Like z909 I’ve had very few significant problems with Asian rent boys over the almost 20 years of visits to Thailand. One however sticks in my mind of a Pattaya boy I had slept with during several consecutive trips and who had started to regard me as his daddy. On this occasion I had offed him 3 nights in a row but had wanted a change so had told him I wouldn’t be coming to his bar that night. Instead I went online for a bed companion. About midnight there was a loud bangIng on my hotel room door - it was him with a friend demanding to know why I had not turned up and that he had missed off opportunities. Things looked threatening so I told the online boy to go giving him the LT rate. Thankfully the guy on reception came because of the noise. He advised me to pay my “boyfriend” some money which I did and they left still shouting. I was shocked and worried that I would be on the receiving end of a Thai vendetta. At 5 am I checked out and took a taxi to Bkk Where I remained for the rest of my trip (the reception guy said that this was a good move).

Yes tight low slung jeans are sometimes a turn on but on the stage of a gay Gogo boys should wear very little. A few years ago Cupidol used to be known for twinks but that was not the case when I visited in February.

I visited several times during my February trip and whilst the number and attractiveness of the boys varied I enjoyed my visits and offed on two occasions. Perhaps some Thai boys return to Pattaya in the hope that things are returning to normal. If this is the case I fear that they will be quickly be disillusioned. As z909 points out a small number of gay expats will provide very limited Income opportunities. I’ve observed that expats on their occasional evening visits to bars tend to sit together without much interaction with the bar boys and in the main keep to fairly tight monetary budgets. This is in contrast with gay tourists who during their two or three week visits like to make every evening count by engaging companions to join then in bed without too much concern for cost. Unfortunately they are currently imprisoned in their home countries with plenty of cash but being unable to visit where they would like to spend it.

No the 130,000 does not include the flight as that would not be paid to a Thai business. You could add 25,000 for a standard return ticket uk - Bkk.. <<i don’t spend a great deal on hotels staying very often at the Zing resort or Ambiance.

Thailand and in particular Pattaya has already been deprived of a contribution to its economy by myself in the shape of my regular low season visit. A three week visit would cost me in the region of 130,000 baht dispensed to hotels, Asian boys, gay bars, presents for boyfriends, restaurants , transportation etc etc . When gay sex tourists like myself will be able to visit again if ever is impossible to predict. In the meantime I have to dream.

I should of added that when frequenting the Complex bars I would be accompanied by a boyfriend who would be “young” (18 to 25) rather than “younger”

Yes I use the term “older” not “old” to define myself. Yes I would love to frequent the Complex and join the older gays there if I could bloody well get there from here in semi locked down England.

Yes but it’s now more than five months since I returned from my February trip. 10 months without visiting gay thailand - how bad is that.

I hope the Cambodian boys are back in number when I arrive for my next trip. I’ve offed a number of them over the years and they are usually, keen to please. But when that trip will happen I do not know - maybe 2021

I would certainly echo that statement Boy69 with the slight amendment to 2001 - 2008. 2001 was when I discovered Thailand and made my first trip to Pattaya having up to then spent holidays in Playa des Anglais (Gran Canaria). Myself and a gay friend took a few days to hear about Sunee And locate it but when we did we took advantage of its vibrant scene of gogos, bars and of course the boys.

I’m getting close to writing year 2020 off. Indeed all foreign travel from U.K. seems impossible and not worth the potential hassle. My long term plan at the start of the year was 3 weeks in Thailand in January/February. The same in July/August and maybe a longer trip in November. I’m thankful I got the first one in providing me with a number of happy experiences. The lockdown started very soon after my return home.

Bar boys should be allocated an elite card. For us gay sex tourists they are essential workers

I watched a video on YouTube yesterday which consisted of a tour on motorbike of Pattaya post bar opening which featured BT and adjacent Sois. All the bars appeared to be closed and the producer commented that it looked like a ghost town with no people in evidence. Certainly the Ambiance terrace Was empty. It has been mentioned that there are Currently approximately 2500 farang expats in Pattaya Plus a few stranded tourists. The number of these who are gay or bisexual who would patronise gay bars will be not sufficient to support the previous scene. Thus I expect the bars in BT to remain closed until flights and tourism commence (who knows when ?). I myself feel deprived of my Regular trips to Pattaya with its Asian boys and gay scene.

I’ve spent 4 months in lockdown hardly spending any money. I would love to distribute my savings to worthy recipients [ie Asian boys and gay bars}. Unfortunately travel to Thailand from the U.K. seems completely impractical as the moment with quarantine requirements on arrival and also on return to U.K. , despite flights being available. I don’t understand why Thailand is still on the U.K. list for quarantine whereas many European destinations with far worse Covid records have been free. if somehow I did manage a trip setting a budget would be the last thing on my mind !

I’ve seen a video on YouTube showing boy bars in the Jomtien Complex open. No doubt a few gay expats will patronise but tourists like myself are waiting for the situation to become easier to warrant purchasing a flight. Maybe October/November ?.

Bars in Pattaya have always relied on Free spending tourists for the bulk of their business. Hence Pattaya as we knew it will not return until flights from Europe and North America resume. I can’t wait to make another visit but I fear that it will not be Possible or worth while until November/December or into 2021.

Noise is a passion killer for me when in bed with a boy. My ideal hotel is close to the action but far enough away to kill bar noise. All the Complex major hotels meet my specification.

I find there is often the temptation to bareback when waking up whilst in bed with a boy, rather than fiddling about with a condom, but I have resisted in recent years, Unlike when I first discovered Thailand and Pattaya 20 years ago when I used up my luck in this department, not contracting any infections, despite anal sex with a lot of boys.
