on another hand boys tips did not go up much, on my first trip back in 2001 I was instructed that long time tip is 2000 and probably still in BKK and certainly in Pattaya one may have overnight company for the same amount

I'm firmly in the bar camp for reason underlined and so eloquently explained by you above. Even better is to have a massage with prospective boy as it gives even more intimate time with him. But I fully understand firecat's reasoning that apps are cheaper and 7/24 proposition as well that boy picked up in the flesh may be as much disappointing as stranger showing at the door. I had massage there at 3 a.m. right after I arrived early in Dec 2016. Not much choice but boy on duty was good enough and contrary to what Nirish suspects actually provided quite a good massage. It seems a bot costly at 1700 for 1.5 hr course and later on I learned that only 30% ie. 510 out of that goes to boy, glad I tipped him another 1000. For first night though who would count money LOL If Tao will be there , ask for him, worth every penny IMNSHO

I know your pain, same same with me up to 1 week after return. Lag seems to be worse with age but for compensation those long flights seem to be easier to take , something for something I guess

Sometimes rip off is still blessing, once I was leaving BBB Inn for early morning departure in dead of the night during storm with lightnings and really heavy rain . Thankfully taxi appeared almost immediately and he quoted 600 which is twice the meter. I was sooooo happy to be skinned alive as walking from door to the curb was enough to get completely soaked. I thought , blessed are extortionists because they appear when needed. If he quoted 1000 I'd pay then and would be still smiling now

Welcome to the forum, Stay in Silom/Suriwong area to be close to bars and massages, pick up hotel you fancy on any booking site / agoda , booking.com etc / your choice depends on your budges but keep in mind Bangkok hotels are extremely good value for money. Sexy boys and good food is everywhere. make sure you visit Tawan and Jupiter bars and have a massage at Arena and Senso, all walking distance from each other. Do your homework and read some trip reports on the forum including most recent by numazu and ggobkk . Don't plan too much, just go, take half things and twice as much money Make sure you have fun

I can second what anddy says about Dr Smile, used them few times including one more serious issue and all worked well and compare to my home country standards very cheap ( 1/3 of price )
