  1. I think I've written about this in another post, but I would like both options - cash and cashless to be available. QR payments aren't available to foreign tourists (unless they have a Thai bank account), with the exception of some asian countries (Singapore and Malaysia I think) who have a reciprocal agreement. But if this wide widely available, I would use it to pay at restaurants, street food stalls, markets etc., but would tip boys in cash. I would say that credit card terminals are available at most bars - I paid with credit card at Dreamboys once on my final night when I was low on cash.
  2. I'll be there from 30 Nov
  3. Because I didn't want to deal with confrontation in that situation, I countered with 4000 which he accepted but it was still too much for what it was worth. I decided that paying this inflated price was a safe way of getting out of this situation without things escalating. Me too usually, but the mamasan just told me the tip rates of his own accord without me asking.
  4. Exactly what the papasan told me the one time I went to Jupiter, except back in the hotel room as boy was leaving, he said his rate was 5000 when I gave him 3000. Always check with the boy!
  5. Thanks for the replies. I'll have a think about whether or not to attend as it is a little pricey..
  6. What generally happens at these parties? Do you need to be attractive and fit to attend? I'm literally going to be staying at that exact hotel during the time that the party is on lol
  7. Thanks for your report, I enjoyed reading about your adventures! Looking forward to your future trip reports!
  8. I know that Dreamboys definitely has a Mandarin speaking mamasan as they do the announcements in Thai, English and Mandarin as I found out one night whilst listening closely.
  9. To be honest, and in my opinion, I wouldn't mind a little more cashless alternatives in Thailand. To be able to use the QR code payment system/PromptPay, one must have a Thai bank account, and there are too many hurdles to jump through to open one as a tourist in Thailand. I would like to see the QR code system modelled like China's Alipay/WeChatPay whereby you can link a foreign credit card to the app. This would save time in needing to go to ATMs or cash exchange places, or worrying about needing to change bigger bills into smaller ones. Of course, cash would still be necessary for tipping purposes, but for things like restaurants, street food stalls, check bin at a bar etc., I think a cashless payment alternative would be great. That being said, I have used a credit card in bigger department stores and I think restaurants too. Where I live, I hardly use my credit card as I can use ApplePay where I just need to hover my phone over the point of sale terminal. I don't think ApplePay is available in Thailand though.
  10. It will involve a bit of walking though.. are you sure?
  11. They have balconies. Small ones which they call 'standing room only' and also larger ones (more expensive).
  12. Can you choose to sit upstairs? Or is it only used when downstairs is full?
  13. Call me "woke" or whatever, but if someone said this to me in conversation, I would be instantly turned off.
  14. When Dreamboy was in that location, they made the pillar work. Anyway, whatever venue they are in (the current or the rumoured new), I will definitely still visit!
  15. Very expensive though
  16. 7 hours in an A321 doesn't sound particularly appealing. At least Thai Airways have started flying the PER-BKK route again.
  17. I will be there during the high season to contribute my support! Thanks for your reporting @vinapu, always enjoy hearing your adventures.
  18. A couple of faux pas on my behalf.. 1. I needed to travel from A to B, but for some reason I booked the flight from B to A. It was too late when I realised, so I had to forfeit that one, but luckily it was only a short domestic flight. 2. I was holidaying in multiple destinations, therefore multiple flights, so I put all of the departure/arrival information into a self-made itinerary (word document) so I could see it all clearly. The majority of the information was correct, however I accidentally entered the departure time, in this word document, from city A as the arrival time of city B. I only realised my mistake when I was on my way to the airport. oops. I ended up just extending my holiday. So yeah, I check everything very very carefully now.
  19. As I've mentioned in the past, I will very gladly take all tattooed boys!
  20. I can only speak for Kman, but I went there once without a prior booking and the manager showed me who was available (and on the premises) on the tablet. I lucked out because the boy I chose gave me a great time.
  21. Yes! I did this a few years ago, walked from boyztown to jomtien and then later back again. I remember it being quite hot and sweating out of every orifice imaginable. Haven't done it again since, but haven't really thought about it. Maybe next time!
  22. Oh no.. now you've put this idea in my head for my next trip 😅
  23. +1
  24. That's right, I remember that now. I remember going to the main shop and the lady at the front asked if I want a boy massage and when I said yes I was told to go down the small alley to the side where the other shop was. Seems like the 'main shop' is now a barber (google map street view).
