Havana is much rougher travel and lacks a lot of amenities. If one is American, it also requires extra logistical and financial planning due to the embargo.

As for guys, I don't notice a huge difference in attitude. You can get passionate or mechanical or both in either city. Luck of the draw. I'm new here and reading through some old forums. Looks like your question never got answered. Cine Lido isn't really in a bad part of town - it's a commercial district that closes up around 6 p.m., around the time the theater opens. Action at Cine Lido starts when they open and peters out by 7:30, so if you go during those times, when you leave, it's not that late, but it is deserted. If you go, I'd suggest first checking it out while it's still light out so that you can plan the best route for you to return to your hotel or Airbnb. I've never had any problems, but the last time I went (2019) when I was leaving and heading back towards El Conde, an aggressive woman approached me. I'm older now with gray hair and I guess look more like the type of older American man who goes there for pussy. She would not relent and was reaching out and touching me until finally I had to shout at her in Spanish not to touch me and to leave me alone.  The same thing happened to me another night when I was walking through the park in front of the cathedral. I guess I had the look - again, I had to shout in Spanish (in a very crowded area) for her to leave me alone. I've been to the DR about 4 times and have been to Cine Lido every time and never had any problem other than the recent trip with aggressive female sex workers. If you go, of course, be smart - leave your phone and wallet in your room and only bring enough money for the entrance and maybe a snack or bottle of water afterwards.

Now that things are opening up I'm ready to travel again. Your report made me want to return to SD. I was there in 2019 and for the first time stayed at a hotel. I had no problems bringing guys to my room - they had to check in at the desk. I'm not sure I'd want to try bringing three though, but it does sound super hot! Thanks for the report.
