Of course that’s a good idea, well-intentioned if perhaps over-stated. I bring a few hundred dollars worth on board, including the noise-cancelling Bose over-the-ear padded headphones and the noise-cancelling Bose ear buds, both power-charged. However, I am habituated to sleeping on my side and a pillow is the only thing I want pressed up to my ears. The one activity I am occasionally on my back prone to doesn’t involve sleep or Pilates, but maybe Barry White 🎶 tracks over a Bose Bluetooth speaker. As an aside, I never take sleeping medication in any context; probably the worst place would be on a flight where alertness at an instant’s notice may be needed.

I don’t drink much on flights but I’d be one of those with a bad altitude when abruptly awakened.

Nothing I’m not on top of. Most people are easy. Period.

Yet you obviously attended to it in spite of implicit disinclination and couldn’t rule out its merit seeing as it exceeded your attention span. You needed to see if interaction between two others required your two cents, dollars to donuts you went over the content far more than I intended or required. I critiqued another’s capacity to stick an amusing zinger, the question of humour the springboard for your gratuitous response. What does post length have to do with bot-centric trends? Try more coherence, tracking of forum content, less desperation to make an early mark. I wasn’t trying to be funny when pointing out a sad phenomenon within a minor yet toxic representation of gay travel forum posters. You merely exemplified the legitimacy of my observation, a perception not tangential to any topic as it’s an overarching thematic thread running through any forum. I merely plunked in a photo of a travel guide that I deem useful, as others might. Two brief sentences. Like it’s Friday and somebody brought in coffee cake. Topics go off in multiple directions. That is the inherent nature of social media, along with the usual expected array of DunningKruger-afflicted trolls on standby. I find the dynamics interesting and I don’t mind taking a few minutes here and there to comment. You don’t like what or how I write? Bots have advanced to corollary images …

Now that’s more of an effort … troll-ish, mind you, abstruse, but at least a bit more stab at creativity. (If you’re into feedback. Not likely. It’s social media after all.) Word to the wise, though. Attempts at humorous zingers land better when the reader doesn’t need to web-search a cryptic obscure string of letters. Reads like a primary care practitioner consult on a Telemedicine platform at Target. I’d prefer to not have an ass dawn on me. That’s just how I roll. If you reach deep enough you might somehow reference something that actually happened.

Yes I’ll be flying Qatar biz this year. It will be the only time I jump more than 6 time zones. I should dial back the over-privileged whining. Nobody is forcing me to spend non-commensurate with quality.

These work best if shoved up the nasal passages or crammed into the windpipes of those disturbing your sleep. Those applications double for vocal cord disabling. If folks could just self-regulate. Sign language should be the 1st language in some cases. Opposing thumbs are vastly underused. That said, they are solutions that I would only need a few hours a month on average.

The thing about a guess in quantitative terms is that it can range from being born out to having been wildly speculative. Context is lacking in terms of how to price-point a large departure from the current lay of the land.

Hahahah … we were both being sarcastic and non-literal, obviously. Except, well, I think you took mine literally to suit your response and I think you are fully aware of it. I’ve picked up on this trend and also often wonder if you bypass context in your posts, though my sense is you are far from being a simpleton and you are a wealth of concrete information. What is important for me to know about you and what you think the value of your post is? Hmmm? The ‘being on drugs’ fallback dig is usually a ploy for cheap laughs and you might consider expanding your repertoire. It seems, well, basic. It’s just one clue that calls into question what significance your input has and what attention it deserves … from me. We are all different and hold personal standards. Now you have something it makes sense, more psychologically and not so much manipulatively, to truly disagree with. ——— Cue the ignore-worthy retort.

My last few business class flights were a waste of money. I like to lie flat as a variation of posture, and be on my side, requiring 180 degrees. Sleeping is great if the conditions support it. My last flight bumped me from the last row to being in front of a family of 6 travelling at the last minute. One of the young children usurped my selected seat but could have easily been clustered with her folks without me needing to move. Much shrieking among the 4: infant to 6-ish. No sleep. All this racket directed forward to my ears. The flight before that was a bachelor party clustered around me. No, no lookers. Not misbehaving, but rowdy and loud enough to inhibit any possibility of restorative sleep. And before that, first row, about 2 feet from a curtain behind which several flight attendants were talking extremely loudly for several hours while most other passengers making zz’s snug in their duvets. I’ve rested better on some occasions in packed economy. I would prefer to pay a lot less to lie flat if those populating a shared space are going to render attempts at sleeping futile. I’m a very solid and enviably deep sleeper at home where it’s quiet.

