  1. Yago, when I wrote about SP and PA, I meant São Paulo and Porto Alegre. But you are right that the two letter abbreviation for Pará is indeed PA. I did visit Belém, the capital of Pará, but that was 20 years ago. And since it was 20 years ago, I did OK at the GP-free sauna. But no recent Pará news to contribute. Maybe somebody else can give us an update. Later this year I plan to visit Aracaju (in Sergipe) and Maceió (in Alagoas) along the coast between Recife and Salvador. I'd love to get any tips or advice on those places.
  2. The definitive post on price variation, IMHO: https://www.gayguides.com/forums/topic/60821-lagoa/?do=findComment&comment=407388 To which I'll add: Portuguese fluency and random variation in small samples.
  3. Sauna sex only for me, plus the occasional Uber driver. Lagoa for 50 minutes, although sometimes I take one guy for half an hour and then grab a second for the final 20 minutes. Cabin times are shorter in Rio. Yes, if they are watching the clock that would be annoying. I set the alarm on the phone so I won't run over and have to pay for the room twice because of extra five minutes of cuddling. Hope you had fun at Point tonight!!! 🤞
  4. Sorry to hear that. I have not read all of your impressive thousands of posts (!!!) but the many hundreds I have read have always been informative and very interesting. It must be frustrating to actually be living in Rio and feeling as though "everything" now sucks. Sensitive guy that I am, I know how even a couple of disappointing experiences can sour my mood. However, I was in Brazil for seven weeks during June and July in Rio, SP, and PA, and never had a guy try to jack up the price after our agreement. And while Rio/SP saunas did have more toned "models" a decade ago, I still had good to great romps every night with enthusiastic GPs. Maybe I had a really lucky streak. The only GPs I've encountered post-pandemic who wanted to renegotiate were a few in Cartagena, Colombia in 2021. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Colombia is fun to explore but for me Brazil is still easily number one.
  5. I've visited Belo Horizonte four times over the past twenty years and usually found it interesting. However, I made the mistake once of visiting during its intense, nonstop, rainy season. Belo Horizonte has several gay saunas but only two that (to the best of my knowledge) have regular GPs. Sauna Olimpo BH Rua dos Timbiras, 2635 - Santo Agostinho, Belo Horizonte https://maps.app.goo.gl/VpAaetLLPUHtmaLm7 Yes, anywhere from five to 15 GPs, some quite hot, on the evenings I visited. An unexpected amount of client-client action that was fun. A thread here a year or two ago said Olimpo was experimenting with nonGP nights, but I do not have an update on that. Sauna 1097 Rua dos Guajajaras, 1097 - Centro, Belo Horizonte https://maps.app.goo.gl/ubWZgYacwTpENasn7 A few blocks away from Olimpo is 1097. Yes, seedy Sauna 1097 is, as XPaulo wrote, rundown with skinny rough GPs who he liked but were not for me. Ouro Preto is indeed the most famous colonial town in the state of Mina Gerais. It is about 60 miles away and definitely worth a day trip, IMHO. Hope your visit turns out to be enjoyable.
  6. In years past, yes. Have you been able to do this smoothly in the past few years in Brazil? Since about 2020, a Brazilian SIM for tourists has been a huge hassle with Claro, etc. in my experience. So that makes the five easy minutes needed to set up an e-SIM the clear choice for me.
  7. Agree. Excellent and identical experience with Airalo's e-SIM. It has worked beautifully for me in a dozen cities all around Brazil during my past two trips -- everywhere except in distant rural areas of the Pantanal. You do have to be careful to only stream videos with Wi-Fi of course, otherwise vids will rapidly devour your maximum prepaid e-SIM.

    Lagoa

☝️ Some bold added! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is the definitive post on this topic! 🏆 Thank you, Mr. HornyFrog! I want to save this link to insert it each time these old issues are naively raised: https://www.gayguides.com/forums/topic/60821-lagoa/?do=findComment&comment=407388

    Lagoa

A lot of clients seem to ask GPs to set the price. OK, I guess if you feel more comfortable doing that. I never ask their price. I offer 150 or 200 reals (depending on the city, the GP, and the situation). 150 = 100 (say-n) e 50 (seen-kwen-tah) 200 = duzentos (or just hold up two fingers) During my past two months in Brazil, only one guy (out of a hundred? who's counting?) countered with more. (To be fair, he was extremely cute.) A few have briefly hesitated before accepting. I suppose I could bargain and save US$8 once in a while (or perhaps miss the rare guy who would have accepted 100 reals), but my bar bill is next to zero so I prefer to make my offer, skip negotiations, and head "straight" to the sala.
  10. Yes, always reject the ATM's proposed awful conversion rate! Yes, always get a credit card that does not add a surcharge for foreign use -- and ideally refunds all foreign ATM fees (e.g., Charles Schwab's Visa debit card). And, yes, avoid Western Union and other money exchange offices. Standard conversions at Brazilian bank ATMs are consistently superior.
  11. In Porto Alegre, LUX is operating every day except Monday. Thursday-Sunday (esp. Saturday) are the best days. Lots of boy-next-door guys of surprisingly varied shades. It has a curious mix of guys who have been working (Plataforma then Mezzinino then Lux) for many years along with new guys like the very handsome "short king" 19 year old who just started working at Lux last Saturday and another handsome newbie who started on Sunday.

