  1. Not sure about the rest of you, but i have noticed that the pricing for accommodation in Bkk/Silom and Phuket/Patong has definitely gone up by significantly more than 15% since 2023?
  2. @Londoner if you are on Facebook, suggest that you join and post on the Pattaya Expats Club group there. There are lots of active brokers/agents on that board who will provide you with a quick turnaround of quotes Robert Jackson in particular is one i often see being praised in comments
  3. Some of us are very jealous (myself included) as we have none left to cut or dye! Nor am i, but in the US and elsewhere they use a clamp and cut around the penis in a circular motion, leaving that scar all around the glans in the Pinoy version they slice along the top of the foreskin, poke the glans out and leave the skin dangling Links below not for the faint hearted! Western version: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumcision Pinoyversion: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorsal_slit Yes turkey gobble is the exact term i was trying to think of (my Irish friend uses it) and its due to the excess skin I have noticed that a lot of the younger Pinoy guys on twitter have a cleaner cut, i assume that this is because it has been done by a medical professional and not the village witch doctor like in bygone times. This clip below is def NOT for the faint hearted! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jkCFxFPP0M Sounds to me like Mactan Newtown is definitely not the best place for a regular gay sex tourist to stay so!
  4. i stumbled across this thread last night and binged on it, thanks for all the efforts @bkkmfj2648, its a pity that most posters will miss out on this extended TR with it being buried on the Philippines forum. Perhaps ts worth creating a cross post on the Thailand forum to help readers find this gem. Some initial thoughts: 3 hair cuts in 35 days, your hair must grow crazy fast! That botched (from a western perspective) Pinoy circumcision has always put me off their cocks. Traditionally they don't remove the skin and instead perform a dorsal slit, a single incision along the upper length of the foreskin from the tip to the corona, exposing the glans without removing any tissue. I notice that your body count went from an average of 1 a day to an average of 0 a day when you were in Mactan Newtown. Why do you think that was? was it distance from the mainland, lack of quality available? And if so would this factor into a decision to live in Mactan Newtown?

    Seasons?

My observations for the gay scene : Early December to Mid Feb=> High Season, this takes in Christmas and both Western and Chinese New Year After that things quieten down but have a decent bump at Easter and Songkran in mid April Small Bump in tourist numbers in July and August due to European summer holidays, noticeably more so first 2 weeks of august Small bumps in tourist numbers at Loy Kratong, Fireworks festival,White Parties, the various gay prides etc. Looking at Pattaya in general over the last few years, there is only really a low season on the gay scene, elsewhere there is a High and Mid Season. The numbers of people travelling, shopping in malls, occupying restaurants, songtaews and hotels are pretty constant outside High Season.
  7. There are 2 other karaokes (Jacky and another I have never visited )around the same crossroads as diamond. It's funny to see all the boys spill out and mix after the bars close around 6am Co-incidentally, Boyfriend is on the opposite side of third road to diamond and a 3-4 min walk away and FC is also a 5 mins walk away. It's almost a mini gay4pay ghetto!
  8. I forgot to mention that the twins from the original B-Boys that used to grace the Pattaya bar scene and also appeared on Thailand's got talent also work there as DJ and MCs some nights. They are not in this clip, but it gives a good idea of what a good night might be! AQNawxpp_mGLVVAuLj65xzJA9ii8joiM8Wnxhk0BbuZ32nKP8aWf9kwDT15pMgQKGxfDwlaF4NOczd52tr4ShCxF.mp4
  9. I've spent countless nights exploring the karaoke bars of Pattaya—Diamond, Friendly, Jacky, FC, Version, you name it. But none of them compare to the nights I spent in Boyfriend Karaoke last month. In most of the other bars (except Jacky, which attracts a lot of gay clients), the boys’ attitudes range from friendly to lukewarm to downright indifferent towards the Farang at the table. Boyfriend, however, is in a league of its own. It's as if the boys have been trained to offer the perfect boyfriend experience. Clean-cut and dressed in cute uniforms that change daily (sometimes they are shirtless) the boys are friendly and engaging. When you call one of their 40+ boys down from the floor, they greet you with a friendly smile, an arm around your shoulder, and maybe even a peck on the cheek. As the night goes on, they become increasingly affectionate, with the peck on the cheek evolving into proper kissing and touching—all initiated by them. I visited Boyfriend five times last month, each time with a group of 4-5 Thai/Cambodian friends. Every single one of them fell head over heels for their boy of the