A very late report, I've been busy with work lately. I found back my notes today and thought I'd share a brief summary of the trip.

I landed in Bogotá on a Friday afternoon. I always fly to Bogotá because I hate the long lines at immigration in Medellín. But I wasn't so lucky; the wait was almost two hours. Interestingly, the immigration officer mentioned that the "biomig" system for foreigners will soon be available. It will only require pre-registration at the airport, and you'll be able to enter and exit through the automated gates (for now, it only works for  leaving the country, for foreigners without residency).
Bogotá
I only spent one night in Bogota, enough time to have fun with S, a libanese/venezuelan guy that I knew from previous trips, and a visit to montserate.  
Sex with S is like fighting a wrestling game. He's the most dominant bottom I ever met. He's amazing, but not the best cure for jetlag. 
The next day, I packed my bags and went to salitre bus station, to catch the bus to Villavicencio.  Traffic in Bogota (and most other cities like Medellin) is a disaster on Saturdays. All cars are allowed to drive, while on weekdays, most cities have 'pico y placa' in place, where only a limited set of cars are allowed on the road.  It took 2 hours for the bus to get out of Bogota and another 2 hours to arrive in Villavicencio.  The route is very scenic. 

Villavicencio

Villavicencio (or Villavo for the locals) is the gateway to the Llano (the plains),  the land of the vaqueros (cowboys). On one side, you have the mighty Andes, on the other side the great plains that reach until Venezuela. 
This was my first visit and I immediately fell in love with this town. 
I booked the GHL hotel for 2 nights at 50$ and another night in hotel 'Casa del Sol' (for some reason, the GHL hotel price doubled for that last day). 
GHL hotel is a luxury hotel, with a rooftop pool and great views over the city.  I only had one 'joiner', but front desk assured me that it wasn't a problem to invite people, as long as they were registered. 
Before I knew, I was talking on grindr with Jesus, a 22 years old uni student, who was more than pleased to be my personal guide. He fulfilled that role until the moment he waved me goodbye at the airport.  This boyfriend experience for three days was a lot of fun.  Our agreement was that I was going to pay all costs.

The first night we went to a roadside barbecue stand (usually a makeshift tent on the side of the road). Villavo is famous for its meat. We enjoyed an excellent steak at a very affordable price. I went to bed early, still jet-lagged.

The next day  we went to a shopping mall, Primavera Urbana. Quite a unique place, since it's integrated into nature, with meandering creeks and a huge pond.  You should go during the day, to enjoy the beautiful walking trail through the forrest. 
In the afternoon, we strolled to the city center and a couple parks and relaxed at the swimming pool.  The weather is hot, but with a cool breeze in the evening and night.  We went early to bed,  because the next day, we would become cowboys. 

Tiuma Park is a real paradise. An adventure park, a 30 minutes taxi ride from Villavicencio, where you can go zip lining, horseback riding and even follow a short course to become a cowboy and learn how to herd cows. Plenty of activities to do and we both enjoyed it a lot. We had the whole park for ourselves. 
Once back in Villavicencio, we went to an amazing venezuelan restaurant called 'De Pana' (Tequeños! cachapas!) and later a game of bowling in a local commercial center. 
The following day I was leaving for Medellin.  Jésus was heartbroken, just like me, which lasted until I opened Grindr in Medellín a couple hours later.  

I booked a direct flight with Clic Air. It was a bit more expensive, but the advantage is that you land at the small airport near Laureles and El Poblado (saving you time and taxis). Plus, I like flying on a propeller plane; it's a different experience.
Best place to stay in Villavo: the hotels around the GHL hotel in the south (safe area with plenty of restaurants and shopping centers). 
Gay stuff: 
Gay disco Mantra (I didn't visit, since I was still suffering from jetlag). Gay sauna 'Club B' (or CB club). According to my contact, a bit rundown.  Grindr: I had a couple offers from escorts.  Rates were between 50kCOP - 100 kCOP Medallo

