September 22, 2025Sep 22 I am returning to Bangkok next month, for as long time I have stayed at the Raya which I find excellent, however I noticed the Ibis Styles has a pool, (a Gym handy for some of my guests...) and some rooms with balconies which appeal to me. Has anyone any idea what they are like with bring in a guest, do they have to register etc which I find a bit uncomfortable or is it no issue? Any guidance from previous experience mega welcome?
September 22, 2025Sep 22 No need to register guests. You can take them up to room and they leave on their own after. I have stayed at Ibis Styles twice this year in May and July.
September 22, 2025Sep 22 I've had no issue bringing guests back to my room when I stayed at Ibis Styles. Just walk with your gentleman of the evening through the entrance, past the reception desks and straight to the lifts.

I also confirm no issues whatsoever with guest there, even with farang friend who just wanted to see the room. as for balconies don't expect too much in that department
September 22, 2025Sep 22 I stayed in Ibis Styles Silom a few times. Never had any problems bringing guests back to my room. By the way, are there any hotels in Bangkok that make problem from taking guest to your room? Don't aacthally think so... Lol As many modern hotels, you need a key card to use the elevator. So you will need to bring your boys from the bar or get them from the lobby downstairs if you get a internet / app hook up.

If anyone is in Bangkok October 16-24 and interested in meeting...for a drink, meal, or club...let me know.

September 24, 2025Sep 24 Author Thanks Guys, I have cancelled the Raya and rebooked at the Ibis for my visit next month, will let you know how it goes. Aware most hotels are fine now, but about 22 years ago - first time I visited I naively (or Stupidly!) stayed at the Holiday Inn Silom Road, as fair bit out of the main Silom bar area. Whilst I paid for a double room every time I went back with "company" it was like a game to try and discreetly get to the lifts without security nicely advising me "are ....you bring a guest back tonight..." and marching me to reception to pay from memory about 800 THB, got away without sometimes but it was more the embarrassment for me back then, especially not being experienced with Thailand! Second visit moved to Tarntawan Place for countless subsequent trips and for about the last dozen or so times the Raya, both are which are excellent but think now time for a change😀!

I agree change is good as if we don't try , how we know what we like but for me Raya is preferable to IBIS 7 times out of 6 if not 5.

Good to know. I did book my room at Ibis for two people, but will obviously be checking in alone. On my previous visits to Thailand I have always been staying with my straight friends or they have made arrangements for me in a condo (Airbnb). This will be my first time actually booking a room in a hotel and exploring on my own.

Yes, you can ask them when you first meet them. If they don't speak English, they will use phone to translate. One very popular Vietnamese guy at Freshboys doesn't speak English at all even though he has worked in Bangkok for 2 years. He is very popular and customers even meet him for dinner outside of bar hours!
September 25, 2025Sep 25 Be aware, the rooms in the Ibis are probably half the size of Raya rooms. Can get quite crowded when there is more than one of you trying to live in it!
