When they ask us to pay 150 is because they know that we are the usual "stupid gringos" and that since we are unaware of the going rate, we will pay just because of it's still cheap (which is true). They try to get the most out of us. That's why they will still go for 100 or even 70. And that's why most of them will never ask you anymore for 150, since they talk to each other and they don't want to piss you out. They are smart... Even if sometimes they forget that commenting the tips they receive at a high voice, thinking that your Portuguese is so bad... While I do have no problems to pay 1000 reais in Europe for an hour with a Brazilian escort, I don't like to get "scammed" in Brazil just because I am a tourist. If I wanna pay more, I will tip you...no reason to inflate the price for me. Same reason why you do not want and like taxi drivers to charge you 400 reais a ride to Copacabana from GIG, just because it would still be cheaper than NYC or Rome. I can tell you that until last Wednesday, there was a paper inside the locker room stating that the sauna was open all the days until 24h except on tuesdays (closed). That's why I have never considered the idea of going on Tuesday (I would not go in any case). I don't know if this has changed. From the FB page I can see that probably the Tuesdays have been resumed the 14th of November. I do not have information about the quality of that day, which is in direct competition with the best day of the week at 117.

Hello again...after my November trip to Rio (which is the fourth and last for this year) I can tell you my opinion about the best and worst days to go to saunas in Rio. MM is not included in the following table due to the lack of personal experience since the few times i've been there, i really didn't like the place. As you can see I've found a better selection of guys on Saturdays on 202, in the last times since Pointe has recovered from its crisis. To prepare the table i've only taken in consideration the variety of garotos present each day (sauna facilities and special days are not taken into account even if reported for convenience). The table is inevitably affected by my personal tastes. I do not like next-door type guys. While 117 is always pretty consistent (apart from wednesdays), incredibly I have made some of the best discoveries in Rio in 202 during saturdays (117 is still good). And while there's no bad day at 202 apart from Thursday, I can tell you that even if good, Fridays and Sundays are way better at 117.

I have been told by a local that it's a bad place, in bad conditions, with a old crowd and no GPs (of course). Don't go.

While tomcal is also right, i suggest you to do both the things to see the differences since we're all different and this is not an exact science. I am a bottom, and the first tuesday i've ever been to 117 (about 1 yr ago), I came in at 15.30, and at 17 my ass was already so much tired that i was biologically forced to abstain from more sex. You cannot imagine how much i regretted doing that, considering that at 17.30, "average looking guys" were leaving their places to super hot ones. I will make a quick review about my last visit to Pointe, yesterday night. This was my first time in Pointe 202. I am not good with estimations, but there were a lot of garotos maybe 35/40 during the peak, higher amount of customers (50?). I believe that the scheduled important event (NDD4) has boosted both the quantity and the quality of the GPs. Keep in mind that I have a strong preference towards the 117-type. This was somehow confirmed by a garoto which was in 117 on tuesday. The main problems I did have with Pointe were the LOUD music (but I have read that Junior has some problems understanding that you don't need 18 MW speakers when you're in a 70 sqm space), playing even when there's no show, and some of the guys which compared to 117 are much more pushy. I mean A LOT. I am still kinda curious to visit Pointe on a Wed, when there's no major event.

(this was initially posted in the club) I need your help...I have never been to 117 on wednesdays (i know it's kinda slow). And I've never been to Point 202 at all. I cannot take a decision. While i might enjoy the important event (NDD 4) which Point is hosting; strippers to me are just a secondary aspect of a sauna. I do like the 117 type boys so despite NDD 4, i might not like at all a sauna packed with next-door type guys which usually frequent NMM (and which are currently moving away from there).

Rio de Janeiro has more than 700 favelas. Most of them are in the Zona Norte, but there are many even in the trendy Zona Sul. Doing long and random walks by yourself without knowing where you should never go, it's a BAD idea. The general concept that the sketchiness of the buildings and surroundings around you is directly proportional to the danger of the area you're walking in, is always valid. So...have a look at these maps (which are Google Maps overlaps), which show many (not all) of the favelas in Rio de Janeiro. It is not reliable when it comes to "who's in charge of the favela" (because it's based on 2009 data), but it is very accurate when it comes to size and position of the favela. Remember...even outside favelas, be safe, follow the rules described in this forum and never do stupid things. These maps are unofficial and should only be used to get an idea about what is the layout of the city, concerning favelas.