During the flight to Medellin, I started talking with a young handsome backpacker from the UK.  He was going to walk to his hostel from the airport. I talked him out of the idea and offered to share a taxi since I was heading in the same direction. Nothing would have probably happened, but I'm not convinced that it's a great idea to walk through the infamous barrio antioquia with all your belongings, at any time of the day or night.  Sadly, he turned out to be hetero, my gaydar is completely unreliable these days. 
Medellin was great as always. The following days, I contacted a bunch of regulars and met a couple new guys from grindr.  Rates are around 150kCOP for paid sex.  I can confirm that there are freelancers roaming Sauna Cruising (I asked one of them, 20kCOP oral, 50kCOP sex).  Plenty of handsome guys. I went with a group of guys I know and they told me that the youngsters who used to frequent 'El Castillo' now go to Cruising.  We ended the evening nearby at the 'La Purísima' bar in front of Boston park.  Not a gay spot, but excellent cocktails in a great atmosphere. 
One of my regulars was going to celebrate his 23rd birthday and I joined his birthday party at the "Salvaje Perreo" discoteca in Bello.  It's not a gay disco, but LGBT friendly.   It was the first time I went out in this street full of bars and discos. I had planned to go to Parche at PV (Prado Verde) afterwards, but ended up in a motel nearby with the 'hetero' nephew of the birthday boy, after he had brought his girlfriend home. You gotta love Colombia. 
Premium is still busy with big  crowds on Wednesdays since there's no cover fee.   Some motels like ibiza do not allow entry to Venezuelans, unless they have a passport or PPT.   Luckily, there are plenty of motels that don't make a problem of it.  I found a small and cheap motel 'aloha suite' (30kCOP for simple room) next to Unicentro Laureles. Very convenient to meet your grindr date at the mall and only have to walk 50 meters to start the action.  Cúcuta

I hadn't heard from one of my regulars for months. He joined the police force and it's not a joke over there.  They have to turn in their phones and they stay at the academy for 3 months.  After three months, they are allowed to use their phone again and they get 1 day off a week.  That's a lot of effort for earning the minimum wage with no possibility to climb up the hierarchy and even have to pay a large sum (16 million pesos) for their equipment and training.  
He looked great in his uniform and we got the motel room for free (it looks like the job comes with a couple perks though).  Afterwards, we had diner and cocktails in Caobos.

A  friend was in town (he normally lives in Venezuela) and he wanted to meet me again.  He made the deal more enticing by offering to bring 2 friends with him.  We ended up in motel picardias. Their Aruba room isn't cheap at 180kCOP, but you can stay for 6 hours and it has a large swimming pool.   This was the second foursome I ever had (both were in Cucuta) and certainly to be repeated. We had a blast. 
The next few days I went dancing at La Redoma and visited the city center, ecoparque and a couple small pueblos with regulars.  Grindr was very active and I met 2 new guys, both from Venezuela and both great company. 
Some random observations:
Pandora le club is no more.. A gay institute has fallen and been replaced by yet another straight disco.  Disco 'La Celosa' has taken over part of the public, but it's not a gay disco.  La Redoma has female strippers now on Friday evenings and male strippers on Saturday evenings.  I hadn't expected to see 'caminantes' again (after not having seen them for years). Caminantes are Venezuelans who walk all the way to their destination (which can be another country). It seems that the situation in Venezuela hasn't improved much.. Cúcuta felt more safe with a lot of police in the streets. Maybe it was because of the elections at the time.  Rates are 30kCOP - 100 kCOP for paid sex.   ---------
Overall, another amazing  trip to Colombia and I'm already looking forward to go back.  If only to go to Cali, a city I have not yet visited. 
I'd say half of the guys I met were regulars; the others I contacted through Grindr or by recommendation from regulars. 

A short report on my last trip to Colombia.
The plan was to first go to Bogota and then, via Pereira and Manizales, to Medellin, finishing the trip with a few days in Cúcuta.
After receiving an invitation to a gay wedding in Barranquilla, I unfortunately had to cancel the Pereira and Manizales part of the trip.

I stayed in Chapinero. My Airbnb had a change in its visitor policy, requiring me to register visitors 24 hours in advance. As a result, I mainly used the motels around Calle 61 and Carrera 14a (basic rooms at around 45 kCOP).
Those motels are a bit hard to reach though, due to the works on the new metro system. 
Gay disco: 
Teatron, still one of my favorite gay discos. 
Guys:
Two 'free' boys from Bosa & Soacha (grindr). I paid the moto taxi costs. It's easy to order a moto taxi with Uber for someone else and you can follow their itinerary, but I haven't figured out how to do it with the other apps (indrive, didi, ..).

