Guest EXPAT
I know there has been a lot of controversy over Paula Deen's late announcement that she was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes 3 years ago. Many believed she delayed telling anyone because it would have destroyed her then current public profile and TV shows, appearances, etc. And now with her telling the Today Show audience that not only was she diagnosed 3 years ago, now she is a paid spokesperson for a diabetes drugs. She has had a lot of backlash for this. Now the ad below is coming out from the New York Sports Clubs. I think this is a bit tacky frankly. Members OneFinger
I think this is a bit tacky frankly. I think the ad is a stroke of genius. If I had a health club, I'd use it.
Guest EXPAT
I guess I'm in the minority on this one. All my friends also thought this was a genius ad. I guess I don't think making light of someone's disease as funny or clever, regardless of how or when she announces it. If they had left her name out then maybe, but then, of course, it wouldn't have had the impact I suppose.
Members JKane
Yeah, I think she deserves every bit of that and worse... (The photoshopped hat is part of an Interne 'scumbag' meme.)

Members JKane
Damn it, can't get this one to link or download, but it's good too. Paula Deen
Guest EXPAT
OK. I guess you are right. She is trying to capitalize on everything she does and delayed being honest in order to capitalize on it. So I guess she deserves all of it. It's taken me a while to get there but I see everyone's point.
