificant), and then we continued the party at the apartment with some beers we bought earlier, and some homemade leftover arepas we heated up from the lunch before. Between drinks and talking (and getting the hang of Colombian Spanish) I think we got to bed at around 6 AM.

Indeed :). I have my own way to get sex in Colombia, which is a little different on how I get it in Brazil.  Both are fun of course. We are spoilt for choice.

    More replies later...

Colombia is definitely the next country I want to visit. It seems that it offers just as many sex guys as in Brazil, but much more affordable.

Would love to see more photos and can't read that lists!

There's a few threads on Bogota and Medellin but they get sort of lost. I'll try to remember most details.

Bogota is certainly worth the trip just for a visit to the Gold Museum if nothing else. Hundreds, maybe thousands of beautiful Pre-Columbian gold pieces of art and jewelry displayed in a modern museum. The Botero museums in both Bogota and Medellin are also very visit-worthy. Bogota is the "Capital of the Andes" high in the Andes and populated by Inca descendants. Cool and often cloudy. But Bogota is a big (8 million) modern, European-like city. It's clean and safe. Everything costs twice as much as Medellin and everyone seems to wish they lived in Medellin.

Bogota has a huge gay scene. Chaperino is the gay area of Bogota and Theatron nightclub is the largest in Latin America and possibly the world. There are also a dozen "saunas with masseurs" in Chaperino. Each has 5-10 massuers. In Columbia, unlike Brazil, the guy has to put you on a massage table and at least make the pretense of starting a massage. In fact, in all the ones I visited in Bogota, this is all you get, possibly with happy ending. There are 1 or 2 nice looking guys at each sauna but then you run into attitude. And the prices again, are twice Medellin's for half as much. In summary, the guys in Bogota are not super good looking, have attitudes, and are not cheap.

Medellin is more a tropical city (even though it's in a deep Andean valley-beware that ride in from the airport). It's bigger than you'd expect ( 2 million) but doesn't seem that big. Usually perfect weather and very friendly smiling people. The people are a beautiful mix of mostly Spanish European with a little Inca and Central American Indian. Think the more European looking Mexican or Argentine types. (The only blacks in Colombia are in the far-northeast Carribean islands). They stay in pretty good shape physically and are extremely active sexually. One-quarter of the guys on Chaterbate are in Medellin and they are easy to talk with and set up meetings on Chaterbate. I would highly recommend this as Medellin can be hard to hook-up once there for some reason. Grindr has a lot of profiles with "prepaygo" titles, which is slang there for escorts. I would be leery of strangers off Grindr though. Networking works best in Medellin.

Besides trying to snag a guy in the several gay nightclubs in the Laureles neighborhood, there are two main venues in Medellin for cash-and-carry guys, Club Tobi and Calle 57.

Club Tobi is a beautiful big modern clean sauna with masseurs who do a lot more than massage. It's about 3 blocks in on Calle 47 from the main street, Oriental (you must use street #'s in Medellin there are no signs). I understand Christain, who was a solid 9/10, has moved to Europe. There are usually 3 masseurs each day, but other employees rotate as masseurs and are available. Unlike Bogota, you get on a massage table, then anything goes immediately. There is a big gym where the employees and masseurs work out all day so they stay in excellent shape. The fee for "massage" is about $25, all-inclusive. This is one of the most-sought-after jobs in gay Medellin. I would certainly get phone numbers and referrals here, ie: network. Both customers and massuers are extremely attractive.

Calle 57's 1st block west from the main street, Oriental, is a marketplace of male meat. There is a smallish hustler bar with roll-up front making the guys spill on the sidewalk. Across the street is a larger nicer gay hustler bar and an hourly gay sex hotel (painted in rainbows). You pick a guy and get a room. The "street" is more an alley and the two hustler bars and the hourly hotel are all within 20 feet so it's a very transactional place. It opens about 5 or 6 and gets crowded later. I am extremely picky and unfortunately out of dozens of available guys there I rarely see one who's attractive. This is amazing in Medellin, a city of truly attractive guys. There is also a small dirty sauna with masseur a few doors down, but again, extremely ugly. Do not venture further down 57 or on the other side of the cathedral there. There are supposed to be a couple gay venues but totally not worth the danger on the other (west) side of the cathedral. You will be mugged.

Parque Lleras in the touristy area of Polanbo is a gay bar/cruise area that is supposed to be easy to meet guys in. I haven't tried it. Neither have I tried the gay nightclubs in the  Laureles neighborhood. But Medellin is very gay-friendly and it's really easy to pick up guys. It's just that it helps a lot if you prepare with dates off Chaterbate and network from Club Tobi. The pickings off just Club Tobi and Calle 57 can be limited.

