  1. It has been ages, but a Brazilian friend and I once rented a car and drove the Alagoas coastline. Alagoas has some of the most picturesque beaches in all of Brazil. And large stretches remain blissfully untouched by development. So, I highly recommend spending some time outside the city. I only used Maceio and Aracaju as pit stops, so not much insight regarding the cities themselves. One thing to note is that both have high crime rates, so do not let their relative small size or laid back vibe fool you regarding taking the usual safety precautions.
  2. Yes, the area of Baixo (lower) Augusta street, and particularly the parallel Frei Caneca street, one block over, have a large LGBT+ concentration. Rua Frei Caneca has historically had the nickname of Gay Caneca.
  3. Riobard, pardon my ignorance. You are right. Autism is another priority category that was added last year (at the same time that blood donors were added).
  4. Given how notorious Brazil is for its lines, I do think it is good they give priority to certain categories in every day situations (like supermarkets). However, I agree they have taken these priority categories to ridiculous levels, with some categories being open to interpretation as to what qualifies, and everyone knows the airplane staff just wants to board the plane (and is not going to question why certain people are in the line). Combine those factors, with the Brazilian way (stereotypically) to bend rules to the max, and you have ½ the plane trying to use the priority line! I had to look up that last category (the ribbon): it is for blood donors. So, go give blood, and you too can apparently join the priority line if you do not otherwise qualify.
