  1. The Chinese characters translate exactly into "Lucky Hotel." I asked A Chinese speaker why you thought it said Lucky Bar and he did not have any idea. He is sure it says Lucky Hotel, and why wouldn't it? It's translated right there for you! Yes, I am internationally famous, just not internationally lucky!
  2. sexycouple, welcome to the forums. Stick around! We have some sexy guys, but a sexycouple would be a nice addition!
  3. I Googled this topic, and found many articles supporting the idea that in Latino cultures, being a top in anal sex does not make you a homosexual. It's a widespread belief. And so in Iran: In Iran, same-sex sexual behavior is classified rigidly into active and passive roles. The Arabic terms “fa’el” and “maf’oul” (active and passive – actually grammatical terms used to describe active and passive verbs) were the common designation for these roles. The passive partner is still called by the Arabic term “obneh,” or, more crudely, “kuni.” (Kun means anus.) The active vs. passive same-sex preference is well known in the Western world, but it is constructed quite differently in Iran and other Arab and Mediterranean cultures. Active partners in Iran do not consider themselves to be “homosexual.” Indeed, it is a kind of macho boast in some circles that one has been an active partner with another male. Passive partners are denigrated and carry a life-long stigma if their sexual role is known, even after a single incident. They have been deflowered, as it were, in the same way that women might lose their virginity, and they are considered to be "xarob" or "destroyed." In actual fact, many men are "versatile" in their sexual activity but if they are known to have relations with other men, they will always claim in public to be the active partner. Same-sex relations between females are undoubtedly practiced, but this is the deepest secret in Iran, and rarely talked about at all. Iran Active (And,of course, this sounds very much like the description that Tomcal provides of sauna men in Brazil.)

  6. The "link" that Gawker provides to the story does not lead anywhere. Don't forget, Obama had a mortgage reduction program too, but it was a big bust and helped very few people.

  8. Headline in today's nydailynews.com: 500,000 city kids in families that can’t afford food, up 37% from 2008 People are jobless for so long their savings and benefits have run out Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/500-000-city-kids-families-t-afford-food-37-2008-article-1.986622#ixzz1fbzpR3vs
  9. This boy has a bright future in front of a camera. Maybe he did his nails himself, you know. I didn't notice them though.
  10. It gets worse. It's not Billions, it is Trillions! Hard investigative work by the Bloomberg Financial News discovered that the Fed lent 7.7 trillion dollars to banks during the financial crisis. This money was lent at an interest rate of .5%. The banks then mostly turned around and bought treasury notes at 3% to them. Thus they made billions from the money the Fed lent them. Essentially, gave them. Yet consumers find no bargains from the banks. Sure, the fee to use debit cards went down, but banks own Congress. The Frank-Dodd bill to reform banking rules is being drafted by the banks, or certainly their lobbyists are influencing it greatly. The average citizen is hard pressed to get a mortgage, but the banks get tons of money from the Fed. It's a disgrace, proving why we need protests, more and more of them. Occupy Wall Street until the whole damn city is taken by protests.

  12. I agree that it is powerful and tells a common story that is a shame to be so prominent in our society. But am I so cynical as to so wonder if the kid is an actor performing a role? Would the story be so powerful if told by a really nerdy guy who was not at all cute? Well, yes, I guess it would. OKAY! Before I posted this, I decided to do a little more research, and my cynicism was dealt with just today (Watch the other video first!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7HkOaLFzGw

  15. He's Cambodian and Thai, according to a piece on him in Asian Fusion magazine, which is where I found this picture. I have every expectation that he is not straight, despite the photo. And, the magazine article: Inside Timmy's Magazine Article