Barranquilla
Northern Barranquilla is quite nice. I stayed at the Prado Hotel, a 5* luxury hotel for an incredible price (3 nights for $160). You can simply let security know you're inviting your companion to the pool bar or restaurant. If they're staying overnight, you have to register them.
The wedding was fun, with a party in a finca in Puerto Colombia, near the beach. 
Gay discos: 
lives: closed for renovation Patio / phuket: Patio is outdoors, phuket indoors. Nice atmosphere, music not too loud.  Legacy: music volume deafening, but cheap and plenty of cute guys. Nightlife is mostly limited to Friday / Saturday evening. 
Saunas:
Dark: looks promising, but they close early and I arrived near closing time. They also run a motel (not at the same location). 
Guys:
Grindr is very popular. Most men are happy to meet you for free or for a small fee (50 kCOP is common). Because almost all of them live in the south (the city's poorest and most dangerous neighborhood), they ask you to pay for taxi fares, which can add up. You can't use Uber Moto Taxi, as it's illegal in Barranquilla for two men to ride a motorcycle.
 
Medellin
It was quite hot in the city of eternal spring, and I'm not just talking about the men, but also about the weather. As always, I had a wonderful time.
Sauna:
Cruising:  According to friends, it's the most popular sauna these days. I went there at 5 p.m., and it was packed. All types of men.
gay discos:
industry club:  A "plaza" now is in control of Industry Club, a local gang that claims a monopoly on all drug sales in the club. If you bring or use drugs that weren't purchased from them, you'll receive a multa (a fine). Gang members patrolling the entrance, the dance floor, and the restrooms kind of spoil the atmosphere. I don't use drugs myself, but because I often go to the restroom after a few drinks (small bladder), they even started harassing and interrogating me. A bit of a downer. premium: plenty of eye candy, the place to be. Music not too loud and a great 'flow' like they say over here.  prado verde: 'remate' disco & motel located in a very bad part of centro, but they have excellent security (they walk you to your car). Very popular nowadays. People start arriving around 2am and by the time the other discos close, it's packed.  Since it's also a motel, you can immediately take your friend of the night to a room (basic rooms at 38kCOP). Recommended (for night owls). Guys:
I have my bunch of regular guys in Medellin. I met a cute guy at cruising (sauna) and in prado verde. For a change in my diet, I also went with an older hunk in motel roma (they have guys available on site).

Cucuta:
A friend and reader of this forum accompanied me on this part of the journey. As I said before, it's not a place for the faint of heart. I would only recommend to go there if you have plenty of experience travelling in South America, good situational awareness and you speak sufficient Spanish.
We had a great time anyway. There were plenty of handsome guys, and the advantage of not being alone is that you can keep an eye on each other (share your location).
Some changes: 
la redoma: These days, there are professional male and female strippers on Saturdays and Sundays. The nightclub has a great atmosphere, but security still leaves a lot to be desired (no age checks or weapons checks).  Foam party at pandora le club on a tuesday night was amazing. I'm not sure if it's a recurring event. Apparently there's a bar / disco called gata ebria in centro, with male waiters in underwear. I didn't have time to check it out.  Police checks: make sure you take a picture of your passport AND the entry stamp. If you can't show the entry stamp, they will detain you (unless you give them some tea money). Guys:

I had a fantastic trip, with just one minor hiccup. In Cucuta, the police tried to fine me for jaywalking (I didn't, even though half the city does). After much discussion and my refusal to pay the 300 kCOP fine immediately, they relented and let me go.
My next trip is to Thailand, my first in five years. I don't know what to expect. Oh well, I'm sure the massages and food will be better.
 

While most of the Posts here would suggest little to no drug use amongst this crowd, just wanted to drop this warning for anyone tempted to partake in the local pink delicacy of tusi (also have seen tussy and 2C used). 

This is a potent mix of several stimulants that is snorted. You will see it being used openly in most large clubs in Medellin. 
The Alcaldía is Medellin is now posting social media ads warning users of recent medical emergencies related to to dangerous mixes being sold in the city. This includes Fentanyl being mixed into the supply, leading to several deaths and permanent physical disabilities from use. 

Just wanted to provide fair warning as we get closer to La Feria de las Flores and the wave of tourists who will arrive for the extended party.

Then I don't know how long we had sex for, but they left at 630am, just about the time another guy I knew just finished work and showed up minutes after they left, I was still in the lobby of the airbnb.... so we continued until about almost 11am I think it was....

