Spoliers....

He's taken a few liberties with the series.

The Enterprise looks like the Enterprise on the outside, but it's different on the inside.

The uniforms look like the original series uniforms.

Zachary Quinto favors Leonard Nimoy a LOT.

Karl Urban channels Deforest Kelley extremely well.

Chris Pine is fucking HOT!!!

The sound effects are the sound effects from the original series.

The computer is voiced by the late Majel Roddenberry (as it should be).

Here's a few images for you :

and of course, the revised trailer, with an old friend at the end....

Give me Sylar/Spock any day of the week.

Kirk is and always has been a jerk.

"SPOCK!!!"

"Ship...out of danger?"

"Yes. You saved the ship. You saved us all."

"I never..took...the Kobayashi Maru. What do you think ...of my solution?"

"Spock...."

"Do not...grieve...Admiral. It is not logical. The needs of the many....outweigh..the needs....of the few...."

"Or the one."

"You have been..and always shall be...a pompous jerk..."

"What the hell?"

"Well, he may be dyin' Admiral, but he dinna ever lie..."

"Let's go, Scotty, I'm sure the ham here needs more time to emote..."

"Klingon Bastards!! You killed my son!!"

"That's the next movie, Jim."

I still want to see The Day the Earth Stood Still mentioned in the first post even though it hasn't received great reviews. Was going to go see it today...until I found out I needed a new car battery. Shopping for Car Batteries is a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon, but at least I didn't find out I needed a new battery before an important appointment or before going out for the evening.

The reviews I've read imply that buying car batteries is a better use of almost anyone's time than seeing that movie.

I know...I've seen the reviews...but some irrational desire in me wants to see it. I'm going to try again this week.

I am still a fan of the original ST TV series. It is so old it is coming back either as campy or certainly as a prime example of how things were done then.

Some of the behind the scenes feats were interesting. For instance, the sliding doors that opened whenever someone approached? The set people were never able to make that happen with technology. They actually had two people just standing there to open the doors at the proper time. I am sure opening the doors could be done at some price but they had a budget.

Best regards,

RA1

Finally saw Star Trek previews today in a theater....hot actors, and a really funny dead-on Scotty.

Simon Pegg promises to be a hoot as Scotty.

I also think Karl Urban's McCoy will be very faithful To DeForest Kelley's.

"That character that is written in the script is very faithful to the character that was created back in '68," (actually 1966, but...) said Urban, "and everything that the wonderful DeForest Kelley did to imbue his character with that great compassion for humanity and that sense of irascibility. I think that the long time fans will be very happy with this film.