hour! Even my BF jokingly complained about being "assaulted" one night after an especially amorous encounter. Another friend complained about being pounced upon in the toilet, the attack can't have been that traumatic as 30 mins later they were both sitting arm in arm together! As always with these places its best to bring a few friends, but best to not invite @Vessey cos he will monopolize all the boys! To preempt some questions: Can the boys be offed? I believe that the off cost is 1000b, but the boys don't have to go if they don't want to Is it expensive? Its not cheap, 1000-2000 per bottle of whiskey and then 250b per boy drink per hour, so its quite easy to rack up a 6k bill in a few hours, so perhaps it is a good idea to bring a Farang friend to split the costs. How do i call a boy? Every hour the boys go on the floor and a sort of mini auction takes place. if you like a boy you offer 1 or 2 drinks (250b or 500b, of which the boy gets 100/200b). If someone else likes the same guy they might try to outbid you. So you have to decide whether to keep bidding or find another. After ~15 mins the auction ends and hosting starts. The boy stays at your table for ~50 mins before returning to the stage for the next round of auctions What time is best to go? best between 1am and 5am. At 6am they hunt you outside and you can see the boys in their natural habitat as they prepare to go to Jomtien soi 12 Are the boys gay? Most the guys that i spoke to claim to be straight, yet all that french kissing and hands down pants seems to indicate otherwise, i have seen some of them on Grindr Do I tip the boy? yes same as you would tip someone that joined you in a gogo bar Is it sleazy? No, if you want sleazy, go to Diamond... Its the Sunee Plaza of Karaokes! Top Tip: if you are taking bar boys with you, be sure to set the ground rules. e.g. "I will pay for the drink, but not your boys." or "you may call one boy down each for 1 drink each hour", otherwise you might end up in debt by the end of the night! Some pics from their Instagram:
  10. Prior to smart phones and when i was young and handsome BF and I used to both come home from DJ station, Hollywood or X-Zyte disco in Pattaya with pockets full of phone numbers. Unfortunately most were written on those tiny pink napkins, were mostly illegible and we couldn't remember which napkins belonged to the cute guy! Is that a euphemism for being easy? 🤣 But yes i agree that Line or Facebook are definitely the preferred methods for communications these days, some guys may not even have a dialing plan on their phones and have data only. Last month i spent considerable time (and money) in Boyfriend karaoke in Pattaya... (Highly recommended but that's for another thread!) All but one of the boys there made sure to exchange Line as part of the SOPs - the other one shared FB.
  11. Don't forget the plane ✈️and injection 💉 emoji also A Cambodian friend of mine that worked JC died before Christmas from an overdose after injecting crystal meth
  12. Sorry i cant help with the name of a lawyer, but my understanding is that unless you are selling up everything in the UK and moving your assets lock stock and barrel to Thailand, then you need to have both a UK and a Thai will to cover both jurisdictions https://www.expatlegalwills.com/blog/writing-last-will-and-testament-live-outside-uk/#:~:text=In essence%2C you need a,admissible to courts in Thailand.
  13. i assume there was at least a (clean) fitted sheet?
  14. The jungle drums are beating well in advance of your returns! They are like the worst kept secret in Pattaya, even the cleaning room attendants know of your arrival and wait like Downton abbey outside your accommodation!
  15. I would have thought 500b would have been more appropriate if you wanted him to make contact, you have to grease his palms, make what my BF calls a "landmark" and make him greedy for more. After all he's a moonlight boy, not a Soi Sunee boy!
  16. On my trip last month, my BF overheard an entourage boy of a big spending farang try to encourage one of the the TB mamasan/waiters to pad the bill and they could split the difference Mamasan was quite clear in telling the boy to "get f*cked" and said that if the farang wants to tip, he will tip
  17. A lot of the bars in BT have an arrangement with the serene hotel for ST rooms. Toy Boys even has an anti "walk of shame" route that you can utilize by going out through the alleyway out the back of their boys dressing room
  18. yes but i was with my (allegedly savvy 40+) Thai BF at the time, so didn't expect the driver to also try it on and almost succeeed with him!
  19. Was just going to say that, last week one of their Viet boys was trying to persuade me that he was fully versatile and could prove it if i wanted to visit the Pavilion Hotel with him!
  20. Thanks all for your input here, and glad to hear that this practice is not widespread or starting to proliferate! Possibly, but it happened on 3 different occasions and there were different people involved in the third Perhaps i need to be more clear about the 'drinks only' basis going forward.... lets see at songkran!
