Pre-pandemic we stayed at the W. It's very nice and the buffet breakfast was superb.

I am also booking directly for my Thailand trip in January. I like to stay in different hotels and get a different experience. So far, I have booked two hotels, with two to go.

I did book this hotel for my last weekend. The price was lower as they are doing maintenance. But still expensive.

I looked into booking the Le Meridien for the first week of January. It's $300 US a night including breakfast. Yet when I used the Marriott website to book it, they responded that I needed to choose another guarantee method. I have no idea what they are talking about.

The novel, Bangkok 8, is well worth reading for Thailand fans. John Burdett wrote it.

I guess what the bill should be. If it is close to that, I just pay it without further inquiry.

The dollar is up to 36 baht value, so the rates are slightly more affordable than they were just last week. If you have dollars, that is!

Last weekend in SP was marginal, but I am now having a great time in Rio. 117 tonight was superb.

At tripadvisor.com, the Dandy Daan rates higher than the Courtyard, and many comment on the good breakfast. Still contemplating this one.

I still have a photo of me with my arm around Lukas Ridgeston when he appeared in NYC. And I won't forget flying with him and Johann from NYC to SF on a red eye. We all slept! (sort of togther! Just different rows!)

Is Ambiance Hotel still okay as a place to stay? I used to like it and stayed there several times. As for the old beach, there was once a pedophile section. I only realized this as I was walking by and a young boy was on the lap of an old man asking him if he wanted to fuck. You don't see that anymore, which is a good thing!

Just so I am clear, I understand a not guilty verdict. The jury decided that the evidence to convict Spacey could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. That doesn't mean they think Spacey didn't do it, it just wasn't proven. I have no idea what they think, but Spacey being acquitted is not Spacey being cleared.

A finding of 'not guilty," desirable as it may be, is not a finding of innocence.

I loved the Millenium Hilton hotel on the Chao Praya river in Bangkok. Maybe a few nights there enjoying the river and its surroundings would be a good diversion. I could watch the boat traffic for hours.

The Dandy Daan doesn't do a great breakfast? Hmm. That's the heart of my day foodwise when traveling in Asia as I am a midwestern guy.

Forgot to mention that I have been to Ayutthaya...as well as River Kwai. Hua Hin sounds promising...