    Campo Grande

How quickly an innocent chat about endangered animals turns to dicks! (Thanks FloridaRob.) 🤣 OK, in that spirit, what about fellatio? 😛 A giant anteater's sticky tongue is 2 feet long and can flick in and out of its mouth 150 times per minute!

    Campo Grande

Sweet! They look like creatures from another planet. Giant anteaters seem to be somewhat more common in the fields around Bonito and less common in the northern Pantanal. Along with waterfalls and caves, Bonito also has a crater (Buraco das Araras) with lots of spectacular red and green macaws (best seen at 8:00-8:30am). Yes, giant anteaters are vulnerable to extinction in Brazil due to habitat loss and being run over on the road. At least some new protection efforts are now underway.

    Campo Grande

Yes, and from my boat watching jaguars stroll along the riverbank...
  15. Yes, the beautiful weather of the prior week turned rainy and cold. 😢 And (causation?) Monday night was also the worst Lagoa scene, as you accurately described, since I've been here.
  16. Yes, it is crazy. It's inconsistent however. Sometimes fee people are in priority line but other times it's ridiculous. My pride used to keep me from joining the line but finally I said "screw it" (I need overhead bin space) -- since I qualify I'm in. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  17. Yes. Bem vindo, Tex. SP is hurricane-free. Weather is beautiful. GPs are hot. I'm about to go on my Sunday morning stroll down pedestrian Paulista Ave. and enjoy the sun, sidewalk shows, and shirtless studs.

    Campo Grande

Campo Grande is a surprisingly upscale city of nearly one million people. It has wide boulevards with handsomely landscaped medians, numerous large parks, and an extraordinary aquarium. I am visiting Campo Grande for three days in between seeing the jaguars in north Pantanel (a few hours from Cuiabá where I did not overnight) and going south to Bonito to see the macaws, giant anteaters, grottos, and drift snorkeling in crystal-clear waters. In Campo Grande, I found two saunas and went to both last night: Sauna Espaço Relax and Sauna Titan. Both have nice, clean two-story facilities. Titan is a little larger, but Relax has a pool. Last night neither place had GPs. However, Relax had a handsome, full-service masseur (R$120+100tip). Relax had only two customers, but one was a thirty-something, fit sub btm eager to be used. Both the masseur and the sub were fun. Sauna Titan had about 16-18 customers, about half were early 30s and half were 45+ and on the heavy side. No sign of the Afro-Brazilian gene pool could be seen. I was spent from Relax, but I did play with one beefy 30ish guy who needed his pecs worked over while he jacked. Outside of Sao Paulo, Campo Grande has probably the largest proportion of descendants of the many Japanese immigrants who came to Brazil a century ago. A couple of them were at Titan. Apparently, Bonito has no sauna with or without GPs, but if you have any tips, please share!

    Campo Grande

I will give a quick recap of my experience since I don't see any discussion of Campo Grande on this forum since Tomcal posted this below is 2018:
  20. Brazilians are very comfortable with physical contact even with "strangers." This morning in Campo Grande my handsome young waiter who seemed pleased to meet an Americano gave me a side-hug after I patted his shoulder on the way out. I touch and get touched by Brasileiros all the time. It is one of the cultural things that makes Brazil so warm and wonderful.
  21. Maybe "taxi/Uber seductions" should be a new post! For what it's worth, here are my tactics... Is the driver parked and waiting near a sauna? Then I'm tempted to say based on my experiences in Prague, Salvador, and SP, it's a sure thing that they want to be seduced. 🟢 Sit in the front seat. If the driver is not eager for you to do that, then he is probably not going to be too open.🟥 And my approach depends on physical contact. A little small talk is OK. But I don't like to get them thinking (potentially feeling guilty) about their wife and kids. After where are they from (Você é daqui?) or how long in town (Quantos anos aqui?), I prefer the topic of Brazilian football (Você gosta de futebol?). While talking about football (favorite team, etc.), I put my hand on their leg for just a half-second longer than a quick tap. This step is pivotal. If he move his leg away from you and lowers his arm to block access: 🟥 Forget it. If he moves his right arm higher and keeps his leg accessible (or even opens it wider): 🟢 Green light. So, return your hand to his leg (a solid confident placement not a scared light touch) and ask if he plays football. Squeeze his leg and praise is strength and power. 💪 Now leave your hand to slowly massage his muscular leg. Unless he pulls away, proceed slowly upward. Conversation stops. Soon you will find him rock hard. Enjoy. I only do this once every year or two when I am attracted to the driver, feel the right vibes, and am not exhausted from the sauna, but my success rate is 100%.
  22. In the Pantanal with jaguars now, but will follow-up later. 😉 🚕 👍🏻
  23. Starting at the end of October, American will fly nonstop from JFK to Rio. Of course, you can save about $1,400 taking Copa with a short layover in Panama City. You invited recommendations, so mine would be to relax and enjoy spending all ten days in your priority Rio. Plus, that avoids the expense of more flights and the hassle of packing/unpacking.
  24. Apologies for reversing the numbers. Sunday = 117 Monday = 202 Too much sex = dyslexia.
  25. I'm in Rio now and I know quite a few posters have complained about 117/202 these days, but -- even though Sunday night was very slow at 202 -- I had three amazing encounters with hot, handsome young men who were eager to make out and really into it. Monday night at 117 was also slow and yet my sexy guy was awesome, horny, and passionate. Tomorrow heading to the Pantanal, Cuiaba, Campo Grande, and Bonito for a couple of weeks... then SP and back to Rio.
