  1. Why wasn't I told about this when I was on holiday in Palma de Mallorca in August? BTW as I understand the legal situation in Spain, prostitution remains illegal but socially tolerated. There are classified ads in the newspapers by female and male sex-workers. Brothels exist in the major cities in Spain and are left undisturbed provided they do not cause problems for their neighbours in residential areas.
  2. "Barcelona: Going rate is $40 Euros.($50. U.S.) but guys were willing(and did) overnights for $60 euros" Thank you for the interesting update. I've been often but not paid for it in Barcelona as guys have been readily available for free. Certainly it seems as if the very weak economy in Spain has led to many more guys working and realistically low prices being asked "Prague: within 5 mins of arriving at the bars several bel ami guys were at Monty's bar working, and there were alot of guys walking around between the bars" I don't know Prague at all. What sort of time do the bars get busy, and when did you get there? If you recognised some Bel Ami guys, can you mention their 'stage' names here please, and were their 'going' rates in line with the general asking prices locally?
  3. I agree with StuCotts. I live in the UK and use the National Health Service. But I also have a private physician, simply for greater choice. Just under 10% of the UK population has private medical insurance, but the percentage hasn't varied for many years. FWIW my elderly mother was ill at the weekend while we were in the countryside. The response from the NHS was rapid: 2 paramedics arrived in their vehicle quickly and less than 10 minutes later, the ambulance with 2 other technicians arrived. She had various tests before she was allowed home. All at no cost to me or her.

  5. I thought I'd start a separate thread after I read Conway's post of August 23 in the thread on The Other Site's Finance: "Honestly, one thing that I am seeing is that many high quality escorts don't want reviews, even positive ones, posted about them. Many have a good book of regulars that they see and they don't want the headache of having to deal with the attention from the masses (the sometimes indecisive masses)that a very good review brings. I had a great experience with a really delightful escort who has been reviewed well, but in a very limited way both here and on Daddy's site. When I asked if he'd like a review, he declined stating that he liked the current arrangement that he had with a few generous clients and didn't want to grow beyond that market. One would think that the current economy would be driving more and more hot young guys to consider escorting as a way of supporting themselves. From my view, it doesn't seem to be happening." Here are my observations: 1. I live in London but my experience is very similar. I've dated some very goodlooking muscled young guys in the last couple of years. Yet when I offered to write a glowing (but accurate) review and potentially boosting their business, they have all declined. 2. The net makes it easy for guys to do this work and supplement their income but few see it as a 'job'. The result is that often they are flaky when it comes to making and keeping arrangements. For evidence, I can tell you about two guys. Both are extremely unreliable but when I get them into bed, they do all they can to please me. One is a 25year old blond musclegod/total-bottom I see every 2 or 3 months; he's only online for an hour or so every 10-12 days. When he needs to make some cash, he texts me and asks if I'd like a date. I'm one of 3 or 4 'regulars' that help him finance his studies. The second guy is a gym-trainer who lives with his girlfriend; he defines himself as 'straight/bi'. I've been seeing him for about 5 years now, and he messages me every few months when he has an 'urge'. The urge in his case is twofold: to get his butt pumped, and for me to finish by giving him a mouthful of hot cum to swallow. He requests a modest amount of cash. 3. This economic crisis or recession has certainly brought more new guys to 'work' this year. Many advertise on Craigslist and ask £70-80 ($120-140) for a session, while the more professional guys on the main sites advertise from £100-150 ($165-250). Once I enquire about their services, and they've checked into what I like to do (and I often supply a photo so they know I'm a fit but middle-aged guy), they often instantly offer a date at £100 ($165). I don't have to bargain or negotiate. Such is the competition in the London marketplace. 4. There are lots of new guys working. Some are English, lots are Brazilian and a few are East European. This is a generalisation but in my direct experience it's true: the English, by-and-large, are sensible about pricing and polite; the East Europeans are sensible too and most interested in finding 'regulars' to support them; and the Brazilians display 'attitude', feel a high price reflects their status, see themselves as 'male beauties' and show little interest in developing a regular clientele.
