  1. I almost exclusively off long time and always fix this part in the venue but unfortunately several times I had the same problems with excuses to go early. I guess some promise LT afraid if they don't agree they don't get a deal but still I think it's very unfair, specially when I offed guy in the past and he knows what he is up to. Some excuses are outright idiotic - wrong parking of motorsai, perennial " my friend lost a key", need to move or visit in hospital etc. I don't fight with them over that and let them go usually cutting their tip accordingly but next time they try to extract tip, drink or an off I tell them bluntly no and why not. In short, I cross them from future engagements but of course few exceptions apply if I have soft spot for them. ............. I feel your pain. Some boys are possessive indeed. I have masseur in soi 6 whom I like quite a lot but because of this constant pestering he is kind of forcing me to the the same- to pick up alternative route to avoid passing by his shop and it's not good for the boy and the soi if walking ATM is bypassing whole section of it.
  2. not really, specially when you take their show into consideration, much more progressive than all other bars combined. And no, guys on the stage are not in jeans or even boxers.
  3. after visiting few years ago Bang Melea temple in early morning with me and two Chinese loads of buses present , I'm not surprised. Good that temple was already ruined, otherwise would not likely survive that attack. I'm not saying it was representative of how Chinese behave, far from it but still what I saw was bordering on scary. At least after giving up on ruins they were buying trinkets at local market.
  4. I think I like 38 the best
  5. waiting for your word abut last trip impatiently. Do they still have that desk and guard by elevator in Tarntawan where they check ID of visitors, even in day time?
  6. When I was planning my first and so far only Sept trip back in 2017 several members warned me ' pack your umbrella". It was not bad abut I needed it few times. I find twinks at Tawan very refreshing, at one visit I counted at least 5 and I must say I like them even if twinks are not really my territory. Is good to have a choice. For bar it's good idea as it broadens clients base. While I agree location of Quarter Silom is close to perfect, central yet bit hidden. I'm not big fan myself as I find rooms bit cramped for a price. But they are well appointed and organized and very modern so it may satisfy many. The same I can say about Icon Styles on Silom between Convent and soi 3
  7. not entirely speculation. last year in Mexico I was witness of discussion between American tourists who joined tour I joined too. I and some Americans bought it locally for about 60 $, other Americans bought it before they left through their travel office back in States and they paid almost twice. So half of their tour money never left USA presumably. From my travels I know that by no means this is unique situation, opposite, it's how it works. It's why guides are full of advices ' buy this or that tour / trek locally , do not prepay" . Chinese may be stingy in bars, massages or restaurants but since they like to show off, they may be shopping more hence, higher spending.
  8. no idea but one I use always is responded to very fast good that you guys managed before midnight because after midnight prohibition starts until 11 and then again between 2 and 5
  9. better than other way arround thank you for report, fun reading but I suspect also fun writing
  10. very good point !
  11. if he is true professional he should know without asking
  12. sometimes outright unpleasant on narrow side streets like sala Daeng, piles there attracts so many rats that it may be hard not to step on one. Better cross the street. But it's not tourist generated trash
  13. you not alone , I have also 70 and 80 baht notes. All of them are so called non-circulating legal tender commemorative notes
  14. my question exactly, obviously he did not strangle you if you live to tell the tale, Hope you have nice breakfast in the morning. I'm surprised for lack of response from Jey Spa, me experience with them is they respond almost immediately and I contacted them quite a few times, always very fast and up to the point. Perhaps regular guy had day off or something
  15. I guess North Korea , Somalia and Afghanistan don't have problems with noisy and messy tourists. Yes , tourists are binging mess and crowds but also money with them. It's enough just to look back to summer 2020 to see how world looks like without those messy hordes.
  16. let's see how it will work, hope we will be surprised
  17. no and neither I'm selfish, I always think about the others. What made you thinking I have myself in mind? poor, needy and senior? Me?
  18. more than once boys in both Bangkok and Pattaya told me that we shouldn't eat at least 2 hours before massage so it must be some reason for that. Sorry to hear you did not like Banana but you did right thing going, if we don't go we never know. You may want to give them another try next visit, old rule , one statistic sample is not enough to formulate hypothesis. As for Jupiter as I said in another post few days ago, yes it's discouraging looking at their disinterested look but this is mandated by managemnet, I heard it at least two times from different boys. When they sit down with you they are smiling all of the sudden. All my 3 or 4 post covid offs from there were good to very good and this comes from me who did not like that bar for many years, No I do and visit it at least once every trip. Getting long time mat be very hard but at least they tell you up front they are not interesting in or quote you prohibitive price like 6000 with the same effect.
  19. if that's the case consider distributing it among poor , needy seniors on this forum
  20. both
  21. Shortly we should have the same in Siem Reap.
  22. like all road transport in Bangkok there's danger to be stuck in traffic. And forget about all eye candy from the train
  23. but points are still valid
  24. I agree with 'grab and run' approach as well but everybody's circumstances are different. In countries with high level of taxation and substantial income from other sources it may make sense to delay pension until one stops working. Also there are countries which are clawing back portion of government pension if income level crosses certain threshold. So everybody needs to consider own circumstances in relation to laws and rules his own country.
