Sweet Basil Restaurant is in an old wooden house in the Silom district.   I believe it has been open about 17 years, so it must be doing something right.

I believe the food is adjusted for Thai taste so maybe spicy for you.  You can always ask for less Hot.
It's not a gay place but gay friendly.