  6. Thank you very much for the extra info. Do you by any chance know how to contact him outside of the sauna?
  7. Now that's what I call a swift response! Thank you. Would you describe him as affectionate and happily versatile in bed? And may I ask what he normally charges for an overnight stay?
  8. Tomcal, May I ask about the guy in pic 4? I believe he's called Leandro/Rafael. He's just my type and I'm interested in an extended hiring for a vacation. I wonder if he's versatile/bottom. Does he still work at 117 and do you know what nights? Better yet, if you have an email address or other contact details for him, I'd appreciate any information please ML
  9. You may want to check what is offered by your credit card company or, if you have status as a frequent flier, your international airline. I have an annual travel policy that applies worldwide and provides excellent coverage (with high limits) through my American Express card. It's a VERY reasonable cost but then I travel extensively. I've had the AmEx policy for some years but previously I had a very similar policy through British Airways. Both were excellent when I had cause to claim, provided great medical attention and reimbursed me promptly.
  10. I'd appreciate some help please I've been to Rio once before, in November and the weather was great (warm, sunny and only 1 cloudy day). I stayed in Ipanema and I didn't hire any guys as I was with my (now ex-)boyfriend, a blond muscled Argentine. We stayed in an executive room at the Ipanema Plaza, and I liked the hotel and area. I insisted we visit Copacabana but I felt it was dirty and shabby, as the bf had warned me. I speak both Spanish and French well, and he spoke some Portuguese, but we still had language difficulties at times. And I never figured out the taxis - some with their lights on had passengers in back; some with their lights off stopped to pick us up LOL Qu 1: I'm thinking of visiting Rio in September/October and doing some hiring. I've checked the weather stats, but I wonder what experienced guys think of a trip then? Qu 2: if I sign in a working guy as an overnight visitor, would the Ipanema Plaza be OK? Qu 3: what sort of daily or weekly rates do guides (such as Danilo/Wellington) charge? do they sleep in the same room? and are they OK if I hire a guy? Qu 4: how much of a "step-down" in quality would I find the Hotel Atlantico? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer
  11. I thought candy was more about oral gratification - just a tongue-in-cheek comment And more seriously, I feel that boys with bodies like his should be made to do good, hard work
  12. They do have saunas, but not as in Brazil. Saunas attract locals who are married, or closeted, or who find them convenient. I guess it's possible that you may find working guys in a sauna but it's not common. The two main ones are A Full and Tom's. Both charge an entry fee which would deter poorer "street" guys. There is also a bar, Zoom, which has sex-on-premises facilities. Working guys do call into Zoom. Sex work is legal in Argentina, though profiting from it is not. Escorts therefore tend to advertise on the main websites and are reached by phone. Escort rates are much higher in Buenos Aires than the rates charged in the saunas of Brazil.
  13. I've just returned from my 9th holiday in Buenos Aires in the last 5 years. I still like the city, culture, nightlife, restaurants and men here very much. I've observed certain changes this time that I'd like to mention 1. Crime is much more worrisome. Previously pickpocketing and robberies occurred in certain areas; now it's more widespread and there is often violence (which was previously very rare). Young and old locals commented on the 'crime wave' to me. And I know a young guy who was robbed at gunpoint around 11pm - he's local and had no valuables on display. 2. The economy is declining and inflation is high. Many things, such as coffee in a cafe, fruit and clothes cost more than in central London or New York. 3. Many local guys are keen to meet foreign tourists. There is an obvious economic need, which means that you pick up a dinner or lunch bill for him and/or offer a small 'gift'. I found both Manhunt and Gaydar to be useful; Craigslist is not used. There's not much reason to hire one of the many 'working' guys on the 2 main websites, unless you want to do so for convenience. If anyone wants more details, let me know and I'll try to answer.