A great thing is flights to Colombia are plentiful, fast and cheap. Not much further than Florida. Avianca is a great airline and besides American, United, Delta, JetBlue and even Spirit fly to the big cities, usually for $150 each way. Hotels, especially in Medellin, are very cheap as well. The worst part of the trip is the long ride over a huge mountain from the airport to Medellin in a small taxi.

yes, the guys really look like those in the Facebook profile !

A half hour having sex with a muscular young massuer at Club Tobi in Medellin is $25. A half-hour of getting your back rubbed by a barely-passable guy in Bogota who expects a tip ends up closer to $50.

I haven't been to Medellin for 2 years and I hear my #1 pick, Christain at Club Tobi moved to Europe. There is a poster on the thread who lives in Medellin and knows the house of guys. A quarter of the guys on Chaterbate are in Medellin and love meeting in person. Just network before going  and from guys at Club Tobi 1st day. Be careful in the hustler bar/sex hotel block and don't expect much there. A gay guide would be good.

    Thanks!

Just curious why you have stopped going to Medellin. Where is your new fav these days? I just found a really cheap airfare for Bogota in January like $400. Is it a good time to visit?

  17. 2 hours ago, tassojunior said:

The guys in Bogota are twice as expensive and not half as good looking, It's hard to explain: the conventional wisdom in Columbia is that Bogota is Inca Indian primarily while Medellin is European-Latino but it's more than that. Both cities are more mixed Spanish/Inca. Bogota is a huge city high in the Andes and very well-to-do. Guys don't need money. Medellin is a little smaller and much sunnier and warmer in a deep verdant valley. People are more what we think of as latino and poorer. Guys need cash. Plus it's a big party town like Rio or New Orleans. Bogota is no party town in spite of it's huge gay area. I'm not sure I ever saw anyone smile there.

Basically, Medellin is New Orleans and Bogota is Jersey City with a pre-Columbian gold art museum.

Medellin is totally safe in all but the northwest part of downtown, west of the cathedral. Most guys have strapping muscular bodies, are bi and are eager. It's just you have to use Club Tobi and referrals from there, Grindr, Chaterbate, etc to get dates. They love hairy guys (to them it's a sign of European-ness). I would invest in a gay guide maybe with connections. Like everything else in Medellin, one would be very inexpensive.

Thanks again for elaborating the differences between these two cities. It seems that Bogota may be more uptight and Medellin is more flamboyant.

You did mention a few times about the price differences. Could you give me some examples? Maybe like if it costs 50 USD to get a guy in Bogota, and it only costs 25 USD in Medellin. I have no idea how much it actually costs, so just using that as an example.

What's the most effective and safest way to find guys? It seems that the members here refer guys in Brazil, but I haven't seen anyone mention such a thing in Colombia.

By the way, I just came across a long post you wrote about Medellin. I guess you are the Medellin expert! Maybe you even have a few guys you can recommend there!

Bogota has a fairly large suana-with-masseur scene; maybe 7-10. As in Lima the guys are physically disappointing for the most part. Also expensive and lacking in talent. There's a huge gay area of town and huge gay bars (Theatron). Bogota is a very big European-like city that's comparatively well-to-do. The Gold Museum of pre-Columbian gold art is worth the visit alone (many people go just for that).

Medellin is Where the Boys Are. Strapping latinos eager for anything and cheap. Oddly there's few saunas with boys but Club Tobi is one of my favorites anywhere and a good place to start. A good quarter of the guys on Chaterbate are in Medellin and eager to meet clients in person. If you click on "Just South American Rooms" on CB, almost all will be Medellin. Any tip, even a single 10 cent token, gets you a message. Also Grindr in Medellin is full of  "Prepagos" , ie escorts. There's a block off the main street with hustler bars and a sex hotel. Unfortunately, the only ugly guys in Medellin are there. Medellin is extremely cheap. A "massage" with sex at Club Tobi is under $25.

If you've seen the Gold Museum, there are cheap direct flights to Medellin from Miami and Ft. Lauderdale. It's very close. Even Spirit and JetBlue fly there. The worst part of a trip to Medellin is the taxi ride over a mountain from the airport. Take nausea pills.

    Thanks for the information!

I have not been to either Bogota or Medellin, but many seem to suggest that guys in Medellin are way more attractive than the ones in Bogota. What are the guys like in Medellin? How about in terms of safety?

I don't know much Spanish, so may just stick to Bogota. Are the boys in Bogota considerably more expensive than the ones in Medellin?
