I pay for comfort, good food, and convenience. I've stayed at the cheaper hotels, including the Raya, and gladly leave them to those who like their prices.

The NY Eve Party is sold out. But I would have gone had it been available. Looks spectacular.

The Gay Pride Parade is on June 22d. I tried to book the Renaissance Hotel, but it is already sold out. Looking at other Sao Paolo Marriotts, they are all sold out! Already! UPDATE: So I went to Capital One's Travel section and the Renaissance was there for $231 a night. I was going to book it, but I had to pay right now, even though it is a cancellable reservation. Should I book it just to be sure? They were going to let me use my $300 travel credit toward it, but not my points. Hmm. I'm not even sure I would go, but the thought of so many hot Brasilian guys in one place, mostly shirtless, is quite appealing. The reservation would be for June. The $300 credit expires in March, so I cancel after March I assume I lose the $300.

I stayed their last year and my room was fine. This year the room was so bad that we only stayed one night. Be careful, they advertise it as a "prime" room.