  21. Arrived into BKK 10 days ago and the driver pulled out his calculator as soon as BF and I settled into the (very nice Chinese brand) sedan. We insisted on using the meter but he refused so we made to get out of the car, he then agreed to use the meter but told BF that he would be charging an extra 50b because of my suitcase. As we got near to silom, heading for the Raya, I believe that he deliberately took a detour to ensure that we were stuck in traffic at one set of lights near Chong Nonsi to ensure that the meter was run up to what he was looking to earn (it cost 550b - and we had paid tolls)
  22. Stay in the D'Varee hotel and you can pop in and out of Jomtien Soi 12 beach area at will over the course of the night. I know of 2 boys that encouraged their customer//boyfriend to stay in the D'Varee.... of course with the intention of being able to sneak out and join the party once the farang is KO! Pizza company has now moved to 24 hours (they used to close at 2am) for those who get the munchies after their nam tom (Kratom Tea)
  23. Agreed, and that is what my BF told the guy that joined up with us, fell asleep at the table and had to be carried home, but next day had the temerity to tell our mutual friend to ask me where his tip was!
  24. Just back from 3.5 weeks in LOS (Pattaya, Phuket, and Bangkok). During this trip, I noticed that the concept of appearance fees (aka tips for entertainment) seems to have become a requirement. What do I mean by this? In the past, I would often take a boy or two from a bar to a club, karaoke, morlam, etc., without ending up in the bedroom. The boys would be compensated for their time (e.g., 1000 baht) and go home happy. Often, I would also ask if they wanted to invite some friends to join us after work, or they might invite friends anyway if we already knew each other. The joiners or uninvited tag-along guests usually received 1-200 baht to cover food and transport at the end of the night, and of course, all their drinks and food were paid for throughout the evening. On my most recent trip, there were a few occasions where the joiners demanded a "tip for entertainment" at the end of the night or simply asked upfront, "How much will the farang pay if we join?" This is a new and unwelcome phenomenon for me. For the last 20+ years, when I have been going out, the boys were just happy to have a sponsor to pay for the night out and join as friends, rather than as a paid entourage. I'm curious if others have come across this behavior recently?
  25. 1. Is my outline understanding correct? Yes 2. Is there a time limit for the customer's return? (Presumably, if there is, then after the time limit, the bar would either dispose of the bottle or use the remaining liquid in the bottle for their own house pour). Depends on the bar but its usually something between 10-30 days, after which it gets consumed by the bar (or siphoned by the barman) 3. Is there any charge for the customer who returns and asks for this bottle. Does the customer get to return as many times as he likes (within time limit, if any) for free (i.e. no entry charge) if he has a bottle waiting for him on the shelf? No charge to re-call your bottle, but there may be a charge for mixers and ice. Some bars include all mixers + ice until the bottle is finished on multiple occasion. Others charge on a return visit 4. Presumably, each visit the customer is likely to order mixers. What sort of prices do the bars charge for mixers and any charge for ice, etc? (A single-drink customer would have to pay 400 -500 baht for a can of Tonic, Soda or Coca Cola. If a bottle customer asked for a similar can as mixer, is he charged at a different rate? As above, some bars include all mixers + ice until the bottle is finished on multiple occasion. Others charge on a return visit. Last week, Goodboys were charging 100b per mixer on a subsequent visit 5. If the customer calls a boy to sit with him, and offers the boy a drink served out of the same bottle, does the bar charge nothing? (for customers who order single drinks, the bar would charge a boy drink and earn money from that; the boy also gets maybe 50 or 100 baht from the boy drink). Again depends on the bar, i have drank in Fresh boys, Jupiter and Good boys in the past where the boys drank for free. Last week, Good boys wanted 400b for a boy to join the table (boy gets 200b from that). The boy got a "boy drink" and once that drink was finished could choose to stay and drink for free (with prospective tip or off), try to extract another boy drink or go back on the floor 6. Can a boy refuse a drink out of the bottle, e.g. saying "I don't drink alcohol." What usually happens then? Again depends on the bar, the boy can choose a boy drink or can drink coke from the mixers of they don't drink alcohol 7. Do mamasans help themselves freely to the bottle? Or must they first be explicitly invited by the customer to partake? (I have seen mamasans - sometimes two of them - drink considerably from bottles and I have often wondered what the understanding between customer and mamasan was, or was the mamasan helping herself liberally in order to exhaust the bottle as soon as possible, it being her job to help the bar sell more bottles/drinks?). Usually mamasans and waiters drink by invitation and don't qualify for mandatory "boy drinks", of course familiarity breeds contempt! They also try and convince you how much they like 400b tequila shots! Per comments above, buying a bottle at e.g. 2500b exempts you from "admission fees" so if there are 3-4 people in your group, and all can drink the same beverage, it is definitely the most economical way to go if you intend to stay for more than 1 drink