This was my first visit and I immediately fell in love with this town. 
I booked the GHL hotel for 2 nights at 50$ and another night in hotel 'Casa del Sol' (for some reason, the GHL hotel price doubled for that last day). 
GHL hotel is a luxury hotel, with a rooftop pool and great views over the city.  I only had one 'joiner', but front desk assured me that it wasn't a problem to invite people, as long as they were registered. 
Before I knew, I was talking on grindr with Jesus, a 22 years old uni student, who was more than pleased to be my personal guide. He fulfilled that role until the moment he waved me goodbye at the airport.  This boyfriend experience for three days was a lot of fun.  Our agreement was that I was going to pay all costs.

Tiuma Park is a real paradise. An adventure park, a 30 minutes taxi ride from Villavicencio, where you can go zip lining, horseback riding and even follow a short course to become a cowboy and learn how to herd cows. Plenty of activities to do and we both enjoyed it a lot. We had the whole park for ourselves.

A  friend was in town (he normally lives in Venezuela) and he wanted to meet me again.  He made the deal more enticing by offering to bring 2 friends with him.  We ended up in motel picardias. Their Aruba room isn't cheap at 180kCOP, but you can stay for 6 hours and it has a large swimming pool.   This was the second foursome I ever had (both were in Cucuta) and certainly to be repeated. Overall, another amazing  trip to Colombia and I'm already looking forward to go back.  If only to go to Cali, a city I have not yet visited.

Villavicencio (or Villavo for the locals) is the gateway to the Llano (the plains),  the land of the vaqueros (cowboys). On one side, you have the mighty Andes, on the other side the great plains that reach until Venezuela. 
This was my first visit and I immediately fell in love with this town. 
I booked the GHL hotel for 2 nights at 50$ and another night in hotel 'Casa del Sol' (for some reason, the GHL hotel price doubled for that last day). 
GHL hotel is a luxury hotel, with a rooftop pool and great views over the city.  I only had one 'joiner', but front desk assured me that it wasn't a problem to invite people, as long as they were registered. 
Before I knew, I was talking on grindr with Jesus, a 22 years old uni student, who was more than pleased to be my personal guide. He fulfilled that role until the moment he waved me goodbye at the airport.  This boyfriend experience for three days was a lot of fun.  Our agreement was that I was going to pay all costs.

The first night we went to a roadside barbecue stand (usually a makeshift tent on the side of the road). Villavo is famous for its meat. We enjoyed an excellent steak at a very affordable price. I went to bed early, still jet-lagged.

The next day  we went to a shopping mall, Primavera Urbana. Quite a unique place, since it's integrated into nature, with meandering creeks and a huge pond.  You should go during the day, to enjoy the beautiful walking trail through the forrest. 
In the afternoon, we strolled to the city center and a couple parks and relaxed at the swimming pool.  The weather is hot, but with a cool breeze in the evening and night.  We went early to bed,  because the next day, we would become cowboys. 

Tiuma Park is a real paradise. An adventure park, a 30 minutes taxi ride from Villavicencio, where you can go zip lining, horseback riding and even follow a short course to become a cowboy and learn how to herd cows. Plenty of activities to do and we both enjoyed it a lot. We had the whole park for ourselves. 
Once back in Villavicencio, we went to an amazing venezuelan restaurant called 'De Pana' (Tequeños! cachapas!) and later a game of bowling in a local commercial center. 
The following day I was leaving for Medellin.  Jésus was heartbroken, just like me, which lasted until I opened Grindr in Medellín a couple hours later.

A  friend was in town (he normally lives in Venezuela) and he wanted to meet me again.  He made the deal more enticing by offering to bring 2 friends with him.  We ended up in motel picardias. Their Aruba room isn't cheap at 180kCOP, but you can stay for 6 hours and it has a large swimming pool.   This was the second foursome I ever had (both were in Cucuta) and certainly to be repeated. We had a blast.

Caminantes are Venezuelans who walk all the way to their destination (which can be another country). It seems that the situation in Venezuela hasn't improved much.. Cúcuta felt more safe with a lot of police in the streets. Maybe it was because of the elections at the time.  Rates are 30kCOP - 100 kCOP for paid sex.   ---------
Overall, another amazing  trip to Colombia and I'm already looking forward to go back.  If only to go to Cali, a city I have not yet visited.