So I went through the guide and was really really disappointed that it lacks some essential information. As a fellow punter, even though somewhat long in the tooth, it’s really really really important that I stand out and make my mark in open brothel settings. How can I be noticed and draw attention to myself in spite of the dry ice haze, ear-splitting loud music, alcoholic stupor of a subsection of other patrons, drag MCs, and half-naked trade strutting around? I have a very regular appearance, 6’ 180, and don’t take up much room. I am an interested observer of people in congested settings. But it’s vital that everybody like me, I mean that they really really really really like me. Every single person’s take of me is so very very very significant. I do so very much care, to the point of debilitating obsession. It’s simply not worth making the trip, living well as best revenge even, if I don’t consistently make a positive impression. How critical will this be in Thailand? Heck … even the sort of odd category type , depicted below, that might at times purport to observe you, albeit unbeknownst to you yet sizing you up with their finger pincer grasp, should be very very very important in terms of their perspective, no? Don’t those of senior age amongst you agree that strangers’ opinions of you should dictate how you view your self and worth? Should we not be as on guard in the domains in which we circulate, for malignant wannabe head-squashing soul-snatchers as we are for phone grabs out in public? It’s important to try harder with fringe audiences, however grandiose such members evidently are, right? Damaged people are people, after all, and one can never know entirely what’s behind it. Here’s hoping the next guide offers better overall and direction for ongoing travel. FullSizeRender.MOV

… not to be missed. Brit actor Aaron Pierre, stage and screen, what a heartthrob! Watch for a plot surprise, unrelated to the biological brothers’ connection, in this moving film. The second superb recent film set in Scarborough, Canada. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/brother_2022

Current tourism numbers-and identities- in Thailand
Riobard replied to Londoner's topic in Gay Thailand
Seems a large proportion, and disproportionate rebound of 50% of pre-CoV comparator relative to composite of other nations 25%. This piece is detailed up to end of ‘22, allowing comparison to 1st quarter ‘23. The rebound metric improves when prorating the recent quarter against ‘22. Notable from ‘23 piece is the reference to burdened infrastructure yet tourist volume remains quite short of 20teens. https://m.thaiwebsites.com/tourists-nationalities-Thailand.asp -
Got it. It’s now set up for text use like for WhatsApp. And my intended contacts are showing up. The difference is that one’s Line ID must be unique (available) and one’s Display Name can be different from Line ID. If I have this right, Display Name can be John Smith, but ID johnsmith likely scooped up ages ago. One of the contacts seems to have not entered a display name and shows up on Line as how I named them in my smartphone contacts. In contrast, another contact shows up with both a display name and an ID distinctive from how I typed that name in Contacts. Looks like a lot of bells and whistles but simple texting appears easy enough.

I’ve used WhatsApp for years. I thought the only signature was your phone number through the internet. If you change the SIM is your profile the same? How does the empty SIM slot transfer that data when a different chip is inserted? I thought it would be ground zero, unlike changing a social media handle on one’s account. Does the new SIM connect to your existing WhatsApp automatically? You don’t need to alert family/friends of the new number abroad in case they need to contact you on the platform?
-
I’ll be using my usual cellular with roaming features, not a local SIM, and likely not for sexcapades. There’s plenty of time left to grasp the nuances by then and I will have likely figured it out by others weighing in and by ensuring it’s clearly set up ahead with the folks meeting me on arrival. I prefer ‘when in Rome’ over requesting they set up WhatsApp.

'Your Honor' star Bryan Cranston Season 2
Riobard replied to TotallyOz's topic in Theater, Movies, Art and Literature
Funny you should say that. I have the resources for both and should get off my ass more. I miss the terminated AMTRAK Adirondack run but other options obviously exist. Prior to retirement I occasionally piggy-backed a few West End productions onto a trip when a guest-lecture honorarium more than covered all travel expenses and a tacked-on leisure component. Similarly, once in a while academic conferences in or around NYC the impetus for taking in theatre and dance companies. -
'Your Honor' star Bryan Cranston Season 2
Riobard replied to TotallyOz's topic in Theater, Movies, Art and Literature
Broadway’s reach doesn’t realistically extend to much of the readership here. Are there related streaming platforms or remote cinema streaming options such as exist for Met Opera or UK National Theatre? Film & TV featuring Cranston? Sold. Interestingly, Bob Odenkirk has shed his Jimmy/Saul persona in the series premiere of Lucky Hank. He, Cranston, and the actor playing Gina’s father in Your Honor interconnected. -
I’m a bit mystified by a feature of Line that contrasts with WhatsApp. For the latter you sync your contacts and when you chat you simply scroll to the same name as in Contacts. In contrast, Line asks for, and users apparently utilize, a registration name handle like one sees for Instagram, Twitter, etc. I wish to keep it simple. I only probably need to use Line minimally for the foreseeable future and for very few contacts, though they are likely less of a Luddite and perhaps will accommodate my WhatsApp preference. But Line users here can enlighten me? I was asked by a few Asian tourism facilitators via e-mail to set up Line but should I leave them out of my Contacts list and ask them what their handle names are and search on the application for these handles to initiate communication?