  14. He has a very Aussie look - fit body, slightly scruffy, not uber-groomed - and from the last photo, he does seem to wield a big sword nicely
  15. So far this year: Australia and Spain. Later in 2009, I've made plans to visit Cape Town South Africa (February), Sydney Australia (March), Buenos Aires Argentina and possibly Uruguay (March), San Francisco CA (May), Santa Monica CA (June) and Mallorca Spain (June) Now I just have to find somewhere to go in the second half of the year
  16. The website is Brazilian, and so this works: www.lojavidebula.com.br
  17. Sounds like this guy could raise the dead so what is the name of the guy, please? And if you have more details, that would be great. I did check the reviews filed under Tampa, but there is no uber-hot bottom reviewed that I can find
  18. By a long way, the most popular site for escorts in the UK is gaydar. Currently they carry over 500 escort adverts. Membership is rather cheap at only $10 per month, but if you only take out a free membership, remember that the number of messages you can send and receive are strictly limited. So be sure to include your email or phone number in the first message or you may not get a reply. Once you log onto gaydar, check under "Commercial" and choose either Search or Who's Online. If you choose Search, bear in mind that escorts will be listed under 2 main areas: London - Central, and London - General. Some of the escorts listed also advertise on Rentboy. You will notice that on Rentboy, they generally charge a higher rate: this has been explained to me variously as "American businessmen use Rentboy" and "Rentboy charges more for the advert than Gaydar" ML
  19. I've no argument with this posting but, based on my experience of having stayed at the Axel Hotel in Barcelona many times and having visited Buenos Aires 8 times in the last 3 years, I'd bring 4 points to your attention 1. the rooms as described above seem very similar to the rooms in Barcelona - chic but not luxurious 2. all hotels in Buenos Aires are gay-friendly and as sex-work is legal, visitors to a room are permitted after showing their ID at reception; even the "love-hotels" that rent rooms by the hour are gay-friendly - I guess this is partly because of the influx of gay tourists and partly because there is a non-discrimination law in Buenos Aires province 3. San Telmo, where the Axel Hotel is located, is a picturesque but mixed area of Buenos Aires. I have been to restaurants there for lunch and dinner and, like every other tourist, I've visited the Sunday antiques market. Locals have however warned me to be alert to pickpockets in the busy main streets and to muggings in the darker, narrow side-streets 4. The price of the rooms in San Telmo (mentioned above) is about double what you would pay for a room in a good hotel in Recoleta, the smartest area. Please note that there is also a tax of 21% due on top of the stated room-rates.
  20. Fot just over 2 years, I've been seeing a straight trainer (fit body, nice looking) who also lives with his girlfriend. He knew I was gay from the outset and I always talked about my life to him; one evening he was intrigued enough to come round to my place. At first, he was a reluctant kisser but from the start, he loved to suck cock, get fucked and to swallow my load. So now, he lets me know when he wants to come round and we have a very pleasant session. Oddest time tho was when a client dropped a weight on his foot and he had to go into hospital, and his girlfriend contacted me to let me know he couldn't make our "date"! Isn't human diversity wonderful?
  21. I'm very much enjoying your reports posted here. I have three questions and I'd appreciate any input. I've only visited Rio once, and that was 2 years ago with my then boyfriend and we stayed in Ipanema. I thought then that Copacabana was rather shabby compared to Ipanema and Leblon. I'm planning a visit soon as a single man and I'll be looking for company. I speak several languages but not Portuguese. Would you recommend I stay in Copacabana, and would you recommend your hotel? Is there a good personal guide to Rio (I've read here about Danilo from Sao Paulo)? And as a dedicated gym-goer, I like a gym that's well-equipped and if hot and friendly guys go there, so much the better. What gyms in Rio would you recommend? My email is msclelovr@aol.com if you prefer to write privately. Thanks in advance.