I only spent one night in Bogota, enough time to have fun with S, a libanese/venezuelan guy that I knew from previous trips, and a visit to montserate.  
Sex with S is like fighting a wrestling game. He's the most dominant bottom I ever met. He's amazing, but not the best cure for jetlag. 
The next day, I packed my bags and went to salitre bus station, to catch the bus to Villavicencio.  Traffic in Bogota (and most other cities like Medellin) is a disaster on Saturdays. All cars are allowed to drive, while on weekdays, most cities have 'pico y placa' in place, where only a limited set of cars are allowed on the road.  It took 2 hours for the bus to get out of Bogota and another 2 hours to arrive in Villavicencio.  The route is very scenic.

Villavicencio (or Villavo for the locals) is the gateway to the Llano (the plains),  the land of the vaqueros (cowboys). On one side, you have the mighty Andes, on the other side the great plains that reach until Venezuela. 
This was my first visit and I immediately fell in love with this town. 
I booked the GHL hotel for 2 nights at 50$ and another night in hotel 'Casa del Sol' (for some reason, the GHL hotel price doubled for that last day). 
GHL hotel is a luxury hotel, with a rooftop pool and great views over the city.  I only had one 'joiner', but front desk assured me that it wasn't a problem to invite people, as long as they were registered. 
Before I knew, I was talking on grindr with Jesus, a 22 years old uni student, who was more than pleased to be my personal guide. He fulfilled that role until the moment he waved me goodbye at the airport.  This boyfriend experience for three days was a lot of fun.  Our agreement was that I was going to pay all costs.

The first night we went to a roadside barbecue stand (usually a makeshift tent on the side of the road). Villavo is famous for its meat. We enjoyed an excellent steak at a very affordable price. I went to bed early, still jet-lagged.

The next day  we went to a shopping mall, Primavera Urbana. Quite a unique place, since it's integrated into nature, with meandering creeks and a huge pond.  You should go during the day, to enjoy the beautiful walking trail through the forrest. 
In the afternoon, we strolled to the city center and a couple parks and relaxed at the swimming pool.  The weather is hot, but with a cool breeze in the evening and night.  We went early to bed,  because the next day, we would become cowboys. 

Tiuma Park is a real paradise. An adventure park, a 30 minutes taxi ride from Villavicencio, where you can go zip lining, horseback riding and even follow a short course to become a cowboy and learn how to herd cows. Plenty of activities to do and we both enjoyed it a lot. We had the whole park for ourselves. 
Once back in Villavicencio, we went to an amazing venezuelan restaurant called 'De Pana' (Tequeños! cachapas!) and later a game of bowling in a local commercial center. 
The following day I was leaving for Medellin.  Jésus was heartbroken, just like me, which lasted until I opened Grindr in Medellín a couple hours later.  

I booked a direct flight with Clic Air. It was a bit more expensive, but the advantage is that you land at the small airport near Laureles and El Poblado (saving you time and taxis). Plus, I like flying on a propeller plane; it's a different experience.
Best place to stay in Villavo: the hotels around the GHL hotel in the south (safe area with plenty of restaurants and shopping centers). 
Gay stuff: 
Gay disco Mantra (I didn't visit, since I was still suffering from jetlag). Gay sauna 'Club B' (or CB club). According to my contact, a bit rundown.  Grindr: I had a couple offers from escorts.  Rates were between 50kCOP - 100 kCOP Medallo

During the flight to Medellin, I started talking with a young handsome backpacker from the UK.  He was going to walk to his hostel from the airport. I talked him out of the idea and offered to share a taxi since I was heading in the same direction. Nothing would have probably happened, but I'm not convinced that it's a great idea to walk through the infamous barrio antioquia with all your belongings, at any time of the day or night.  Sadly, he turned out to be hetero, my gaydar is completely unreliable these days. 
Medellin was great as always. You gotta love Colombia. 
Premium is still busy with big  crowds on Wednesdays since there's no cover fee.   Some motels like ibiza do not allow entry to Venezuelans, unless they have a passport or PPT.   Luckily, there are plenty of motels that don't make a problem of it.  I found a small and cheap motel 'aloha suite' (30kCOP for simple room) next to Unicentro Laureles. Very convenient to meet your grindr date at the mall and only have to walk 50 meters to start the action.  Cúcuta
