Agreed on the dishonest taxi drivers. In addition to the airport ride, I also took a taxi for the gayromeo hookup I mentioned above. The driver tried to pull a switch on me when I paid. Whatever the fare was, I don't recall but let's say it was 30 lira. I paid the fare exactly, but the driver called out to me just as I was turning to leave and flashed 20 lira at me saying I still owed another 10. Luckily, I was aware of this scam so I said that I gave him the 30 lira and left.

Nice! I went to Istanbul about two years ago, but I think you had more luck than I did. I couldn't bring any guys back to my hotel so my options were limited. Fortunately, I had my map open on my phone and questioned why we went up and around instead of straight over. He got nervous, charged the expected fare and asked me not to report him to the police.

I, too, have visited the boy bars many times in the last 15-18 years. I've been to Bangkok pretty much every year in the last ten. While my business certainly doesn't sustain them, I am a repeat customer, which has a definite value. And when I say repeat customer, I hire pretty much every night I'm there from one bar or another. If I don't hire, it's because I can't find someone my type or they're not into what I'm looking for. As for many of the guys being straight, I think it depends on the bar. Jupiter seems to have the highest concentration of straight guys, but I will admit that's based on a limited number of visits. The gogo bars like Dreamboys, Fresh Boys, Hot Male, etc. have more gay guys (but certainly a lot of straight too). And of course, our perceptions may depend on what we're looking for. If you're looking for tops, you may notice the straight guys more. I am into bottoms so I prefer to hire guys who are more likely to be gay (or bi). I have hired a few straight guys who were "less than thrilled," so to speak, to bottom for me, and with varying levels of success, I might add. That's one reason I tend to zone in on the "gayer" guys. I am one of those people who prefers not to have women in the gogo bars. I tend to choose my health care professionals at least in part based on how attractive they are. I do have some other requirements (not too old out of fear they aren't up on current health care practices, but also not fresh out of school with no practical experience; for example). I had to choose a new PCP about 7-8 years ago and found a doctor met all of my criteria, including being reasonably attractive (the site I use, Zocdoc, includes pics). Yeah, oddly enough, I think a lot of the guys who work at both places (KOC and TK) are more or less straight. They probably get a lot of Japanese customers who are into body worship or just sucking the escort off. In their culture, there's a lot of host bars where the customers just like the attention of a cute guy (or beautiful woman for the straight guys) paying attention to them. In places like KOC or TK, there's more nudity and touching involved. I tried to find a bottom in advance but it's kind of pointless. Hi 12is12 I've never experienced moneyboys at 24. I've had a few MBs offer their services in other cities around the world, but never in any sauna in Japan. Most people who go to 24 use the public area. It's cheaper (about USD$25) and there are plenty of semi-private spots, usually the bottom bunks because they are almost pitch black, and the shower room has some private stalls, some with glory holes and some completely private. While I've never paid for the private rooms in any of the 24's around Tokyo (there are 3 - Shinjuku, Ueno and Asakusa IIRC), I have hooked up with a few guys who cruised the public area and brought me back to their private room. You can get a few people here or there who will paw at you while you're fooling around with someone in the public area, but it's usually not a big problem. The best sauna for foreigners is probably "24". There are several locations, but the best is the Shinjuku location. Ueno is pretty good too. I've had lot's of fun at both. The one in Shinjuku is just soooo conveniently located. in the heart of the gayest area in Tokyo! haha I've never used King of College but I used Tokyo Kids once. The guy who was working the entrance spoke English and he was available, but I ended up choosing another guy. I went in prepared and had a few of my wants/likes translated so my expectations for the encounter were relatively clear. Being able to communicate is nice but I wasn't there for conversation either! I recommend KOC or Tokyo Kids if you're short on time or if you are after something specific and you don't want to waste time. Otherwise, going to 24 (or another sauna) or using an app like Grindr will be more rewarding.
